Hey, thanks for the review. I have a question....I'm flipping back and forth whether I will get the mustang II or III. I'm a house/room player only. I think it's worth the extra money for the screen and better celestion speaker in the III. What concerns me is if it is too much for the house. I know modelling keeps it's tone for the most part regardless of volume but do you need to crank the III a little bit to get it to sound better and get the speaker moving? Thanks.
Fender Mustang V Rocks I use it & very happy with the sound !!! check out all my cover songs using The Fender Mustang V Head with a Marshall 4x12- Thanks FENDER !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I played thru one of these at the Frankfurt Musikmesse and it actually felt really good... I own several Marshalls (all-tubes) and even Boutique-amps from Lee Jackson and they really rock hard.
But for this price... I mean, come on! It's a steal! And especially the clean-to-bluesy-crunchy tones are full and come over really, really well.
Thank you for all your comments. I knew my post would bring up many opinions and I was interested what people thought. Thank you for almost always bringing it back to how it sound as that is what music is about.
Of course Tube Amps sound better... but a Mustang is an Amazing Practice amp, and a great amp if you need to dial up some different tones rather than buying $1000 worth of effects pedals. The Mustangs recreate vintage tones better than any digital amp I have ever used. Easily one of the best practice tools that you can own! OH and also... Fender doesn't build crap.
@doctorwhoi1 I agree that you cant' beat the feel of a tube amp. However, there's no way you can get a tube amp to be as flexible and multi-faceted as a modeling amp. My Mustang 20w is a great practice amp and I've used it to record demos. There's no way I could have pulled off the diversity of tones I get from this thing, unless I spend a zillion dollars on 8 different expensive tube amps. They have their place.
what about the Axe FX? I had the same opinion like you and then i played the Axe FX and it blew my away how many options i had with this little Thing.
@doctorwhoi1 im just gonna tell you, i hate solid amps if u were gonna thrash on em ide join you but this amp doesnt sound like one at all and is far from it, its amazing it really is, ive played it and like it better than my tube amp not to mention if i didnt kno any better ide say it sounded more tubeish than my tube amp! its reallt worth 600 bucks for the head n cab hands down.
Ive been a Fender guy all my life and I recently went shopping for a new practice amp. I checked these out and tried to like them but in the end I bought a Peavey amp.

Nothing mediocre about the Mustang Iv, just pure class amazing tone I have had plenty of Marshall Fender Line 6 etc etc etc
£ for £ there is nothing to touch these Mustang's

I'd rather have 1 insanely perfect, golden tube tone than 1000 mediocre ones, but I do see where you're coming from... I guess I'm a purist (:

I've got a Blues Deville. And I bought a Mustang I. It is a great addition to any guitarists gear.

@doctorwhoi1 What matters is the sound, regardless of how you get it. If you like the sound you're getting, then that's the gear for you.
