  • Waa.. Amazing !! I really wanted to know how to wrap a sari by myself coz my mother always do it for me.. However, as for the pleats, she prepare them already through sewing machine, so as u know, the sari is flat on the belly.. Ur video is helpful !! thks

  • I'm having an East Meets West wedding. This video came in handy! Thank you!! Cheers!

  • . . .would it be wrong if. . . i onno. . . maybe black people wanted to try this? i mean clothes are clothes right? doesnt matter what you wear. . . im just. . . afraid of too much attention to me. . . i dont want people to throw bad comments at me just because "its not my custom" what i dont get is why does it matter though.... everyone should be able to wear anything they want without being judged right? ive always loved the look :D but im always afraid to try it out...... i onno... :(

  • I'm planning to wear sari for my creative shot of my uni graduation pictures. Thanks! =)

  • this is so helpful! I am white and I dislike dresses but I still have to make my family happy for my wedding and thought I might try a sari. Do you think it would be offensive if I wore a sari for my own wedding even if I'm not Indian or having a traditional Indian wedding?

  • @SamWinchestersDemon I don't think it is, I mean I'm a Muslim and I wouldn't be offended if someone wore a Muslim outfit for their wedding, I mean just by wearing it to your WEDDING i.e the most important night in your life, shows that u really like it and appreciate it, not the converse..

  • @SamWinchestersDemon

There is no way it would be offensive if you wore indian clothes to your own wedding. Its your wedding!!! wish you all the best!! =)

  • I'm praying I can do this on Saturday for Garba... lol Very detailed video, thanks for uploading(:

  • That was great and well done, but get rid of the music a bit. Thanks for sharing.

  • Question I'm white but I LOVE indian culture. Do you think it will be offensive If I wore one?

  • @Emmycarson

    No. Not at all.

  • Sometimes I wish I was female so I could wear a sari. But I'm stuck with the dhoti and kurta/paijama. What a shame. ;(

  • So far this is the only video that explains it in a simple way and easy to follow!!

Thank you Thank You!! : )

  • i am a frequent user of this video since there are so many weddings these days, and i always love wearing a sari. i think i know you nisha. i'm our dear harvin's friend. anyway, you are awesome, thanks <3

  • Awesome vid! You made it looks so easy but I'm still not confident on the whole pleating thing

  • Too beautiful :O

  • This is the best video ever - thank you sooooo much!

  • P.S.: This was very clear and concise! Well done!

  • OMGSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I love saris and I'm not even Indian! Wait till I wear one someday, I'm gonna look awesome! (I hope!) lol

  • babs if u pleat first it looks better x

  • omg thats like a lot of wrk i dnt tink a could put it on by my self

  • I think this is one of the best "how to wear a sari" demonstrations I have found! I still haven't gotten the finger thing down though, so I just press it against myself and fold it:) Thank you!

  • Awesome video! I bought one to wear for an upcoming desi wedding and was worried about how to wear it. Your video was very simple and a lot easier than many of the other instructions!

  • clear and concise. awesome! :)

  • Which style is this? Nivi?

  • Do you think it is weird for a white person to wear india clothing? I have always loved the way indian clothing looked since my grandmother married a man from india and brought his daughter here. But i am worried about dirty looks and what not.

  • @pixieferrie feel free to wear wht you like.I'm small And white;I know I'll never look as beautiful as an Indian wmn in a sari but I'll have done my best. You get questions from curious people; just let them know how you feel ab't it+ that you wanted to look pretty.Who will complain about that?I think only narrow minded people will find sthg nasty to tell you .. say "thank you for your comment" give them a smile coming from your heart" then ignore them unless they show true interest in you

  • you really do need good attitude xD.

  • Indian girls are so pretty:)

  • i love u soo much girls:)) thank uuuuu^^

  • Whats the song?

  • Nicely done, very clear!

  • Black one should ve tied for the purple girl and vice versa ! mmmmmm ..... aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

  • Thanks Ladies, i had no clue how to wear a Saree and my sister in law sent me one from india, used your video to learn how to sort it out.

So a big thank you to both of you

  • Do you think is offensive if a non-Indian wears a sari as a wedding dress?? My friend is planning an Indian theme wedding and Im the maid of honor and she asked my opinion but im not Indian so i dont have a good advice to give to her

  • @whokn0w5 you can do it...just ask everyone if they're comfortable with it...

  • @whokn0w5 Not at all! I'm sure people will appreciate your thought!!! Just wait to hear all the compliments :)

  • @whokn0w5 its not offensive at all sarees are meant to be worn by anyone :) btw I'm Indian

  • @whokn0w5 saree is a pretty dress but most of the people abroad dnt wear the right material.like if you are young or want to look sexy & figurable in a saree thn you need to wear a shiffone or jorget or a net saree rathr wearing a heaving silk saree.becs in Jorget/Shifone/net material saree your figure will be shown&you will sexy&younger than your age.&your body curves will be seen where as in silk or cotton it will makeyou look bigger or a little fat than your actual weight.& yes u can wear it.

  • I really Love your sari But I cant find a similar one any where :(

  • hello

is it ok if i wear soft legging instead of the petticoat ?

  • Is it possible to get the blouse and petty coat together (like a dress) so that a person's mid-section is not exposed? I'd like to try wearing a sari but I don't like the idea of having my mid-section exposed at formal functions.

  • @maverickmandy I have seen girls wear a longer blouse that almost reaches the belly button. It would not be so hard to sew one that way.

  • @maverickmandy Same goes with me! You can wear a sari in a way that not a cm of ur waist is exposed. Just need to pin up the saree in the right places!! There are 2 borders. One near the neck which goes around the back and the other is a loose end which goes around ur legs. Pin up the pallu pleats so that once it is set it cant move.

  • the most clear way to wear a saree that i've seen so far on youtube :)

    well done.

  • What's the use of an instructional video that skips step 2???

  • @Purushadasa Did you bother watching the rest of the vid or did you just feel the urge to speak at that point? Not only do they go back to step two but they also explained why doing step three first makes step two easier!

  • @Purushadasa You need to watch the whole video. Step 2 is actually the last one. That way it's easier to drape the whole saree

  • LOL, "A good Indian girl"

  • This is incredible thank you !

  • This video was helpful and funny :D

  • fun video, and it actually cleared some confusion for me. Thanks girls. :)

  • my friend bought me a saree whens she went to her home in india,,, but i never wear that,,, bcause i dont know how to wear it,,, n ur video is help me a lot,,, it show how to wear a saree very smlpe

  • hey guys thanks a lot,,, this video help me to wear a saree in a smple way,,, thanks guys,,,

  • I am not indian but I love saris, and was wondering what indian girls think of non indians wearing saris? Thank you and it is a great video!

  • @eyeblazer i think its great! im live in australia, im indian but a lot of my friends arent yet when all the major hindu festivals come along everyone, indian or not hindu or not get dressed upwearing sarees...just because we can and we like it. =)

  • @eyeblazer

im an indian guy born and raised in chicago...but i gotta admit, some women look pretty beautiful in saris...even white girls...

  • @eyeblazer Sari is an outfit you can never go wrong with. It's graceful by itself and I feel that non-Indians look absolutely adorable in a sari.

So go ahead and try one on :)

    tc

  • wow.... ty!

  • Hallelujah! i just recently bought my girlfriend a red sari when i went to the punjabi new year or more accurately nagar kritan and we had no clue which way went up or what (were not indian) and in the end i ended up wrapping my girl more like a damn burrito than anything else. gracias and i guess shukria-jee

  • @arivas713 getting married :D hehe thats what I first thought when you said you bought your girl friend a red sari :)

  • hey that video was great, thanks :) I have a question an i'm 100% serious about this. I was thinking of dressing up in a sari and stuff for Halloween? I was just wondering if it would offend anyone? I really don't want to offend anyone so can someone tell me if it would be alright If I did that or should I not?

  • @angelstar108 - may be too late....but you can kill two birds in one shot....mother teresa wears a saree....I say mother teresa since she is more popular than some known indian actresses like Aishwarys Rai etc....if you were being someone Indian and hence wearing a saree will not offend anyone...but if saree itself was your costume and your character was an Indian lady, then its gona piss off some Indians...ofcourse if your party is in Fort smith AK, then it wont offend anyone!

  • @angelstar108 I really dont think it would, I can imagine anyone becoming offended, just wear it properly and don't mock the culture and you will be fine :D

  • thank you SOOO much! My cousin showed me before, but i completely forgot! I can't wait to put on my sari now!

  • wow thats great. thx for the video. i am so poor at this and so is mom. next time when i'll wear saree, ill keep this video on :-)

  • excellent advise!!! thanks so much!! :D

  • this was helpful than those other vids + the english was way understandable too :D

  • very nice. just the right way to wear saree.....

  • thanks for the tip

  • thank u , it helped allllot

  • I'd prefer if they played an indian song for this tutorial.. good video.. I wish I had a sari =(

  • This is a very nice video. The instruction and demonstration were very clear and easy to follow. Thank you. :)

  • such a good video.I tied my sari really well in only the first attempt. Thank you.

  • hi,I LOved your video..thanx for posting it....i have a question...generallty when i wear saree it looks all good but what happens..after say some time my pallu keeps getting longer n longer..(starts to drag on the floor).does it mean my plates are opening or what??/..so where exactly should i pin it up.. i hope iam able to put across my question..sorry if iam confusing...thanx again

  • Indian dresses are so extremely gorgeous, I dont wear dresses, skirts or heels, i have a very laid back tomboy style, but if I were to wear anything girly it would definately be indian dresses. There're culture and style is so beautiful.

  • very nice video, I undestood a lot, but if we use safety pins will it be comfortable to wear? or maybe the pins do a little "damage" to a sari? On the other hand without the pins after some steps all the sari will fall.....

  • @evelynacandy The pins generally don't do any noticeable to damage to the sari. They are needed to keep everything together. A small-to-medium sized safety pin can be used to hold the pleats together near the navel (pin it at the top and then tuck it all in) and then also at the top of the shoulder to keep the pleats together there as well.

  • Thanks guys!!! this is really helpful :)

  • waw i lyk da way u dun ur saree... bt i stil cnt du it... im findin it very difficult

  • Doh! I did it backwards, over my right shoulder. :S

But still, at least I am dressed!

  • Great video, guys! The best explanation I've found on You Tube on how to wear one.

  • hey guys thanks for this superb video, I've also seen a some where else where you can learn how to wear sari within 5 minutes, here is sarisaheli dot com , The pleats are the easiest way to wrap sari within just 5 mints

    Thanks

  • This vid was REALLY heloful thanks so much for putting it up + i loved the music (PHEONIX!!)

  • very good explanation. pretty ladies!

  • thankx girl

  • This is exactly how my mum wears saris so now I can surprise her by doing it myself =P Thanks so much for the video!

  • I just got one today I cannot wait to wear it! Thank you for the video!

  • That was amazing. I am actually a scandinavian woman but I own a Saree and have never quite figured out how to wear it. I've so far gotten help from a friend from Pakistan, but now she's not in the same country anymore so I was glad to see your video.

  • this is so convenient because right now I'm "trying" to wear a saree for a wedding lmao!!!

  • Guys you are the best!!!! Now I can wrap my sarees myself any time, without depending on people to help me. LUV YA!!!!!

  • thanks heaps! :D

    awsome vid

    xox

  • its nice just perfect

  • Comment removed

  • The video is great!! Congrats!

It's very helpful but I'd like to know if I can run the risk of mistaking.. because i watched other videos and I noticed that many people wrap it in a different way. Is it wrong if I make the pleats in a different way?

    Thanks

  • this is great thank u soo much. please make vids

  • You guys do step one differently than what I've seen on other vids......but it makes it so much EASIER!

Anyway, I just put mine on following your vid and the pallu looks better than all the other times I've tried. Quick questions: 1) where did you start the tuck in step one? Its hard to see w/the black...but I tried to follow. 2) any other areas I can pin for extra security? I'm wearing one out soon, only my 2nd time!

  • Awesome video!

  • THIS VID IS PERFECT!!! it helped me wear a sari instantly!!! really helpful! thanks guys!

  • @jloveenia Thanks! Glad you liked it!

  • This helped big time.Ty.

  • Thank you for a simple and useful demonstration!

  • Thank you for the step-by-step explanation. I always have my friend dress me, but now with practice I may be able to do it myself.

  • That's great. Let us know how it goes! Also one thing we didn't mention, but is necessary is safety pins. Make sure to safety pin the sari around the pleated areas (shoulder and waist) so it stays together. Good luck!

  • @goodindiangirlvideos

Hey girlz! Thanks a zillion times for this tutorial! I´m gonna practice as soon as possible. But hey...could you PLEASE upload a tutorial on how to put on a dupatta/chunri for a dulhan? The traditional way you know, with the dupatta on the head and some flowers over one of the shoulders. That would be great!

    THANKS! God bless!
