this game is easily the best game on playstation hands fucking down. all aside some of the other FAN-fucking-tastic games are Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve, Legend of Mana, Valkyrie Profile, Grandia, Wild Arms, Star Ocean 2, Tales of Destiny, Saga Frontier, Arc the Lad, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy: Tactics, Front Mission 2 or 3 i believe! :D
What I never understood was why Konami never decided to make a true sequel to the Suikoden series after III but instead they decided to go back to tell the stories of the past (parts 4 and 5 are the past I believe) which is pretty much milking Suikoden series....
4 was far far in the past while 5 started before Suikoden 2 (and I suppose durning the first game) and ended at just about when Suikoden's 2 hero is headed to fight Neclord at the rock town place. So it's not really the whole milking on the 5th game. Plus it makes Georg even cooler in Suikoden 2 then he already was :D
The 4th game was crap but I really liked the 5th game, even more then the 3rd really.

Man this was the 1st and only time I got all 108 stars of destiny lol. An accomplishment I'll never forget, and the ending made it worthwhile. I still have 1 but let a so called "friend/fellow gamer" hold part 2 after I beat it... I ever see him again I'm kicking him in the kneecap. From the front. lol

I think Suikoden 3 was quite good. As for me, 2>3>5>1. I played Suiko-1 when I was about 14 and couldn't understand the whole story though... I like Suiko-3's rotating chapter/character system that allowing many of the 108 characters to have their own role in the game, not just some passerby pressed into military service by the Hero. Early on, Suiko-3's story is quite interesting and had a good potential, but bad execution and mediocre "army" battle system make this game rather uninspiring.
This is epic music for an epic game. Suikoden II has to be one of the most badass games ever. Between Shu's awesome strategy, the Flying Squirrel unite attack, and the Double Hero Unite and Soul Eater, you cannot go wrong with this game. Period.
I had no high expectation from this game. I mean, Suikoden II; what is this game? It isn't very popular... But, when playing it I couldn't stop and when I finished it, I declared that it was my favorite game of all time for it's gameplay but mostly for the characters and its UNBELIEVABLE story. perfectly FACTORY sealed mint condition copies use to go on ebay for over 350, weather it was 1 or 2... i've also seen "secret of mana" reach over 900$ in a bidding war (has to be factory sealed thats what matters).. it's crazy collectors man, i use to be 1 of them lol... ff6 snes is now at 1,500 - 5,000 so is chrono trigger (factory sealed can't be 1 scratch on it or tear ) & 1 of the holy grails IS FINAL FANTASY 7 FACTORY SEALED MINT/PRISTINE with a "misprint "i" in "masterpeice" 1st print
You're missing out. Suikoden 2 is definitely the best in the series by FAR.
The first Suikoden is really good too. And from 3 on, they are just overly decent games that kept catering to it's fanbase.
But Suikoden 2 takes the cake. No question about that for me. However, if you do manage to find the game, make sure you also find the first one. They really do go hand in hand.

I think the game was too slow paced, while the first two were really quick to toss you into a huge explosion of action. But definitely a big improvement over the third and fourth installment of the series.

And even the boat scenes are too linear with a lack of places to explore.

hella yeah freaking Neclord was so freaking hard i would sweat as i would watch my team die and i had to resurrect them all back to freaking kill this fool with combination attacks even in the first suikoden necloard was a pain i remember when i was stuck or about a week trying to figure out that castle puzzle
That would be BAD AS HELL. An RPG Castlevania... sign me up! Just the music on this track is fire hot. Add that to some well plotted game design and I'm pumped!!
I cant believe this is #25, I am an RPG addict and I gotta say, this is #2 to me, only second to the theme of the first battle with that Half-Brother of Zidane in FF9.
Neclord is the best! I appreciate how he embraces his stereotypical vampire nature: large, forbidding castles, monstrous pipe organs, and lusting after young women. He is comfortable with who he is. Good for him!
I used to have this game years ago, stupidly sold it on ebay. I remember thinking it was awesome and being excited bout getting to the gambling game which I absolutely LOVED exploiting in the first game, and then when I saw that there was a very low cap on the maximum you can win, I got disgusted and stopped playing. I have bought all the Suikoden games right when they come out and they are all incredible. 3 being the best imo.

i hear this all the time, my cuz got this game a few years back and he let me borrow it for like a week (like thats long enough) then he decided he wanted to play through it again. So i didn't even get half way through. God i need to find a copy.
Played this game years ago, but I just only recently ran into someone who had all of the first three Suikoden's so I borrowed them and ripped the images to my PC. and 5 min into this one I found the infinite money bug with the gambler ahhh gotta love game memory's.

The entire game is ridiculously easy. The thing that made the Suikoden series great is because of its epic storyline, and how each is linked to another.
You know, it was actually easy because you fought that stone monster and go straight fighting neclord without rest, so it 'should' be hard, unless you trained hard.
This is the one part of Suikoden II that bothers me. It's like..they were in their board meeting and someone stated "Uh, anyone else think we killed Luca off too soon?..We might need to kill some time before going after Jowy, don't ya think?"
"Hey! How we're a company that has made some kickass vampire games, lets bring Neclord back and just say you only killed his "doppelganger!"..and we can get some badass points for Viktor in the process! that should kill a couple hours"
dam i hated the main character... his friend lies all the way and when u have to go get the RUnes of Shield and Sword, u friend comes out of nowhere and takes the Rune of Swords or w/e it was and u are left with the defense... then at the end u kick his ass...

It would've been so freaking sweet if Neclord could have joined your party. Like you would have the choice between Khan and Neclord. Choosing Neclord would unlock a set of vampire characters like Sierra. And choosing Khan would unlock mages and priests.
Better then having to choose between the two chicks of the game.. T_T
I bought this game right after it came out and could not stop playing :) then it got stolen...:( three copies later i finally have a safe copy under lock and key.... mesmerizing though....
people are still charging a arm and leg for this game, even without the game being in it original casing, this game is still holds it worth well over it original value!

5 was just as good as 2 in my opinion.
Personally I enjoyed 5's story more than 2, but 2 had way better characters. Shu is the best strategist in any suikoden by far.

Suikoden 5 is pretty decent actually.
it starts out slow,but once you get the castle the game is better.

Neclord is the best! I appreciate how he embraces his stereotypical vampire nature: large, forbidding castles, monstrous pipe organs, and lusting after young women. He is comfortable with who he is. Good for him!

I used to have this game years ago, stupidly sold it on ebay. I remember thinking it was awesome and being excited bout getting to the gambling game which I absolutely LOVED exploiting in the first game, and then when I saw that there was a very low cap on the maximum you can win, I got disgusted and stopped playing. I have bought all the Suikoden games right when they come out and they are all incredible. 3 being the best imo.

Played this game years ago, but I just only recently ran into someone who had all of the first three Suikoden's so I borrowed them and ripped the images to my PC. and 5 min into this one I found the infinite money bug with the gambler ahhh gotta love game memory's.

The entire game is ridiculously easy. The thing that made the Suikoden series great is because of its epic storyline, and how each is linked to another.
Sadly, its such an underrated game.

You know, it was actually easy because you fought that stone monster and go straight fighting neclord without rest, so it 'should' be hard, unless you trained hard.

This is the one part of Suikoden II that bothers me. It's like..they were in their board meeting and someone stated "Uh, anyone else think we killed Luca off too soon?..We might need to kill some time before going after Jowy, don't ya think?"
"Hey! How we're a company that has made some kickass vampire games, lets bring Neclord back and just say you only killed his "doppelganger!"..and we can get some badass points for Viktor in the process! that should kill a couple hours"

bright shield rune inflicts 2000+ damage and 2000+ heal in your party if you complete the 108 stars....it is stronger than dark sword rune

dam i hated the main character... his friend lies all the way and when u have to go get the RUnes of Shield and Sword, u friend comes out of nowhere and takes the Rune of Swords or w/e it was and u are left with the defense... then at the end u kick his ass...

It would've been so freaking sweet if Neclord could have joined your party. Like you would have the choice between Khan and Neclord. Choosing Neclord would unlock a set of vampire characters like Sierra. And choosing Khan would unlock mages and priests.
Better then having to choose between the two chicks of the game.. T_T
