This is one of my favorites. I've already learned the words its wonderful as well as the story of Kore/persephone. I have added this one to my fav list
@TheEarthwitch - Yeah, there will always be those who are intolerant. But they truly *shouldn't* be as it is quite unstable grounds to stand on. Especially since Christianity was stolen from Judaism/Paganism... lol so in a way, *they* have the right to be angry and upset.. but life is so much grander than that. :)
It's sad that Christianity trains intolerance. Utter intolerance.
wow, I'm a Christian too, but I can feel the power in this song. So amazing and beautiful. If anyone can help me, I'm researching different religions in witchcraft. This song is called the Kore chant, could someone explain to me what or who Kore is? I'm really curious, thanks!
Kore is a name this is used for Persephone. In the myth, Persephone is the daughter of Demeter. Hades, the king of the underworld fell in love with her and kidnapped her. She was told as long as she did not eat anything she could return. She ate a pomegranate seed and was forced to stay. She loved him and was fine with that but her mother mourned and begged for her to return. Zeus agreed she could return for 6 months every year. She returns and bring spring and summer. Leaves 4 fall/wintr

@TheEarthwitch - Well, considering the pagan origins of Christianity, they *shouldn't* have much of a problem with our culture. ;)
