I like what he says on energy, but also Barack is avoiding the hard truth: the US government can do little about gas prices going either up or down. The current high prices are already forcing the US to addapt to reality. This is good. When prices start falling after a few years, gas taxes should be raised, to prevent a new wave of SUV's and other waste (like after the previous gasprice spikes). That is the way to continue improving technology. Will he dare present that hard truth?

That's not true. Did you not here his plans for better border control to limit the number of drug cartels that cross the border? He also wants more funding for the DEA and local drug enforcement police officers. As a former smoker, he understands what drugs do to our communities, and he has the experience in this field to know what it takes to limit this illegal activity. He knows the drug problem starts with border smuggling, but he also knows it's a street battle.

i am german, but i have spent a year in america and it makes me happy and hopeful to see someone like him run for president. he embodies everything that america needs right now.

This might come off as anti American to some, but Cuba wasn't better before Castro under the "American" regime. And let's be honest, it's that same American regime that fueled the revolution anyway. I like what he says on energy, but also Barack is avoiding the hard truth: the US government can do little about gas prices going either up or down. The current high prices are already forcing the US to addapt to reality. This is good. When prices start falling after a few years, gas taxes should be raised, to prevent a new wave of SUV's and other waste (like after the previous gasprice spikes). That is the way to continue improving technology. Will he dare present that hard truth?

His views on drug policy is not that much better than any other policians'--which is sad to see. He wants to continue funneling money down into prohibition, which has been shown to be demonstrably ineffective, and of course extremely destructive. The answer is legalisation and strict regulation of all drugs, but of course Obama can't say that. But it does seem that he realizes that there are a lot of problems with our current policies.He watches The Wire,he had to have gotten something out of it

That's not true. Did you not here his plans for better border control to limit the number of drug cartels that cross the border? He also wants more funding for the DEA and local drug enforcement police officers. As a former smoker, he understands what drugs do to our communities, and he has the experience in this field to know what it takes to limit this illegal activity. He knows the drug problem starts with border smuggling, but he also knows it's a street battle.
