It had nothing to do with religion, but with a global financial system that is fundamentally at odds with the teachings of Christ. True socialism is not anti-religious, but arose first in the Christian communities at the time of Paul. The perversion of religion through human systems of power was precisely what Jesus condemned in the Pharisses.

I accept that whether or not he rose from the dead is a matter of belief. All the solid evidence points to the fact that he did, however. You are confusing institutional religion with spiritual truth. Human beings are metaphysical, with a capacity for consciousness and reflection absent in all other species. Marx himself conceded this.

@rycolo1 I have no problem accepting that big religions are corrupt, abusing kids and the like, exploiting for money etc.. This does not make the principles of Christianity wrong, however. Christian religions are corrupt to the extent that they deviate from the teaching of Jesus, which is all about justice and humanity. The Soviet Union was corrupt (forcing millions of peasants into starvation or into labour camps) but this doesn't mean communism is wrong in principle.

The church lies when it clames such things, in the years surrounding the supposed birth of jesus, there lived about 50 historians in the mediterranian and none documented is existence. However they documented other things such as bad crops, it goes to show that the son of god did not have a big importance or that he never existed

@scalvanger I actually mentioned the size of the military in terms of posture. I share your view entirely. The leadership was good in hind sight to use the Sheathed Sword during a lot of goading. Many military mights could not watch tanks rust, and instead saw total destruction of their country by acting not in true defense. The military genius of the perpetually faltering Soviet Union is well documented.
