  • Man, that turbulence was so violent it ripped the knees right of your jeans.

  • @theknightlynews hahah thats funny :)

  • @theknightlynews hahah thats funny :)

  • I remember when i went on a virgin Atlantic plane , it was great , TV's in front of you , meals , THAT was the life :D

  • i hate people that scream. especially girls....im trying to put on a poker face and then those bitches just scream and make everyone unnecessarily panic

  • @dnhug thanks

  • Flying through a towering cumulus-cloud will do that, guaranteed.

  • Unbeleivably, I found myself gripping the arm rests of my chair as I watched this, YIKES!!!

  • @macarthur261 hehe funny

  • The pilot could have avoided that by flying a little higher or skirting the cloud bank surely... Ive flown that route many times on another airline and never felt a bump...

  • I fly a340-300. looks to me like the fd sys has cut in due to strong tail winds pushing her along, i think this because the spoilers are deployed to slow her down a little. either that or they have begun their decent into lax, looking at those cloud stacks they look too formed for cruising alttitude. wings not flexing too much though, a330 up to the 340-600 have built in latices which encourage wing flex......

  • plane is descending, the air brakes on to help slow it down, the fd sys does that so the plane wont overspeed, besides the wing's were not flexing too much so must have been a slow decent due to weather conditions, too choppy and it uses too much fuel...... a340-300 responds in the same way only it does not suffer buffeting like the 600.

  • economy class?

  • @TheChillFlight yes economy but seats are soo good

  • is that economy it likes business class!

  • @TheChillFlight i know it was good experience

  • economy class? business class? first class? it likes business class!

  • @TheChillFlight it was regular economy class

  • economy , business , first?? :D it like's business!

  • Those towering cumulus clouds are pretty common during the summer if on approach from the east into LAX. They basically form a wall of storms over the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains and over the desert. Could've been much worse if you guys had gotten there just one hour later. If I'm flying into L.A. during the summer, I try to pick a flight that has me landed in the morning before daytime heating causes the clouds to erupt.

  • i love turbulence it feels like a rollercoaster in the air, haha :D

  • @bosnagurl1234 i do too, but if its not more than 10min

  • 1:26 lol

  • I cant stand turbulence it reminds me of the feeling when you're on a roller coaster and I CANNOT stand them :-/

  • @TheCozzie99 i dont remember i am sorry

  • hey i think i was on that flight..what was the date?

  • thats what tcu's due to a plane. rock em around :)

  • why was the spoilers up?

  • great video

  • @lazcar09 thanks

  • I thought A380 could handle turbulence better than older generation plane such as Boeing 747 and IL86

  • @alongthebluff it was 340-600 not 380

  • That is realy flying ......... wonderful.

It seems that the cockpit make a rapid descent due the big clouds in front

see the spoilers on top of the wing are complet activated

  • I wonder why the speedbrakes are on?

  • Нормально так тряхнуло несмотря на размер самолета. Спасибо!

  • @MrKarpeev i vam spasibo

  • LeAviateur, your ignorance is showing. The aircraft was obviously descending through towering cumulus into LAX, and the pilot was using SPEEDBRAKES to expedite the descent. Get this, in flight they are called SPEEDBRAKES, on the ground they are SPOILERS. No overspeed here. No such thing as low spoiler configuration.

  • love the moment when the people get scared in sb 0:27 :)

    nice nice vid

  • @nikia320 thnx

  • nice video mate they keep there planes in nice condition

  • @thomhaven1 thanx, yes plane was clean and new

  • How long was that flight?

  • @MnNick1 about 11 hours

  • how was the inflight enterainment with virgin, i am flying with them from Syndey to Heathrow on the A340-600. Let me know would be great help

  • @x1985robx Soo many channels, games, seat chat, very interesting. You gonna love it

  • oh god quit your damn screaming people!!! either theres a planeload of scaredy cats or they just want to make a scene. learn to fly and you'll realize theres nothing to worry about

  • maybe the plane was descending or overspeeding. i was wondering myself why the spoilers were up.

  • @da73

They were up for the reason you mentioned. It seems like overspeed and a low spoiler conf. its used to reduce speed.

  • The Cummulus Nimbus Effects... Wowwwww...

  • wowww that reminds me of when we were descending into LA from hkg on cathay pacific, it dropped like that haha, so scary! Great video! :)

  • it happends but you fly around 30000 ft so you have enough air beneeth you

  • i had the same flight in sep 2010 it was bumpy too..not sure why it takes so much time to fly above the cloud when taking off from heathrow.. it was very bumpy and a lot of turbulences

  • you can tell it was quite bad, the spoilers were even deployed

  • cumulonimbus=death!

  • my heart started pounding when they screamed....!!!

  • They are in very close proximity of a Cumulunimbus, which is a thunderstorm cloud. The creation of thunderstorm clouds come from very violent air updrafts and downdrafts. The up and downdrafts can reach speed up to 6000 feet per minute. Temporary loss of control can occur, 0 gravity can be felt, but under no circumstances can an aircraft crash or loose control with this type of turbulence UNLESS very close to the ground such as a take off or landing. In this case, what we call this a microburst

  • Just an ordinary gass cloud, but watch out! that's no ordinary gas cloud!

  • nice clouds !

  • These CB are just enormous !

  • I fly quite a bit and I've never heard an entire cabin full of people scream at once! That alone is terrifying.

  • I've been on that same flight route earlier this month, had some rough turbulence coming back, unfortunately had no video camera with me. Could have even been the same plane.

  • 00:52 : "waaw" great video!

  • @TheChillFlight Thankd

  • @TheChillFlight thanks :-)

  • fuck that! im flying virgin atlantic to las vegas in september.....but i've never flown before so im very nervous! why the hell am i watching these videos?! thanks for the view of the cabin tho :)

  • 0:52 : " waauw"

  • omg fantastic!!!!!!!!! this is the best turbelence video!!!

  • geate vid i had some moderate turbulence back from la-lhr

  • Is that the speed brakes partially deployed on the top side of the wing? I think I undeerstand why they would be deployed at altitude, but can anyone explain it to me. Does it have something to do with the turbulence?

  • I can see Your face at 00:31 :)

  • Those are the whitest clouds I have ever seen it looks like one of those drawings on some book

  • It would have been from that big thermal, that cloud is the top of a thermal and would have made you go up very fast.

  • Was it during your decent at LAX?

  • @airMFMborne Yes

  • I'm sure whoever was in the crapper made a big mess and I feel bad for the flight attendents

  • weird usually pilots avoid big thunderclouds like that not because they have to but because they can...

  • what severe turbulence ? what that was a nice flight just hit a little air pocket thats all lol

  • turbulance is nature reminding us who's still in charge

  • *After turbulence*

"Please securely fasten your seat belt" xD

  • Why are the spoilers opened they should open when the plane lands? Not above 35 thousand feet!

  • Nice, On my last flight of an A340, I couldn't see the the markings on tip of the wing, it was all white from the ice/frost.

  • I have to admit that I'm not an airbus fan but I love the A340-600 but I was in a 777 flying from Seoul to Seattle(14 and a half hour flight) and we always have very heavy terbulance.

  • wtf, why is a bit of the spoiler up??

  • Did you crap your pants or what! i did...and im not on the aircraft.

  • @AubreyBryan Lol restroom was busy after shock hahaha

  • thats sum scary shit!!!! NOT!

  • I liked the way you panned inside the cabin and then on the seat to see your reflection.

  • @Juliansworld Thank you :-)

  • thats an amazin feelin when the plane gos down hard for 2 oor 3 seconds than it comes back up

  • Take a Xanax. You flew through a clould! Much more dense than the clean air the plane was in before the turbulence.

  • We usually get thunder clouds like that in the afternoon over the mountains and desert from about July through September. But the city itself rarely gets thunderstorms. If you want to avoid those kind of storms flying into L.A., then make sure your flight arrives to LAX in the morning before afternoon heating makes this heavy thunderstorms crop up over the surrounding mountain ranges.

  • well i guess this is nothing compared my first time riding in an airline like we dropped 50 feet free fall above the pacific ocean three times....well it depends the kind of climate along the way...all i know is when it's windy and where weather change from hot or cold vice versa and there's no air that's the time u encountered this thing..

  • lookt at the beauty of the clouds and forget the rest ...

  • how long was the flight?

  • @Ryan199403 It was 11 hours

  • @BoyFromHollywood So long, what are you doing in this time? (on the plane) i have never a flight as more than 5 hours.

  • @EtihadHabbo well, usually i am watching some movies, eating, walking on plane, having vine :-) and sleeping

  • how long of a flght was that

  • @chanman186 11 hours

  • cool video!

  • @HEIIRAZ0R thanks!!!

  • So you were over Los Angelos when this happened? I'm planning to take an Atlantic flight to London from new jersey on a virgin Atlantic a340. Does anyone know if flying across the Atlantic ocean=lots of turbulence?thanks!

  • @ScorchXStudios Yes it was in LA we were landing , and it happens sometimes depends on weather condition.

  • So you were over Los Angelos when this happened? I'm planning to take an atlantic flight to London from new jersey on virgin Atlantic a340. Does anyone know if while flying over the Atlantic ocean if it's really turbulent? Thanks!

  • god that's scary

  • I had similiar situation in my flight from Pudong ZSPD to Sheremetyevo UUEE on B763ER VP-BAY. Very high clouds and very shaky wind= nice turbulences for ca.5 minutes.

  • omg this is exactly what happened to me going from Chicago To Orlando We Went In Cloud and the exact same thing happened in this vid

  • i like ur description , it is defo the best i went on ruby tuesday from londion to orlando they r the best airline evaaaaaaar!!

  • hey,im going on this plane in 10 days on heathrow to la,cant wait!its the exact same plane-flight number vs007

  • You will love VIRGIN theyr service is one of the best!!! Plane is amazing, new and food is yummy :-)

  • YES i agree with u i love flying with virgin there amazing richard brandon has done the country proud its the best airline in the world in my opinon

  • Dam hes descending pretty quickly

  • "Woaaaah" "Muahahahahaha"

  • they are not flaps, they are spoilers. The plane is approaching and the spoilers spoil the airflow, making the plane go down but not accelerating it...

  • that is more like heavy turbulence!! This is an A340-600, just think what it would be like in a 737, or a little Cesssna!!

  • @supermole666

those are not flaps, its something called spoilers...

  • something like that happened to me landing in montreal during a thunderstorm 3 years ago .

  • Don't think the flaps are up, think they are the air brakes as the plane is decending but slowing also?

  • very fluffy and cute clouds

  • Omg. I just love that WOOAAHH at 0:30 5/5 :)

  • i hate when ppl scream when i'm on a plane that hits turbulence.. shut itt there's nothing you can do about the plane getting bumpy!!!!!

  • i love turbulence lol

  • i hate turbulence!

  • why are the flaps up?

  • @SuperMole666 Not Flaps, but the spoilers are up during the descent as in speed brakes.

  • they are speed brakes. The auto-pilot is maintaining a constant speed by deploying them and reducing the speed of the aircraft.

  • @SuperMole666 My thoughts exactly!

  • theyre not flaps, its the spoilers and its needed for extra drag so that the plane can stick to its VNAV descent profile :)

  • You mean the spoilers? I was wondering that as well.

  • They are the Speed Brakes (called 'spoilers' only when utilised on the ground). If left on it's own, the aircraft comes down the descent as planned by the Flight Computers however that's before air traffic control mess things up and leave you high due to other traffic etc and then you have to use them as jets don't like to go down and slow down at the same time. Also looking at the conditions, the crew may have had engine anti-ice on which further diminishes the aircraft's ability to descend.

  • those are speed brakes

  • theyre not flaps-theyre spoilers, and i have no idea why

  • Cumulonimbus clouds: Very very very very beautiful, but they could be very dangerous!

  • Gotta Love Virgin :) x

  • That's more like turbulence, most other videos say heavy turbulence and there's nothing happening! If people scream then there is turbulence. That said we were bumping and dropping like that for about 45 mins and the captain said it is light turbulence, even when cabin crew were thrown into the air.

  • If you think thats bad I flow from Orlando to Manchester and we had to fly through the hurricane

  • usualy not scary when youre in clouds.. clear air turbulence is worse and more scary

  • i had this, even worse from sao paulo to munich, over the atlantic

gosh, so heave storms over there

  • i was on that flight, at first i thought it was some Paki suicide bomber tryna blow us to bits coz we dont believe in their paedophile prophet mohamed wanker!!!... thank god, it was only turbulence!

  • Image that when eating dinner on the plane. I would bring all my food back up.

  • Hahaha this was sooo funny!!

  • LOL 0:30

  • Omg..why are they shouting?

  • very nice clouds!

  • how thick is the clous? looks scary as

  • haha its so funny wen every1 screams, btw the guy filming this looks well hot in his reflection ;-p x

  • @FSX182 Thanks :-)

  • @FSX182 Whore

  • it looks scary but fun at the same time...lol.. Jees and everybody in the plane had to go Whuooaa..damn

  • NICE CLOUDS!!!!!

  • i hate it when that happens on airplanes! its like the airplane suddenly drops altitude and you feel butterflies in ur stomach...

i payed for a plane ride..not a roller coast ride!

  • That feeling is awesome :D

  • @VegasPartier NO planes are awesome and fun when you do that! :D

  • @manascaper22 AGreed!

  • i had this going to orlando from manchester in a 747... i found it fun lol

  • I Had That Kind Of Heavy Turblence When Decending To La Guardia With Thunder Clouds On Spirit Airlines

  • when u say long haul flights do you mean 14hours?

  • @TheSophiieee94: Long Haul normally means international. I guess not a flight from italy to london but from dubai to los angeles. Normally long haul or domestic

  • That mus have been fun and scary in a same way.

  • Comment removed

  • i was on a nwa flight to japan [Philippines to Japan] there was heavy heavy heavy turbulencE!!!!! the plane kept going up and down...we had food at that time...cuz they didnt kno there was turbulence coming. milk and juice were flyinnng!! good thing i had my blanket on haha :)

  • lol nice!!!!

  • id want to get a knife and kill myself if that happened to me

  • i would be absolutley terrified! i hope there isnt any turbulence when i fly 2 florida in april ill imidatly be thinking about lost! lol

  • i hope it doesnt happen 2 me

  • I feel bad for anyone on the crapper at 0:29

  • LOVE IT!!

  • WOAH OH LOL !!

  • that`s scary

  • Que bkn el video...!!! Congratulation!!

  • Dropped through a pocket of air too fast. =]

  • when the people screamed, it even made me nervous!!! =]

  • wow, he's really comming in hot. I don't recall ever witnessing the speed brakes deployed during approach for such a duration. Nice vid!

  • I was just recording cloud, and it happens :-)
