so u had that opportunity to go to international school in sweden now u work as a hotel receptionist. i went to american high school, american university and now work at one of the most lucrative finance firms in the whole world making 6digit salary
there is always something or the other, each one of us can feel priviledged about, however, the question is how many of us realise this and that thank god for what we have..>?
Being aware of the opportunities you've had in this life is, in my humble opinion, a truly endearing quality to possess and far from universal nowadays. So first, I would like to thank you for reminding me this.
I've also been given a lot: loving parents and siblings, great education AND instruction. As my father always says: With you diplomas, you can nail your instruction on the wall, but you will have to carry your education everywhere.(500 words is small to address this complex subject!)
The opportunities I've had and will soon have again to live abroad and to travel has had a tremendous influence on the person I am today and on the person I want to become. However, I unfortunately cannot feel priviledged romantically speaking but I'm patient (whatever!) Finally, I believe that realizing you are priviledged often pushes you to try and be the best person you can be.
Sorry, I'm rambling here but thanks again for this video. Merci.
you're so lucky to have been in sweden. I wish to go their eventually. I agree with the american education, hardly any of it is educational. we have a very messed up government as well, and alot of ignorant people here in america
By the way, a way to help others is volunteering. My friend is a social worker for the homeless people in Brussels. My other friend also volunteer as a social worker twice a week in Paris.
Living in a such technologically advanced era, we (people in their 20s and teens) are able to see the fast changes of the world that our grandparents weren't able to see or understand. There are still more to anticipate in the future, and for that I feel lucky, or rather privileged.
I feel that, living in this period of time is the greatest privilege. Grewing up in the countrysides gave me the worryfree childhood, to run in the open fields. Then moving to and living in New York gave me the opportunity to pursue my dreams. Traveling showed me the world. All these weren't possible 500 years ago.
I like you. You seem very well grounded and a genuine nice guy. The other thing you should be grateful for is great genes! You're certainly a good looker too! :-)
You can really tell that you've had decent education:) Yeah, I'm grateful to life as it is.I've been one lucky bastard. I'm grateful that I have the ability to do things, to choose, I'm free and pretty happy... but you know -- happiness is only real when shared -- that's what I think to myself sometimes.
Wow, you are a very lucky person, Nick! Learning foreign languages is such a big treasure. And of course, having a caring family and someone to love are, at least to me, some of the most valuables things in life. I'm happy for you!
you are a sweet boy to say all those things. your family and bf are lucky to have you. you seem like a very positive person and its nice to know thankful people exist!! :)
The word you're looking for is probably "fortunate" or "grateful." I am probably a pessimist since I seem to focus on things that I should have had not things I already have/had.
Nick. I feel lucky too. I've lived in the Caribbean, the US and Canada. I've also traveled enough for other to think I've traveled a lot, yet I want to see so much, I think I've hardly traveled. I'm leaving in a few weeks for a month-long trip to southern Africa. I'm so exited about it. Hopefully, Mugabe will get overthrown, people in Zimbabwe will receive some much needed relief, and I'll be able to make a stop there. Wish me luck...
I'm so glad you feel privileged for having Chris be so aware of you. My last bf really didn't understand that. To have someone like you have must be so amazing.
There is no education that is more valuable than one which enables you to travel and to be in other cultures. I fear your comments about American schools is pretty on the spot - and I say this as a person in education for over 30 years.
Of all of the things that one can have, surely the greatest of these is someone to love and someone who loves you back.
I work two jobs. I dont necessarily need to, but there are certain things I want to do in my life, so I work extra to be able to do them and try and save a bit of money too
I think I'm vaguely offended that you would look down upon American schools so. Just so you know, I've taken a"World History" class since i was in 6th grade, so I find your generalization sort of obnoxious.
Through my job, I get to travel to a lot of places where people are going through life and death struggles every day and whenever I come back to the States I really make it a point to appreciate all the things we sometimes take for granted. Also everyday I feel grateful for my partner..six years and still going strong!!!
I know what you mean about the implications of the word "privileged," but I don't think you're saying you're *entitled* to or *deserve* all the benefits you've experienced in your life thus far... Rather, you're saying you've been humbled by the positive things that have happened for you. It's a strong statement that you know not everyone is as fortunate as you are or as aware of and thankful for the good that has befallen them.
Tis true, most of us would do well to be thankful for all that we have, then always dwelling on what we don't. Most of us are quite privileged in comparison to other people in other parts of the world.
this was really sweet! and you are spot on, it would have been ass to live even 20 some years ago in America gay-rights-wise. However, now I wear my rainbow belt... all the freaking time.
I'm priviledged for going to school in a small town. The classes that I had were not that diverse, just the basics, but was at least directed to read anything. I had a high school librarian that asked me to read a book to see if it was suitable for the shelves, the book was about a boy where rumors were spread that he was/might be gay, and this was in the early '70's, the book was placed on the shelves. Nick, its time for you and Chris to do a joint video! Thanks
I'm priviledged for a place to live and food to eat, clothes to wear. It's the basic things. I'm priviledged I've got eyes though I need the help of glasses, I can see the beautiful summer sky.I'm priviledged I've got parents and family that teach me I can do anything. Though I struggled a bit but I was able to travel in the UK on my own last year. It was pretty amazing.
:) I feel priviledged for the amazing gate a teach opened for me-the gate to read. She passed me a book which uplifted me from nowhere to the beginning of a path on which I know how I'm gonna live. It's a book on living in the Sahara Desert. And from there I know I love to write and travel and learn about morals, feelings-the innermost of ourselves. I'm priviledged to have that.
I love this video! :-) from the first second to the last second, i think this video is wonderful :-)
i feel lucky that i have been able to go overseas. living in australia which is isolated from the rest of the world, not many ppl get a chance to experience other cultures. im only 18, but i have been to england, greece, france and other places, and i feel lucky that my family could do that. also not every1 can afford to pay mortgage, but we live reasonably well, so i am thankful.
I'm happy that you are grateful for stuff ^_^ Most people are too wrapped up into complaining for what they lack that they forget to be grateful for what they have :[ So it's kind of refreshing to see someone doing that once in a while :3 And like always a great video Mr. Arbata, keep being thankful for everything you have, even the bad things, everything has a silver lining, so yeah...
Thre are still some places in america would do bodly harm too gays not all of the US gay friendly and they proclaim too be christain i dont think they are in any way :)
You and Chris are such great people. There needs to be more young people like you 2 in our community. I'm 20 and you guys remind me of myself because of your morals and more.
I wish you and Chris the best! I've been watching you from the beginning on youtube way before Chris tried to get your attn thru videos :)
There are lots of people that make a thousand times what you make at Motel 8. You are so full of yourself.

TsubasaEmoFool- If you find my "generalization" offensive, try researching world education statistics. You'll find I'm not generalizing... I'm right.
