I saw 2 dococumentaries about Oaxaca revolution. One by my country's national television suporting the rebels of course. I want to ask if Mexicans were againsts these riots or not? And if the vast majority of Oaxaca rsidents wanted to rebel? The documentary was perfect and in my opinion the mexican government showed in 2006 what "democracy" is.
I'm mexcian and there is not real support of the people to this movement. There are venezuelan and cuban persons who supports and mannage this groups. We have a democracy in progress and nobody in Mexico wants a revolution against the government.

Every leader I have met was a native Oaxacan--there were a few Oaxaquenos who study at la UNAM and came back to help out their friends and families. That was the extent of "foreign" involvement in the protests. And look at Morelos, there is support nationally, if not for the APPO itself, then for the ideals it was fighting for.
First you are not mexican, you are american illegaly participating in that movement that it's a limitation in our political associations. Your answer shows just how out of touch you are with the everyday lives most Mexicans confront. Perhaps Raul Reyes has connections with APPO participants, but since the APPO lacks a hierarchical structure, it really has no bearing on the direction the APPO takes. Besides, these "anarquistas" hate the FARC, so that doesn't really make sense. As for illegal, it's apparently OK when rich Americans meddle in Mexican affairs, maybe it's illegal but at least confront it across the board.

That said, your original post still sounds to me as an excuse for a death squad murder. Are you saying he broke the law, so understandably some frustrated government thugs shot him; that he was warned and might have expected his murder?
Young anarchists have always tried the patience of the rest of the world. When they are not quite as young I find them even more exasperating. Still, the Oaxacan struggles received next to no coverage here. Visa or no, hair length, pot, attitude, adrenaline junkie or whatever: Mr. Will had a point and a proper role in Oaxaca-- maybe not from your point of view but from mine and clearly in the view of many Mexicans.
Both our Governments think they know best what information their people and the rest of the world should- - know particularly about their dirty little problems. Our media in the U.S. are increasingly unwilling to report on much of substance. I have always been impressed with the diversity of opinion in the Mexican press; you surely have noted its absence here.
You might want to check your own assumptions about Brad Will. You should know that as strange and marginal as this fellow appeared to you- - and to me too- - he did work, steadily, as a stagehand in New York City. That is good paying, union work and hard physical labor to boot. So we can drop the lazy hippie thing. Pot smoking? Who cares? He volunteered in his community, sang for children and worked checking out groceries at his food Co-op.
Not a bad way to be in the world. I visit that Co-op myself have friends in his neighborhood and I can tell you he was known and respected as a decent and caring man. It is clear that he lived a life that placed a high value on being of service in the world I will put aside my differences with his politics and use his dedication to service as an example for my own growth.

I saw 2 dococumentaries about Oaxaca revolution. One by my country's national television suporting the rebels of course. I want to ask if Mexicans were againsts these riots or not? And if the vast majority of Oaxaca rsidents wanted to rebel? The documentary was perfect and in my opinion the mexican government showed in 2006 what "democracy" is.

Injusticias, miseria y pobreza son graves problemas en México y lamentablemente muy comunes. Pero no son razón suficiente ni a tan alto grado para crear un revuelta armada nacional como algunos grupos armados como el EZLN, el EPR o ERIP quisiera serlo, que tu debes de saber estuvieron influenciando como en las pintas se veía a los integrantes de la APPO, y también sabrás que a los primeros son financiados y existen nexos claros con grupos armados en lationamérica en especial con las FARC.

you're fucking stupid if you believe that. I spent several months working with the movement groups and have lived in Oaxaca and el DF. Every leader I have met was a native Oaxacan--there were a few Oaxaquenos who study at la UNAM and came back to help out their friends and families. That was the extent of "foreign" involvement in the protests. And look at Morelos, there is support nationally, if not for the APPO itself, then for the ideals it was fighting for.

Your answer shows just how out of touch you are with the everyday lives most Mexicans confront. Perhaps Raul Reyes has connections with APPO participants, but since the APPO lacks a hierarchical structure, it really has no bearing on the direction the APPO takes. Besides, these "anarquistas" hate the FARC, so that doesn't really make sense. As for illegal, it's apparently OK when rich Americans meddle in Mexican affairs, maybe it's illegal but at least confront it across the board.

Ruiz has sold oaxaca to the Zetas and crime is worse than ever. The Zetas are killing all dealers so they control all sales and forcing the drug sellers to vend drugs given to them by the police. Lo único que ha logrado la APPO es que en el resto del país ahora a los oaxaqueños se les vea como revoltosos y en un futuro, con tanto pobre niño que se va a quedar ignorante gracias a las tonterías de sus maestros, no quedarán bien vistos.

No, what I am saying is that, by law, any journalist who comes to Mexico must inform the Government of his intentions.
Plus, the Constitution forbids foreigners to get involved in our political affairs.
He broke the law on those two accounts (we will never know in how many others he did).
He was not a journalist. He was an activist and a meddler and he was in the presence of gun-totting criminals on the day he was shot.

I believe he was just a misguided romantic fool who bit more than he could chew.
His death was unfortunate but you really can't associate yourself with criminals like the APPO and expect to leave unscathed, right?.
Wake up and smell the BS. The APPO are not people struggling for justice. They are fools led by corrupt "charros" who have enriched themselves with the misery of others for decades.
You'd better learn more about this before speaking about it.

One more thing. I am not implying Will was not a good man.
He put his life on the line for something he believed in (however right or wrong it may have been) with little or no gain to himself.
Only a good man does this.
I imply his death was wasted on a movement that did not deserve it.

Antes de insultar gente aprende a escribir correctamente. Y no entró a México como periodista, entró como turista y, por tanto, no tenía nada que hacer ahí.
En todo caso, hay imágenes de los de la APPO con armas de fuego. Y Brad Will está con ellos.
Así que tú eres quien debe informarse mejor antes de repetir lo que dice La Jornada.

y la asamblea si simpatiza con reporteros independientes puesto que los del pais estan controlados por el mismo gobierno (no todos) pero se nota la diferencia de reportajes unos usan hechos solamente y los otros comentarios tomando un lado, un reportero reporta hecho y no toma lados, eso se lo deja al espectador. Los sicarios fueron identificados como policias vestidos de civiles y no fue coincidencia que le dispararan a brad will.

It is funny that they keep refering to Brad as "journalist". He entered Mexico as a tourist and lied to the authorities about his real intentions.
He had no business in Oaxaca.
It is sad that he was murdered but he really should not have been there at all.

The US Embasy stated a clear warning to its citizens not to enter Oaxaca.
He was NOT in Mexico legally as a journalist but as a tourist. And as such, he was forbidden by the Mex. Constitution to get involved in political movements.
I repeat. It is a pity that he was killed but, still, he was in direct violation to Mexican laws.
You can insult me all you want. That does not make what I say any less true.

Actually, I do understand. And yes, I was being a rude and arrogant jerk. My sincere apologies. By way of explanation, not excuse, I had just finished watching Brad Will's final video. That said, your original post still sounds to me as an excuse for a death squad murder. Are you saying he broke the law, so understandably some frustrated government thugs shot him; that he was warned and might have expected his murder?

Young anarchists have always tried the patience of the rest of the world. When they are not quite as young I find them even more exasperating. Still, the Oaxacan struggles received next to no coverage here. Visa or no, hair length, pot, attitude, adrenaline junkie or whatever: Mr. Will had a point and a proper role in Oaxaca-- maybe not from your point of view but from mine and clearly in the view of many Mexicans.

Both our Governments think they know best what information their people and the rest of the world should- - know particularly about their dirty little problems. Our media in the U.S. are increasingly unwilling to report on much of substance. I have always been impressed with the diversity of opinion in the Mexican press; you surely have noted its absence here.

You might want to check your own assumptions about Brad Will. You should know that as strange and marginal as this fellow appeared to you- - and to me too- - he did work, steadily, as a stagehand in New York City. That is good paying, union work and hard physical labor to boot. So we can drop the lazy hippie thing. Pot smoking? Who cares? He volunteered in his community, sang for children and worked checking out groceries at his food Co-op.

Not a bad way to be in the world. I visit that Co-op myself have friends in his neighborhood and I can tell you he was known and respected as a decent and caring man. It is clear that he lived a life that placed a high value on being of service in the world I will put aside my differences with his politics and use his dedication to service as an example for my own growth.
