  • is it fair to say that some of Demisery rubbed off on this song? Some blast beat drumming and fast trem picking in there. Nice tho. You are progressing as a musician very rapidly. Id love to see some more colaberations

  • Umm, Keith, those look like Seymour Duncan Blackouts, not DiMarzios...

    Brian

  • if i am in standard tuning on a 7 string. (BEADGBE) and i wanna get to drop Bb tuning, do i drop the low B down half a step and then tune the other strings up? or down a lot?

  • @littletingoddess96 You'd have the tune the other strings up a half step.

  • @ChuckNorris134 thanks chuck

  • Oh my god, your stlye is my perfect metal. Technical with the drum blasts found with death metal and the harmony of the gods.. and you got to jam with Loomis. Please, trade me lives. For just a day? PLEASE??

  • Hey man ! What software do you use for the drums ?? Great tune by the way !!

  • I took a shit to this song today... best 3 mins of my life! :D

And amazing work on the new album by the way, i was worried if you'd still be able to keep it intersting and not just make an album thats the exact same as what you've done already, but this still sounds like you yet its new and fresh and exciting and whatever other adjectives i could use, but you get the picture! Thanks for the awesome music!

  • You're just amazing man...The one thing i stuggle with when it comes to guitar is coming up with riffs; which you seem to be able to come up with no problem. I'm COMPLETELY jealous haha Keep up the amazing work!

  • I just bought your new album. It is amaaaaaaaaazzzzzzing.

  • Keith, your playing is just out of this word...

  • I want to play drums for you man........

  • I have been researching Bernie's builds/checking out numerous pics and waiting for his site's relaunch. I love the work I see, but wonder if he would build a no frills work horse guitar. Some people do not because it is their name and most people would simply think it was made by a lazy person instead of CUSTOM made.

I just want a kick ass player without all the fancy 1/4 tops and cosmetics.

I will spalted maple is bad ass

  • man that first riff is alot like the intro riff to its not safe to swim today by vom but still an awsome song

  • thats a beautiful guitar brother

  • cant get enough of your fantastic music, keith!

  • im not better musician or guitar player than you, but i think you should refill your bag with new ideas........seems like ur repeating alot if stuff from older songs.

Still, i love ur music :)

  • You inspired me to order a custom Hesperian! Thank you for your music sir.

  • dude, u write the catchiest riffs man

  • How did you like your painkillers? I see Blackouts in this vid?

  • amazing!!

  • Your stuff keeps getting better and better man. Love the feel of the solo, keep it up!

  • Just started figuring out, learning and tabbing this song, and believe me, it's an absolute joy to play. :) Especially the riffs/phrases between 0:28 and 0:44, they're insane. I think I've tabbed them right...so hard to tell though!

  • Hey, what tuning, strings, picks, and pickups are you using? Also, what are you running this through?

    xD

  • @Slashe50 I believe Keith has answered that question, maybe try reading the video description.

  • @sneakyfred Nah, I'm just messing with him. He put all of that in the description specifically.

  • @Slashe50 Correctamundo! :D Glad we can all enjoy this fabulous song, and any derived humour.

  • SHIT IS SO SICK!

  • I know a lot of 7 string players watch these vids so if any of you are familiar with tech questions regarding string gauge, I have a couple questions. Someone PM me if you think you could help me out.

  • How do you record the bass guitars?

  • it' s awesome!!! no words!!!

  • Great job Keith! I'm really diggin' the new tunes. Look forward to hearing the new album.

  • That ending bit has an Opeth feel to it.

  • these new tunes you are cranking out are yummy delicious! I'm looking forward to the new release

  • this song is nuts. mmmmm give me that guitar when you get tired of it.

  • What did you do to my internet Keith? My internet was moving fast until I clicked on this video.

  • Dude that shot of your workstation at the end, I had a tear in my eye! Nice set up man

  • I love the whole song, and ALL your songs, but 2:07-2:38 is just BROOTAL. Holy Effin' jeebus I just looked up the price of a Rico Jr. and DAMN.Howd you get endorsed by them?? and I dont mean that in a mean way, cause youre damn good, just jeez those guitars are super expensive.

  • Hey Keith just wanted to say fantastic work! Love yours stuff, keep the music coming baby!

  • Do i hear a bit of BTBAM influence? awesome!

  • Fantastic stuff, man!!!

  • man!! I came, I'm buying your album as soon as it's out

  • How do you write your music? do you study music theory, or just let the thoughts flow?

  • Windows or PC and which DAW? Have a good sound there, so wondering which proggy...

  • RicoJr Guitars are probly one of the most expensive guitars out there. You're music is amazing, and you sure as hell deserve those guitars.

  • funny, you convinced me to get an agile AND give EMG's a try and now you use that guitar and duncans haha

  • @deathcore1239 I used Duncan Blackouts in my Agile guitars, too. I only used EMGs in the neck position. And this guitar > any Agile.

  • @diobolic5150 are you saying Rico > any agile because your endorsed or because they are genuinely better

  • @lectwar Rico Guitars are genuinely better, and no, I'm not saying that because I'm endorsed. It's just a fact. The materials, the fretwork, the hardware, the finishes, and the fact that they are hand built by one of the last remaining US master luthiers are what make them way better than an Agile guitar.

  • @diobolic5150 im sold.

  • @diobolic5150 lucky fucker haha. you deserve it though. if i dream hard enough i'll have a custom shop vixen. oh yes it will be mine.

  • @diobolic5150 you could make a hello kitty guitar sound awesome. your shit is sick as fuck, first time i've heard you. I was searching good ol loomis and you popped up...thank god. I was getting bored with all my awesome music now I've got more!!! keep melting faces!!!

  • @diobolic5150

rico's are the shit!!! i got 3 of them! sold all my other guitars to buy them, including bc rich usa's, and paul reed smiths. thats how good they are....

  • @diobolic5150 well, there is one problem with that statement. handmade guitars have more problems with fretwork then factory made in general, but the key words are in general. from what you're saying it sounds like the luthier is good enough not to make any fretting mistakes. btw killer playing. i subbed, and i would favorite the video too, but for some reason youtube won't let me ad says that the feature isn't available right now.

  • @diobolic5150 Good comment. Most people try to pretend that Agile are not budget guitars. I mean they get the job done and all, but when it comes down to it, in no way shape or form are they competing with high dollar builds.

  • @lectwar and agiles are all made in korea. i mean a $600 vs $5000 of course the 5k one is gonna be better. agiles are still great though

  • @lectwar Most of them cost almost 2-3 times more than an agile

  • @The0fail0wears0prada try 5-10 times more. Bernie Rico gutiars go for $2500-$5000

  • @diobolic5150 How were the Blackouts? I've been wanting to give 'em a try.

  • @diobolic5150 Too bad any guitar costs< than this beasty bitch

  • @guessimcool That's for damn sure. One of the best guitarists I have ever listened to. Keep it up Keith! All your stuff is amazing!

  • damn ..i cant wait for the album to come out =)...downloading it for sure lol

  • hey, i have an "other" obvious question, are you going to post that new album on the site or you have new plans for this one? and i don't need to tell you that you could make a CD any time you wish... i bet it's even hard not to :P well asside, im on a laptop at a friends house and he's sleeping near... so i can't crank the volume, but ill fav this for better times!

  • hey keith reply to my comments

  • @thedddesert What Comments? I'm sorry man, it's hard to keep up with the comments and questions here on YouTube. I rarely even log in anymore.

  • @diobolic5150 sorry for the s it was a single comment, whats your favorite guitar solo ever

  • wow

  • Ok I'm sure you've played EMG's so your thoughts on the Blackouts vs. EMG debate. The blackouts seem to be much more crisp and clear on mids and highs end of things. What do you think?

  • Hi Keith, Which Blackouts are you using? AHB-1 or AHB-2?

  • Really amazing. I have great respect fo your playing and song writing ability. Us 8 Stringers are a rare breed right now!

  • Dude. You totally slay. But may I ask you why you tune your six strings up a semitone, and then drop it?

  • @LilleSatyr He said somewhere before that he just likes the sound of it.

  • absolutely amazing, just like everything else you do

  • i saw an 8 string guitar video by tosin abasi on a friend of mine FB's page, came to youtube to find more 8 string guitar music, found your video (which happens to be like the only 8 string guitar video you have) loved it and started to listen to all of your songs.

just a big coincidence on how i came across your music man.

amazing job, you got a new subscriber :)

  • @Eddiemaster i found it the same way but i started my search whit after the burial

  • how do i download the songs

  • Keith, I don't have TOO much to say except that you are a HUGE inspiration to myself and my playing. Thank you! Video response sent to see if you think your inspiration is positive. Lol. :)

  • @ExplorerFreak Sick video bro, nice job!

  • this is definitely a prime example of a new sub-genre of metal called kicking everyones ass-metal

  • fuckin keith

had to use something other than agiles huh!

    FUUUUUUUUUUCK!

  • wow, good demo mate. : )

  • epic song :D in terms of guitar recording programs (Pod farm, amplitube, etc.) what is the overall best one to use for metal?

  • man, youre style and riffs have matured like mad. fucking prime music my friend!

  • insane as always keith

    you are incredible.

i am so jealous of your chops man.

    keep it up

  • круто было)))

  • kool keith

  • PLEASE, I BEG YOU ! PLAY THS SONGS LIVE WITH A BAND !!!

  • Keith not to be nosy or anything but how long have you been playing, i was curious because you play like an extremely experienced player, you precision is spot on, and your timing is meshuggah-esque, Great job cant wait to see more material.

  • @slayerfanbuck Been playing for 17 years. I should be better than I am IMO. I never had any formal training though. Thanks!

  • @diobolic5150 It's not about how fast you are, or how much you can shred, or how many different styles you can play. Your note choices, note patterns, song writing capabilities, and just your general guitar style, is not only unique, but it's pretty much as good as it gets for this cool style of progressive / melodic metal. What you have is something most guitarists are NEVER able to achieve, regardless of how long they've been playing. I look forward to the new album.

  • @partywithbonscott Thanks man! I'm flattered you feel that way.

  • amazing song. cant wait for the new album. are those blackouts your using? if so, how do they compare to the dimarzios?

  • Oh FUCK you are the best keith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah! cool!! great song!

    just a question...

Do you think about new seymour duncan ATX ? compare with EMG or classic Seymour Duncan like JB. Thanx ;)

    Bye Keith! you're great! :)

  • @diobolic5150 To be honest Keith, I can see you come up with a lead style that will suit your songs without being overly wanky. Daath did it with more Jazz influenced shred; you're way too good of a musician to not be able to atleast do something similair, and then ofcourse top that.

Keep on making songs dude, your riffs are changing the metal world one note at a time even if it's thru an un-expected medium.

  • great song. cant wait for the new cd. are those blackouts your using? if so, how do they compare to the dimarzio blazes you had

  • you are great! VERY MUCH!

  • Whats up Keith!? In your experience, what size do you prefer for fret gauge?

How do the 6100 fret feel like? Im getting a custom neck made and just wanted some input from other players with experience with that...anyways thanks for your time.

  • @suprjnt420 The 6100s are perfect size IMO. I would definitely go with those if I were you.

  • Keith,

Awesome song, as usual bro. And I have a quick question for you about the Rico Jr. Is the neck similar to those of a B.C. Rich, or are they thinner/thicker? I have a few Moser guitars (by Neal Moser), and the necks are very thick. I'm looking for something a little thinner. Jackson/Ibanez have great necks imho. Thanks, man.

    Cheers,

    - Wulf

  • @LycanthropicArt The neck on a Rico can be made however you want. I personally had mine made with a nice, thin profile. It feels pretty awesome.

  • @diobolic5150

Thanks, brother. Wow, that was a quick response. I'll definitely check out their website. Keep it brutal!!!

    -Wulf

  • I have a guitar-related question you probably haven't heard before.

On Gojira's album and your first EP, there's this pick scrape thing. It's really grating and sounds something like:

    "NIDDLEELIDDLIDDLEEEEOW"

How do you make this sound?

  • @CardPiranha Turn the pick on it's edge, mute the strings with your left hand, drag the pic from the high to the low side like a violin bow. That's it.

  • AMAZING SONG. how do the blackouts compare to the dimarzios? i want a rico 7 string so bad

  • I used to use Dava control picks but then switched to dunlop jazz 3's and like them much better. Hard and pointy which I find makes them much better for fast/accurate playing. IMO, the smaller size also makes it easier to move around and do pinch harmonics. I found a Dava control lying around and tried it out and I absolutely hate them now. So tell me, what do you like about them?

  • @danpluso I tried Jazz picks a long time ago. I wasn't comfortable with the smaller size and my playing was actually less accurate using them. I like the Dava picks because I've used them forever and I'm really not that "picky" xD

  • SICK

  • @Pwnersupreme

thanks:) im still learning my around youtube....

  • Once again Keith you totally blow me away. Killer work man.

  • I love that hoody man haha. I also love the intro. I really wish I could see you do more lead stuff. You clearly have a great concept for note choices and patterns. I feel like there's so much lead potential in you, just waiting to be unleashed. I know everyone else feels the same. Will we ever see you shred it up in a song? Is there any reason you're avoiding that kind of guitar playing, because maybe you think it's a cliche or something?

  • @partywithbonscott To be honest, I don't like shred guitar solosl. I suppose I could add some to my songs, but they sound and feel so heartless when I play them, and yeah, it would be cliche if I did it . It wouldn't add much to the song other than "hey look at me go", which I think every song I put up here on YouTube already does that. Sadly, my love for guitar solos is found in musical styles other than metal. I like blues and rock solos, because they have some heart and soul to them.

  • @diobolic5150 I know what you mean man. My solo style comes from guys like George Lynch, Reb Beach, Paul Gilbert, AND for newer guitarists, I like stuff like Jeff Loomis as well. I think that whole blues and rock style of soloing that guys like you and I probably grew up on, when put into modern music, you can succeed in making shredding that's soulful that really compliments the song. Thanks so much for answering that question though, it's something I've been curious about for a loonnnng time.

  • Holy crap Mr Keith, that outro is beautiful.

  • Great as usual,Please make download avail on e-music

  • no disrespect, but the ending was reminiscent of David Gilmour sweet style.

your the man. keep up the good work.

    thumbs up.

  • @FuneralFragz That's not disrespectful, Gilmour is one of my idols dude. Thanks! lol

  • seriously put a band together get a versatile vocalist and come destroy my town!

  • how much would that guitar run me approx?

  • @ScorchinBeats One with these exact specs would be about $2000 give or take.

  • nice guitar, nice song! like always!

  • This was fucking awesome.

  • Hey Keith, your drum tracks sound amazing! Can I ask how you make them? (details plz!)

  • @lightzor i ask the same question (o:

  • @lightzor I'm sorry my man, the method I use is very hard to explain (I use multiple programs to do them), I get asked this several times a day and it seems this is not a method most people want to try. It's very complicated and requires more work than most people are willing to invest. So I stopped wasting my breath and recommend people to just get S2.0 instead.

  • Awesome as always Keith. Always teasing us; you know we want your new record! :D

  • Amazing yet again!

  • another great song, can't wait for the new album=D

  • good work keith... an awesome creation....

does anyone know the tuning on that 7 string?

  • i like this.. wasnt sure at the start but its got a real hook some how.. cant put my finger on it.. good stuff!!

  • influenced by the faceless?

  • Love your tone <3

    Great tune !

  • sick track! you've really stepped the songwriting up

  • you made me cum in my pants again........im predicting future videos will also do the same......XD!!!!!!!

  • Wow that was godly, even better than your previous awesome efforts. Do you tend to pretty much play totally by ear or do you stick to scales a lot?

  • I was pumped when you released "Awaken the Stone King". Even being a "rough" version.. but THIS song is incredible! I knew you were going to top your last album but this new album I feel is going to crush the last with devastating results! Keep it up man!

  • sssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!
