I rather prefer Final Frontier over Insurrection (the Baku are morons) but I would skip this scene every time I would watch this movie, this scene is horrendous. Final Frontier still sucks, but after looking at it from the Nostalgia critic, looks better than Insurrection at least, but still, bad movie
@2wingo The older, the better, my young unexperienced padawan! My "replication organ" would reach for the two moons there. I like her very much! (Although, I'm a devoted Tallulah fan ...). The only thing I dislike about Uhura is her high pitched voice. I love the deep, husky voices - If you catch my drift, Daaaaahling!
@2wing Each to his own taste! But taste can change in the storms of life. My adoration and devotion to my Goddess Tallulah Bankhead last unwavering since 1974-08-14 (the day, I saw "Lifeboat" for the 1st time in my life) and will last till kingdom come. On this date I was 14 years and 11 months old. I didn't change my mind about her since this day ... Wasn't she a sweet Daaahling?
@PungiFungi aww yes but its still Star Trek i mean it had some of the cheesiest side effects on T.V. yet I am so drawn to it I love Star Trek,, maybe because, it was so cheesy it was good :D
This is brilliant. Some Trek fans bash this as sexist, but I don't. Could William Shatner pull this off? Would we want him to? NOOO! I would hope I could look as good as Ms. Nichols at that age. Totally awesome!
i LOVE Uhura, and I LOVE this scene! She must be around 50 here, and she is so fine. An amazing woman for the ages.....I love Trek!!!! By the way, don't you love how Uhura was the first person to use a Bluetooth back in the 60"s???? think about that, AND Kirk's flip-phone (communicator)....
@PeachWookiee I have the new La-La Land Records Limited Edition soundtrack with liner notes crediting Nichelle Nichols for the film version (included on disc 1), and Hiroshima for the album version (released in 1989 and included on disc 2).
@MagicAlDF There seems to be conflict about that, but if she was recorded singing it, that's great. I seem to recall that she stated in her autobiography that her version wasn't included in the final version of the film.

This scene was weird when I was twelve-years-old, and it's even weirder now.

This is character derailment at it's finest.
Uhura doesn't need to be naked, doesn't need to seduce. THAT'S NOT PART OF HER CHARACTER.

What a way to derail a character. Shatner wrote this movie, so he apparently doesn't have a very modern view on women.

@Tootiewootiebooty The idea of it was enough to turn my guts.

Okay, Nichelle Nichols wasn't bad looking for a woman who was almost 60, but that seriously made my sexual organs crawl into my stomach.

I'm surprised this has gotten so few views considering all the pop culture references.

@cannedcarrots , it is one thing if we are talking about Uhura when she was on the orginal series, not when she was pushing toward 60!

@zenbrooklyn It's widely believed that we have Cell-Phones and Blue-Tooth because they were based off of the original ideas on Star Trek. =)

What a famous scene! Legendary! And her voice (I believe it's hers) is just divine. Thank you for sharing.

@Majcicaful It's actually the lead singer of Hiroshima, but it sounds close to how she sounded in TOS.
