This metal gear solid was not that great, it was hardly a game at all, mostly cutscenes, I guess they forgot it was supposed to be a game, but peace walker and 3 are the best.

It wouldn't be MGS if it didn't break the fourth wall. Kojima has always done that in order to give clear instructions to the player and add some comic relif to the otherwise very heavy story. So it's not a bad thing at all!

@00GTAlexander it's still one of my favorite movies :D the cutscenes are all necessary since theres so much story to sum up and I wouldn't have it any other way.

the game by it's self takes 5 hours while finishing it without dying, skipping all cutscenes and on liquid easy. on the boss extreme it takes forever.

the fourth wall is the imaginary wall that separates the story from the audience. to the characters, the story is reality but to us it is fiction. when the story breaks it's own reality (Saying "use the start button") it breaks the fourth wall.

@GENERALzod777 but Metal Gear has ALWAYS broken the fourth wall, it's one of it's little ticks that carries through the franchise. Like "I have a bad feeling about this" in Star Wars.

breaking the fourth wall is when a video game flat out talks about how to do things like pressing the start button. It's basically the game acknowledging it's a game and not real.
