  • kerry is 29!

  • Rick if u every do a game show can I be your male susan stafford like she and chuck was on wheel of fortune

  • what a nard.. lol

  • BEST GAME SHOW EVER!

  • That was a pretty easy final round. I would have beaten Rick quite easily.

  • Only bad thing about this show was it came on where I live during the second half of the price is right @ 11:30am

  • B.... A.... Bardot

  • scrabble was the greatest game show ever i loved the theme music and grew up watching this show i miss it

  • I graduated from high school with a relative of Chuck Woolery.

  • Rick is an awesome player!

  • weirdo alert

  • Rick is Good!

  • I know you must be about 70 now so I don't say this lightly, but you're really obnoxious here. I hope you've since mellowed out a bit.

  • Nicely done, Mr. Mandl. Used to watch this show with my mom. A lot of contestants in the game show world come and go, but you seemed downright likable.

  • A recommended variation for the board game Scrabble is to color three of the tiles red (stoppers) to indicate that if you draw one of those tiles, you've lost your turn.

  • I miss this show. Does anyone know if any of the celebrity episodes are on youtube?

  • i always wondered if those contestants were real.

  • I miss this show, but at least we've still got Chuck. He's one of my FAV game show hosts.

  • that's not how you play scrabble...

  • lol i immediately knew the word 'sunshine' right after the clue is given

  • Scrabble seems like Merv Griffithin's Crossword. And the thing is that both shows had a short run on Television.

  • Um, Scrabble was on the air for 6 years.

  • Oh well that tells you I hardly payed attention to this show. But if Memory reserves, I remeber watching this episode, and I kinda got stuck between this, Wheel of Fortune and Jeoprdy!

  • Crosswods had all the charm and personality missing from Scrabble. Too bad because it had a good premise.

  • As much as I like Chuck, Scrabble always looked rigged to me. I don't think it mattered what numbered tiles they chose. If they were liked by the producers, they wouldn't get the stoppers.

  • Certain aspects of this remind me of the new gameshow "Camouflage".

  • Camouflage looked more like Now You See It if you asked me.

  • Does Rick still have the money he won from that show?...or you reckon he spent it all since 1987? LOL I bet he did put some and saved it for later in the future..i would had if i was his age back then. Sometimes i wish i was a teenager in the 80's instead of a little 6 year old when that episode right there was aired. So i could enjoy more things back then and wear those M.C. Hammer parachute pants. LOL

  • id have to say the 80s had the best game shows ever.

  • Man, I remember these shows and I haven't seen them since I was a toddler.

Shows like this, the $25K pyramid, and Press Your Luck also had the best theme musics.

  • @The1980sRock no kidding cartoons were the best too during the 80's only Sonic the hedgehog in 1993 t0 1995 and Pokemon were the best cartoons of the 1990's and Teenagemutant Ninjaturtles

  • @The1980sRock

i agree 80s game shows ruled, used to love this one and Press Your Luck

  • @The1980sRock As did the 70s! The 70s and 80s were the two most productive decades for game shows!

  • @The1980sRock true i have to say that the 70 to the late 80s are the golden age of game shows. Almost every show from all 3 networks(CBS,NBC, and ABC) was a hit.

  • @jsutiger07 it sucks i was born in 82 but scrabble was one of my favorite games shows along with fun house

  • This guy looks like a serial killer.

  • Rick was called Chucks stalker Due to the fact he was on wheel when he was hosting, scrabble and Ling

  • My uncle recorded this episode for me when it was on USA, you did well, Rick.

  • Rick's a baller.

  • a future auctioneer

  • This is the version I remember when I was kid. I absolutely loved this show, along with many others. I would love to see this and classic episodes of The Price Is Right on GSN.

  • I remeber I used to watch this when I was a little kid and I loved it. I was a big game show fan as a child

  • Rick reminds me of another enthusiastic Baptist minister/game show contestant on Press Your Luck.

  • BRING SCRABBLE BACK THIS SHOW ROCKED!

  • I always watched 'Scrabble' when it was on NBC.

  • I'm very happy to have your episodes on video from its second airing on USA in 1992. Good player. :)

  • Wonder what the numbered tiles were made of?

  • Rick kinda looks like The Tourette's Guy

  • i watched this when i was 6, i used to think there was people under the desk catching the tiles and pushing them up. i sill think there little gnomes under there.

  • I was 8 and I never got the chance to watch this show cause my parents would never leave me the fuck alone! But thanks to YT, those shitty days are over :)

  • what do you mean they never left you alone?

  • they were always on my ass for nothing, making me do shit like take baths and other stuff EVERYDAY...I could never get JUST ONE day to myself without ANY trouble from them!!!

  • Chuck Woolery had a girlfriend in 1987. Yes that March 16 he turned 50.

  • I thought he was 46 in 1987

    1941 + 46 years old = 1987

  • during game shows i always have one person i can't stand and i do NOT want to win.

rick is one of those people.

  • You had better hope Rick doesn't read your comment. The Rick who posted this clip is the same Rick who is in this clip.

  • Here's a show that really needs to come back.

  • God I love this show. It had everything. Catcthy theme music, flashy set, excellent gameplay (w/intriguing clues), classy host, great contestants... it had it all.

  • I agree

  • All that for only 10 grand? What's that today? 100 thou?

  • What did Denise work as?

  • Great job Rick! I think you pissed of Chuck!

  • Dam, your good. I love it when people post videos of them self on game shows. It gets around that copyrighted video thing.

  • You had guts while introducing yourself, Rick. If you ask me, Chuck looked a little annoyed when you mentioned your tarantula's name. Probably reminded him of the little show that he used to host in the 70s, which I know you were a contestant on, but still. Have you seen the clip from "Greed" when a contestant took a stab at Chuck for that?

  • Well done on the final - there's no way I would've gotten those so quickly! Congratulations!

  • Rick has a tarantula named Vanna?

  • No offense, RickMandl, but you are such a speedy talker when describing yourself and your family.

  • The reason for his speedy talking was that he used to be a Top 40 DJ; radio announcers have a tendency to do that. But nowadays, they talk slower and listeners don't get confused as to what was being said. I found it odd for him talking fast, too, but that's part of his personality.

  • You missed the first word round.

  • Do you have clips of yourself on Wheel of Fortune and Love Connection?

  • rick nice work on the speedwords that was so quick

  • oy, talk about annoying, sorry rick

  • actually i think during the sprint chuck was trying to out-rick rick

  • I would have gotten "tires" right off the bat. Thanks, Michelin.

  • Wow, this show brings me back. Watched it everyday.

  • Very nicely done! That's how to play! You are a character for sure, thanks for posting.

  • Wow great job Rick! I won big on a game show too, (Wheel of Fortune) but I'd have to say you're the complete package, great personality and a very good player. Congratulations, and if you have any more shows of Scrabble that you were on I'd love to see you play more.

  • After Rick got the third word Denise looked at the clock and just basically said "I lost" when she put her head down.

  • Is Scrabble going to be on the Game Show Network?

  • As long the heads of GSN are stuck up their asses and as long as Freemantle Media (the company that owns the rights to the Reg Grundy shows) loosens their grip on this show and "Sale of the Century," don't count on it.

  • Well, they should stop being so foolish and start airing those 2 game shows on GSN in their entirety.

  • If Reg Grundy productions and NBC would stop being a bunch of assholes, maybe we'll see those game shows on Game Show NEtwork.

  • Fremantle owns the rights to both Scrabble and Sale of the Century. I agree that they should pull their heads out of their nether-regions and let these great shows air on GSN.

  • @godgundam10 Except Hasbro owns the classic game. I guess the Hub would be better to put this classic game show on the map. Hasbro Studios distributes the 1984-90 episodes of "Scrabble" along with the 1993 episodes along with Fremantle Media.

  • @megamanj2004 Fremantle own the three game shows from the Reg Grundy library including "$ale of the Century" and "Scattergories". Hasbro is the only company that owns the classic game. Hasbro produced the 80's cartoons like "The Transformers", "GI Joe" and "My Little Pony & Friends", and as for the rest, they produced "Family Game Night" with Todd Newton which is on the Hub right now. Tell them to bring this great game show on another channel. Fremantle, Hasbro, let them do it!

  • YESSSSS! More Scrabble eps.!!! Thanx a bunch!!!

  • Rick! You're an awesome contestant!! Were you on more Scrabble episodes? Post 'em, please! :-)

  • did u notice when that he had his hands over the plunger ready to start the sprint he's one dedicated contestant

  • Hey, Rick. You think you can post the rest of these Scabble episodes that you were on? If you have them? Scrabble was one of my favorite game shows and until GSN gets their heads out of their nether-reigions and gets the rights to it, I'll have to rely on YouTube to see it.

  • Rick really is weird.
