Why do lefties always hold stuff in a manner that's just slightly off? One would assume it'd just be a mirror image of your average right hand holding a pencil, but it always looks like a bird claw grasping a tree branch or something.

@markrebec Because they — at least whilst writing — have to make sure the back of their hand doesn't smudge what they've just written. Right-handers doesn't have this immediate "problem", although many illustrators — right-handed or left-handed — do similar grips as this to stop themselves from smudging their lines.
