  • Another product of Belfast Ireland Lol.

  • I like this sound .. true to the genre .. nice & musically-skilful, & authentic .. unlike some attempts that exist around the shop these days ... nice graphcs, too .. congrats on this post ..

  • Yeah ,and those Black trackers never got paid...should have turn the on the bosses

  • Angel, I'm glad you have a kind heart towards the disadvantaged. We must warmly welcome back Mohamed al-Murf when he resumes his comments. He recently, after many months, mastered the word "gronk". Isn't that MARVELLOUS?! How privileged we are to communicate with such an advanced mind!

  • Angel, we must be generous towards the ,less fortunate! It is NOT nice to mock the afflicted!!

  • Yes, Angel, Mohamed al-Murf had the wonderfully educational, though somewhat traumatic experience of being bashed by both Lebs AND Aussies at the Cronulla riots. Consequently, he has severe identity confusion, which is why he likes to pretend he's an expert on the Kellys. We must humour him. He thinks Ned was a bushranger. When he grows up, ( in 2035 or thereabouts) we'll explain what a real bushranger was, in words of 3 syllables and fewer.

  • Angel, the dear child is a Lebanese immigrant who yearns to belong, hence strongly needs to pretend that he's an Aussie. He spends his dole money going to remedial English lessons ( as is more than apparent) and graciously drops in every so often to share the benefits of tertiary education with us all. I'm so glad that my taxes support such a worthy person!

  • Hi murf! Wow- you are going to be busy, aren't you? Where do you propose to commence the hunt? Australia is a large land mass, in case you're unaware of this.

  • @murf69

Ahhh shut the hell up, you fried brained freak.

  • @murf69

    Or rather, brain fried freak.

Yeah, that rolls off the tongue much better.

  • He wasn't a bushranger. He was a bank robber and murderer.

  • What are YOU on, mate? How can anyone be a victim of "percussion", unless they go to loud discos?:)

Being an outlaw doesn't automatically mean you're a bushranger, and vice versa- He was mostly a bank robber , horse thief and cattle duffer. He also sent a parcel of bull's testicles to a childless woman. Real classy stuff.

  • proof of Irish ingenuity. Bullet-proof armor! in the 1800s. Fuck yes.

  • gotta love them irish

  • @rifleman Not Irish ingenuity- Joe Byrne copied the design from Chinese armour.

  • Joe Byrne lived with Chinese in their camps and was fluent in their language. Why shouldn't he have got the design from them?

  • I am not making assumptions and am pushing no agenda- this subject has been discussed in academic circles. I just happen to be interested in Chinese history. No need to get your knickers into a twist. YOU are making assumptions if you think that gold diggers were necessarily peasants. The diggings attracted all classes.

  • Murf, with such brilliant spelling and grammar, you really should be writing children's books. Failing that, have you ever considered engaging the services of a competent amanuensis to record your sagacious pearls for posterity?

  • @Murf. Felicitations! The mellifluousness of your loquacity is matched only by your stellar cerebral efforts. I am enchanted to see that you spend your Centrelink payments on gaining an education. Most people of your dysfunctional and disadvantaged background prefer to blow their bludge-money at the pub, the TAB or at pitbull fights. You are a magnificient exception. I feel so honoured that you have deigned to converse with me. Thank you so much!!

  • @rifleman1122 Irish He was Australian born and bred

  • @lapalad dude he was irish not aussie sure he's born here but if you want to be specific unless he had some abo in him he wasn't a REAL australian they were here before they sent the convict ships hell they were here when flinders "found" the country

  • @dabeast5816

your a fuck wit racist cunt he was born here so he is australian and fuck off with that abo shit they are aboriginal australians deal with it cock sucker

  • @kurtostara dick head if you bothered to read up on the history of ned kelly and or australia you would find ned kelly was still a convict from ireland sure he was born here but what the f*ck does that have to do with anything yeah i was wrong calling them abos i just couldn't be f*cked typing aboriginal australians sure we call him an aussie icon but these days that don't mean shit

  • @kurtostara all his family was irish and he lived in a community of irish people so hes basically irish just born in australia.

  • Ned Kelly was just having the crack...

  • Craic, you fuckin pillock...

  • they invented the word "craic" in the '80s. For years before that it was crack you pillock.

  • The British can really be dicks some times.

  • Wow it is awsome to see stories and folk songs about my family

  • I'm referring to 200 years ago ... not today.

  • They shot and hung Ned Kelly because that's what the english did in those days to anyone who bucked their authority.

The scrap became serious when his mother was given three years jail for hitting a drunken trooper over the head with a frying pan. She was in her own home defending her 15 year-old daughter from him. The establishment-lovers of Austalia still sook that he kicked their arses for a brief moment. The rest of us wished he'd finished the job.

  • The English ruled with an iron fist back then. We were c***s to many many many people. Even our own people... but mainly foreigners.

  • Ned Kelly was a bad ass mother fucker. The rest of us could only wish to have the balls he had to buck our corrupt governments. RIP to him.

  • Why did they shoot Ned Kelly?

  • to arrest him

  • I wish he won - that would of been cool.

  • I didn't realise I had not posted a comment on this wonderful folksong. Well done Sean, you're a true minstrel/bard and your charismatic spirit works hand-in-hand with your songs/music/poetry. Margaret Meek

  • god bless all the irish in oz,gr8 vids to mate

  • Its worth pointing out that the 4 policemen that his gang killed were all Irish born (unlike Kelly) and they left behind 12 children to be cared for by their widows.

  • yea irish immigrants are famus for taking police or fireman yobs in their new countres (australia, usa, canada and so on)

  • Thats bullshit

  • or not!!!

  • prejudice

  • It appears obvious how Ned Kelly felt about the Austrailian/British authorities. I would like to ask, "How did he feel about the aborigines of Austrailia?" Thanks.

  • Dear usmonroedoctrine, Really interesting question.

I don't have an answer to it at present.

I can not recall any information about Ned Kelly where his attitude to Native Australians was mentioned. Not in anything I've read to date anyway.

I am exploring the history of Ned Kelly and his time at present and I will keep your question very much in mind. Best Wishes. Ausfolk

  • ... But Kelly was known to have beaten a wandering Chinese worker that was wanting some water on a hot day.

  • The aboriginal trackers gave up on him didn't they?

  • Yes they certainly did not find the Kelly boys.

I heard that as the trackers came from Queensland they could not track, or operate very well in the cold climate of the Victorian high country, also that the Victorian police failed to use them properly because they did not want the black trackers to get the credit for finding the Kelly's.

  • I think they also spent a lot of time (while hiding) amongst friends.

I heard the trackers were never paid. I guess they had to come up with the goods to get any money :-(

  • Yes. You are Right about the support for the Kelly's.

They had to have a lot of support from the local population to operate as long as they did and evade capture.Part of the Kelly story or myth, is that a large number of people were on their way to help the Kelly's fight the police at Glenrowan and that Ned sent a message telling them to turn back.

  • I'd like to think thats true. Honorable eh?

  • I have read this somewhere too? but I don't think it is true. One of the other members of Ned's gang was charged for fighting with a Chinese man Before they were outlawed, but the charge was dismissed.

  • That wouldn't surprise me. The police were a law to themselves anyway.

  • @ausfolk It is true he was charged with attacking Ah Fook but the case was dismissed due to lack of evidence and difficulty with translation as Fook could only speak little english

  • Ned kellys cool

  • Terrific! Let's hear more Ned Kelly songs!

  • The Story of Australia's most well known Bushranger Outlaw. Ned Kelly was the son of a poor Irish convict. Given a hard time by the police He rose up to defy them and left his mark on Australian history.
