I was lucky enough to see Rent a few days ago with Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal reprising their roles. I've seen others in the roles of Mark and Roger and no one really compares. I honestly think Adam and Anthony just have a strong connection with the play and it really shows in their preformances

I actually happened to see Joey Fatone in the stage production, and I was totally cynical going in, but he did a knock out job the night I was there, and I was sitting in the 3rd row, pretty far stage left, where Mark often sings his little narration bits. I was all prepared to hate on him, but the only complaint I could come up with that night were the 12 year olds screaming for his autograph at the stage door after the show.

I don't broadcast myself as a Renthead by any means. I followed the OBC. I saw the tour this year with Adam and Anthony.

But I have to say that is simply awful. The entire thing is just offkey, and I have the sheet music- I know how tough those harmonies are.

I hate leaving negative comments towards actors, because no, I don't know the conditions in which this was produced, but no Roger should ever perform THIS offkey. Along with a half-hearted, sharp/flat, badly riffing Mark.
