Paul, give this a go. Dig holes in the side of your mine shaft on the way up the tracks, put a cart in each hole and if I'm right it should propel you everytime you hit one without the carts in the wall moving anywhere. thumbs up so he can try this

you need a second track and another minecart.make a trench two blocks long and one block deep,then put another track next to it with a resting spot at the first square of the trench and have them go about the same distance and put a block in front of the spare track's path and make sure it stays diagonal-put the block at the square up top

make a circle of track using 4 pieces in a circle and place two carts on it they will spin really fast in circles..then place that right next to your track and when the cart touches it it will shoot off, pplace these at a few points along your track to boost your cart

SOLUTION: Build the railway to where you want carts to go. Than at bottom where your main railway stops. Build a separate track. Where you can put 2 carts next to each other, so one moves the other up. than at top the same thing.

when you put a cart next to the cart your using to go up or down, it will push it up.

like you did putting one cart down, than placing another making it self propel.

So when you would place cart next to cart you want to go up. it will push it up the hill.

Make booster block by having one piece of track and a stone at each end of it then the cart will go on the track so if it is at the side of the normal track and you push a cart by the booster block it will gain speed

Right... Pyro If you make those cirlce things shorter so its 3 on each side you can just us one with 3 minecarts on it and when it hits your other cart the cart will go forever :)

2 will not work I've tried even if they start spinning you need 3 for it to work.

Just make this circle thing with the carts and line your other track up next to it...

Whenever your cart hits the spinning carts it will go really fast all the way back up

Also you don't need a full identical track, just a straight track with a cart on it beside the main track at certain points to boost it along. So just a small bit of track with another cart on it anywhere the cart slows down.

You can do a really small circle (as small as possible) and just put two carts down on it and they spin really fast. Any carts on a track near them get boosted almost infinitely.

Make a circle of tracks, 4 tracks round. And then load it up with 3-4 carts and it will unlimited spin, place it next to the bottom and it will propell the cart xD

When mine carts are boosted with this method, they get glitched and will not loose any momentum. This means that no matter how many hills or mountains they climb, they will not loose speed. So if you want to get back to the surface from the bottom of the map, just build one of these boosting systems and you'll be up in no time. :D

One way that this might be done is to build a buttload of these boosting units. If you just build one giant loop, the slope will probably destroy the momentum (might be true also if you only have 2 identical tracks). You could put the boosting units on bothside of the track, or just one side if you like.

You don't need to build an identical track, u just need 2 circle tracks at each side of the main track to propell it up ( O = circle track | = main track)

Pyro, at the bit where the rail just goes straight down for a while, you can build a horizontal rail on the side every 5 squares or so and then do that boosting thing with two minecarts each there so that every time a new cart goes by it'll get a little push every time. Problem with this is that it's gonna need a lot of materiel to go all the way up a ramp like that.

make a second railway right next to the first one, and on the second one, leave a mine cart on the bottom, when you want to go up, simply place your second one next to the one that's already down, and right click fast, and you will boost up. Same concept applies for going straight (thumb up?) =]
