I have been listening to Maiden since 1985. I am a HUGE fan of Bruce both with Maiden AND as a solo artist (and even selected Samson tracks.)

This may be the greatest testament of all as to why I love Bruce.

I have the studio recordind of this particular version and definitely agree it's the best version the studio one finishes with a flute or tin whistle or something along those lines and sounds very medieval. In fact there's lots of rare stuff on that album I even have a sneaking suspicion that it contains some of the "lost" Keith Olson sessions it's one of my prized possessions! Anyway nice to hear this version live! :)
