For more than a year I've been getting good results running Linux on an old Pentium III that I purchased for 70 bucks. No gaming (I'm just not into that, so why pay for it?) Just the usual surfing, audio, video, and streaming media.

my pc has specs that are better than any MBP and i paid $200 less than one. its quicker does much more multitasking and i have had no problems what so ever. im a computer software engineer and there is a reason that all of us use pcs. Professional anythings use pcs (sound technicians, the government, the army, and any business) anything you can do on a mac i can get for free on my pc plus any open source program that i want. And vista is not what causes problems its poor 3rd party programs.

i have yet to have my pc laptop or desktop crash on me. and there are way more options for a pc user when it comes to media, i have the latest photoshop and gimp (open source program). i have done research on final cut and i found that there is a better video editor called pinnacle. i have that and windows movie maker (which is not the best ill admit) and a number of other open source programs. either way i can have either exactly what a mac user has or something better. PS i dont hate macs

Sorry but I said Final Cut Studio. With I thinkhas 5 programs in it. Motion, Dvd Studio Pro, SoundTRACK PRO, Final Cut Pro and Live Type. Those were used in mot of the movies comming out now. For example The Hulk, Lord Of The Rings, King Kong, Sydney White, Jumper, 300, XMen, CloverField and many many others. When it comes to profesional visual effects, graphics, compositing, and so on Macs have more options.

no because when you do your research you will see that final cut is 3rd in best video editor, it is the best on a mac, but wen compared to a pc, a pc has MUCH more options from open source (FREE SOFTWARE) programs and not to mention the countless others for sale. which i can get for free. im glad you named a couple of movies out of the millions that were done on a pc. saying a mac is better because of a program is ridiculous thats like saying you cant wear that shoe cuz ur a girl

I didnt say it was the best. Also for PROFESIONAL video you have really all the programs you need. Adobe production premium suite and Final Cut Studio. Maybe Maya. Before almost all movies were made on Pcs now almost all movies are made on Macs. Your right by saying Pc's have more options, they have more options in everything. Actually Macs have a lot less problems then PC's. They run smother, faster, better graphics & can handle more things going on at once without lag. I help girls & guys with Macs because they simply don't know how to operate it. It is different then a PC. The latest Macs can run PC programs at a faster rate then PC's can run the programs even though they are running programs that were DESIGNED for PC use. It's rare to come across a virus that is Mac compatible & Macs crash 99% less then PC's.

No, when they do crash you press and hold the power button for 8 seconds and it shuts it down. Then press it again to restart it, submit a report to apple and when the next update comes out... tada, the problems that were reported before that update have been fixed.
