I agree--the vast majority of decisions made within a school are top-down. Teachers and students rarely have a substantial voice in the decision-making process. This seems like a really interesting way to enfranchise teachers and students.
Hmm, maybe we weren't clear enough. It isn't really for course feedback as much as a school decision making forum. So, Ashley is proposing a bill requiring teachers to return papers before the next one is due. A teacher could propose that an inservice day get used to discuss environmental education, and then other people would take positions on that idea. The question is how much effect would this actually have on the ultimate decision. Our POV teacher said it could have influence in his school.
ah, i see. the forum could be useful for school-wide (for PD day content and other issues) and within the classroom where students are given a space to have a voice. This idea could be built into school intranet system so it's easy to propose new bills.
wisdom of the crowds for the classroom - this is great! I like the quick, ongoing feedback from students (instead of summative, end of course feedback) to make for a more responsive classroom while empowering students.
