john what would u advice a non-strength athlete who just wants bigger legs and doesnt care about strength at all(aka hypertrophy lover)?still squatting everyday?
@BROZKNOWS yes i love hypertrophy .of course i respect strength athletes:)
i squat 6 times a week now and magically all my lifts increased :P.i see how it goes i train each bodypart 3 times basic stuff but i found out that quads and calves for me recover faster so maybe hit em more .i love big volumes :).upper body i feel its different though.for me i feel its more prone to joint pain and im a short mofo so lower body is going cool bit upper ,,,ahhh lol :(
@vorkutaman An olympic weightlifter wouldn't want to be doing "12 - 15s" . This will just put you up an unnecessary weight class with hardly any strength gains as you'll be getting gains more from sarcoplasmic hypertrophy and not the actual contractile muscle fibres. 5s is fine.
@needabloodyname There is a big difference between competition and training. The videos you see of training could take 5 attempts but we only see the successful ones. In competition, you don't get the luxury of all of those misses. You also control the entire warm-up leading up to your big attempts in training.
Hey Broz, really appreciate all the advice, quick question, can i do front squats everyday after my back squats if I feel like it? Or is there a limit to how often they should be done?
@55AllOut This question is posed all the time and if you notice there are many lifters who on the concentric part their knees internally rotate or cave in on the concentric part of the lift. They've been doing this for years and it's not a problem at all. This concern comes from the fitness experts or so called "pros" who are limited to a narrow understanding of lifting e.g. 8-12 reps, slow controlled movements, knees not going beyond toes and all that nonsense.
you're inspiring man.

@kwstas67 yes, but with sets of 20+ reps. after you get over the dizzy spells and vomiting, your legs will get big - not strong, but big.
