@1960unclemort who said that! let me tell you,i've heard that a few times before.now u got to remember that scene like any other scene there's competition and usually if there's competition there'e also jealousy.alot of people claim to be this and that.were they more poppy punk? sure. but i read an heard of stories;from more than one source that billy actually got hit by some guy from the audience,knocked out! but got back up and kept singing!! now if that is posing,i don't know what to tell u.

@desamator11 i suppose you could call idol a proffessional i saw gen x at the lyceum and a section of the audience threw (plastic) glasses give them their dues they played on .on another note i once met a musician who played with idol and said `he would do anything to be a star.`

@1960unclemort The Clash were and will always be my favorite band ever,but to be fair they were more than a little guilty at times of being 'poseurs' themselves.That said Generation x had some awesome songs especially Kiss Me Deadly,but oh my gosh,what a colossal knob Billy turned out to be!

@seerauberjohnny you`re right the clash (the best band ever ) could certainly be poseurs ,but they maintained `every pose is an emotion` which to a certain extent is maybe true.being in a band has always been largely about `image`.i mean some bands say `we are not interested in image etc`but they often develop an image of `no image`!?!?

I remember when the more pop orientated punk bands were called 'power pop'. You are right, Rich Kids were also called that as were the Skids, Rudi and loads of others, its a legitimate term.

mostly coming out of america nowadays.

Saw Billy Idol perform 5 years ago in NYC..He was still doing his thing and looked reaaly good(totally fit!!) I want to see him a couple more times before he quits the game!

2nd concert I ever went to. Devo was the first. I was 11 or 12 when I saw him play

at Nassau Collesium in Long Island NY. It was BIlly Idol and Adam Ant. The concert was called the Valentine's Day Massecre. It was GREAT!!! I went dressed like and one of the Ants(Kevin Moony) and my poor dad suffered it all while my best friend and I went bonkers.
