  • aah (: imm welsh

  • good effort for an Englishman =]

  • If every word in the alphabet book started phonetically then it could lead a child into the false assumption that that's how things work!

  • Lol! Yes, you're right, the English language is extremely irregular with it's spelling.

  • Comment removed

  • you could have done it in alphabteteical order

  • Your pronunciation of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is way off.

  • @Gallers

plus, ll is neither l nor ch. English doesn't have that sound. Google it, guys :)

  • @Szczepek90 I know.

  • @Gallers

I know that *you* know :)

  • lol nice, I feel like I learned something, I think

  • lol, eunuch probably shouldn't be in a child's alphabet book any way, you, er, slice it

  • P is for pterodactyl.

  • and also for pneumonia.

  • @Elelki i really want to say ;and also for your mum' but that would be mean

  • blehinshire

  • I guess you guys have a lot of time on your hands.

  • whats wrong with "thread' and 'cyclist'?

  • well im welsh and i can say it

    Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogeryllll wyndrobwyllllandeseiliogogogoch.

    jelous much x :P x

  • That's offensive to welsh.

    Like me.

    Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogeryllllwyndrobwyllllandeseiliogogogoch.

    i can say it finee(Y).

  • tbh thats not saying it, tahts typing it, AND you spelt it wrong. nice

  • wat a boring stupid video you guys are sad!!!

  • So "boring" and "stupid" but I'll bet you STILL watched it until the end, huh?

What's so "sad" about point out how odd/confusing the English language is?

(Obviously not counting the Welsh one as their pronunciation is very different to ours.)

  • you guys have alot of time

  • yes, the english ortograph is tough...

  • Wnglish spelling is absolutley ridiculous and inconsistent lol, i thought someone would have seen sence and changed it by now!

I speak welsh = 100% phonetic. just about everybody can read it if they know the letters even if they don't understand!

    God bless you ##

  • Now then i think i am going to use some of them next time i call a company that askes me for my post code or something and ask me to spell it they always have there own things like z for zoolo well for exaple now i can comfuse them with k is for gnome :P

  • what about p is for ptarmigan?

  • M is for myocardial infarction, like the one im having right now

  • WHATTA FUCK?! oO u scare the shit outta me >:[

  • the girls kinda hot.. kinda

  • The "Ll" is one letter in the Welsh alphabet... and it WAS in a child's alphabet book... or was that just a bit of paper that my elder sister's taped on there with Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch on it?

  • Lmao!

Nice try on pronouncing that welsh word

  • Yeah, I didn't get it in the first 10 seconds, but the letters used have the first letters silent.

E for eunich was funny though, HEHE

  • I don't get it... but it's funny. :D

  • Those words are in there because they sound absolutely nothing like the letter they represent. Bot because knives are pointy.

  • p is for pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovalcanoconiosis . . . its a word, look it up the the medical dictionary.longest word in the english language lol

  • Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is a lung inflamation contracted by inhaling microscopic particles of silica (as the name implies). When I read about it with my English class a few years ago, it was defined as being contracted by getting the dust of old books in your lungs.

Pneumono - Pertaining to breathing/the lungs

    Ultra microscopic - Self explanatory

    Silico - Of Silica

    Volcano - Inflamation

    Coniosis - Caused by dust

  • i thought itis was inflamation

    as in

    hepitis, conjuntivitis etc

  • The suffix -itis means "pertaining to" in the specific sense of inflamatory disease. Like gingivitis is infection of gingiva (gums). -itis used to be paired with "nonos" (disease).

Volcano is from Latin "volcanus", burning mountain, but also "of flames". In this sense, it's describing inflamed aveoli, I believe.

  • inflamed doesent have anyhting todo with flames tho, it means swelling, like gingitivis is swelling of the gums etc

  • Oh yes, I know that. I'm just guessing here. Maybe the sensation it causes?

  • oh ive got another one:

A is for antidisestablishmentinterionism (look it up)

  • oops it is actually:

    A is for antidisestablishmentantarianism

    (now look it up)

  • omg! thatss the longest word ive ever heard///seen

  • lol! all of the words have the first letter silent!!! SOO funny!!!

  • ahaha who on earth is gonna put "eunuch" or "xenon" or any other ridiculous vid. thats why i love this video. unrealistic :)

  • Also, the K is for Knife shouldn't e in there, because then we'll have kids with murderous intents running loose.

  • I believe that is the general idea!

  • Aubergene?!?? What does that mean anyway?

  • British: Eggplant

    American: Dark Purple

  • hahahaaa

  • do it in alphabetical order it would be funnier

  • Is the L word the name of the biggest train station in the world? Because I recognise it...

  • English must be one of the worst languages for pronunciation that is inconsistent, hehe, it has been influenced by so many other languages. I've got a vlog in the works about that difficulty, hehe, hopefully I'll get it posted eventually ^^

  • Wtf is a EUNICH?

  • A male with their genitiles removed. They usually worked as slaves for the leaders of anchient kingdoms

  • What?

  • It was a response to Isgortio's question about what a Eunich is

  • Another excellent concept from our super-talented duo!

  • You would have got that welsh word if you'd tried harder. What a slacker.

  • lol! so funny and true! Yay we English finally get featured with a couple of smart intellegent people saying things that amuse me!

  • E-Is for Eunich! OUCH! That made me laugh and cringe

  • kl video lol, r u guys frm coventry or near there coz u snd lik it :)

  • so true the words are always so odd, and loving the what would jesus do band on you arm.

  • I'm British :D but i don't get it :C

  • Basically they are a combination of words that don't start like they are spelt. Like, 'Gnome' sounds like it should be spelt like nome. Like knife, nife, One, won, and so on.

Others are just rediculously long that only 5% of the population can understand...

  • Oh thanks Lol I see now

  • why can't you hear a pterodacty go to the loo?

becuase it has a silent "P"!!!!

  • That and they are ex-stinked, har har har...

  • yeah that to!

  • i find it insulting that they mock such a wonderwall place name

  • They didn't mock it. They just said it was very long, so long that they're not going to try and prononce it.

  • i love their way of showing eunuch.. its hilarious..

and they're so right bout all these words..

  • OMG!!! hahaha!!! that was soooooooo funny yeah, I'm gonna subscribe!

  • llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

    is pronounced lan-fer-pull-gwin-if-go-gerik-win-drob-if-lan-silly-o-go-go-gork

  • wow!

thanks.. i was just going to ask if any1 could tell me how its pronounced.. =]

    its so long!

  • I HATE THAT FUKING PLACE!!!

lolz once me mum asked what places are up ahead so i basically started sayin a bunch of crap like timmy would XD

  • That welsh word is llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

  • thats a place isnt it? a tran station

  • i've been there

  • luv it! when i was little, my mum would read an alphabet book like that to me and when we came to "xylophone" i'd get so confused.

  • I'm going to assume that most of the people that keep commenting you guys with disrespectful crap about how boring you are, are American.

    Guess what guys?

    This is ENGLISH HUMOUR

    I laughed anyway~

Some people just do not apprieciate the subtlenosity of our country's sense of humour..

    Poo to them^^

    Nice videos~^^~

  • I'm English and this is really not funny in my opinion.

  • lol u have nothing more to do do you?

  • W is for WTF WTF O_o

  • absoluetly... if the point was to confuse the poor child

  • E is for Eunuch

    LOL!

  • hehehe - all of the letters are pronunciation variables. how to confuse a child or what!

  • Omg, I LOVE this!

  • Charly sounds Northern (hooray!), which bit?

  • Lan-vire-poolth-guin-gill-go-ger-u-

    queern-drob-ooll-hlandus-ilio-gogo

    -goch

  • i didn't get why this was funny until the end, and then i had to watch it all again... great vid!

  • u know if ur welsh then that word is easy. Lol my sister charly left a message on ur comment board. she got totaly syqed that u guyz had the same name and refused 2 go to bed until u guyz posted a comment bak 4 her. She gave up at 11:00. By the way, shes only 7. Lol. By the way that word is easy 4 sum1 like moi hu can speak welsh. Luv da vids! <3 Angie xx

  • @fish43537- STFU noob.

  • Hear hear!

  • when will they find a cure for wales

  • lol so many big words, I think my head is going to explode

  • ...So that's why my friend asked me to record myself saying Llainfair PG for her...

  • Ahhh that Welsh town.

  • H is for Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia

which, ironically, is the technical name for a fear of long words. the two posts i've made are the two longest words in the english language.

  • LEGENDARY sense of irony there from the creator of that word :D

  • lan-fair-pwilli-gwingyll-gogery-kwyn-drob-willllan-tee-silio-gogogoch

  • P is for Pneumonoultramiscroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

which is a hypothetical disease caused By inhaling mineral or metallic dust for extended periods of time.

  • This Welsh town actually exists and its name translates as "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave". aparently. i can say it though. spelling however.. im not sure :)

  • I CAN SAY IT!! LLANFAIRPWLLGYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWYLLLLANTYSILILIOGOGOCH! there i said it from memory. it's cos i'm welsh :D

  • I CAN SAY IT! LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERWCHWYRNDROBWYLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH!! there i said it from MEMORY!! it's because i'm welsh :D

  • Hahah :D i can also say that word, because im welsh. im not quite sure of the meaning though. its on a sign, and the sign is huge. :|

  • you should know the meaning!

break it down... good there you go... yes into welsh words... yes there you go you have the meaning!

  • i can say the long welsh word... probably cause i am welsh

  • your videos are too boring am sorry but they are

  • why do you watch them then?

  • a polaroid picture?! nice :) SAVE THE POLAROID! lol

  • How many letters were in that long word? And is it actually a word?

  • if its the one i think it is, it a place name thats famous in wales for jst being so bloody long, has about 40 characters or something ridiculous means something like the village over the river under the bridge in the glen, or something....

  • Thank you

  • that is shit

  • thanks for this :D

  • lol yeah. English must be confusing to learn for foreigners.

  • pathetic, you have to use a picture of xenon. You should have some handy :D

  • haha, such a simple concept but incredibly entertaining. The Chosh never ceases to amaze me

  • ahahha :]

  • i swear in the middle of that long word i read "robin williams"

  • haha i love it

  • i find your videos entertaining. i'm glad that i stumbled upon your site.

  • English can be annoying with the silent letters but you should see irish. It feels like you just throw random letters at the star of certain words. Although judging from this video Welsh looks harder. lol

  • I agree! There was some TV advert for Wales once where it had all these random road signs with jumbled up letters...Apparently it was welsh - it said at the end of the advert that they all had translations underneath for the less adventurous! I mean it's not our fault we all can't speak welsh!

French is much easier - I mean all I do in my french lessons is put a La or Jai in front of everything! :-D

  • chosh! lol

  • Good video guys. Good to see what you are doing.

  • awwz i read the description before watching the video, i knew what to expect too much haha

  • dang english language! Moose... Mooses'?

  • Or meece? Or meeces??

  • that was hilariosss :)

  • woops, spelt hilarious wrong. YOU'RE ALREADY GETTING TO ME!

  • ohh! it's good to know that even English speakers in the UK get angry at the language. it's just fantastic.

  • Hi, did you try to read the name of the welsh town Charly? At least Josh had a go at it.

  • That was actually really funny. I wasn't expecting you to go through the alphabet. =D

  • lol it took me a while to get it! i was like "whats so bad about writing??" lololol

  • Ha ha! That reminded me of a poem I had to read in elementary school... I can't remember the title, but one of the lines was something like, "I take it you already knew of hiccough, thorough, tough and through...", and it was all about the weirdness of english.

    Kelly ~/`~

  • I don't think "cyclist" is a good one for C here, since we say the letter C with a soft C like in cyclist. Something beginning with CH would've been better, like chocolate.

Also, I think K, G and M would've hit harder if they had come right after each other (knife, gnome, mnemomonic).

I like how the words got weirder and weirder tho.

  • Xylophone buggary?

  • good attempt at the welsh place :) i can only say the llantisiliogogogoch bit currently. I found 'eunuch' particularly funny :D teehee.

  • haha XD

When I saw knife, I thought the rest would be:

    G: Gun.

    D: Decapitate.

    S: Severed-head.

    Goodnight.

(Sorry if i creeped out any kids) XD haha

  • G is for Gun is actually a really good one. I mean, its pronounced dzjee in the letter, but in the word Gun?

And what's with G and J both starting with dzj in the alphabet? (i.e. Dzjee and Dzjay)

  • what does that welsh word mean?

lol charly looks pretty scary with that hedge trimmer! watch out josh!

  • haha, that was spot on. photograph was the word that caught me at the most when I was younger, the rest are pretty obscure but soo true.

  • That would be so confusing for a child, I used to get annoyed at the word Quay.

  • eunuch...scared me a little!

    great vid guys =] =]

  • I was expecting something much more politically incorrect and offensive. I am disappointed.

  • lol lets hope they didn't use any of those in an alphabet book.

And the nursert ryhnm three blind mice, made me cry.

  • Three blind mice. Three blind mice.

See how they run. See how they run.

They all ran after the farmer's wife

She cut off their tails with a carving knife.

Did you ever see such a sight in your life

    As three blind mice?

  • -_-

  • lol even though i am american, i did understand why these words shouldn't be in children's spelling books. Careful with that knife josh, you can really hurt some child's brain. hahaha

  • Clumsy Hairdessers Only Shave Heads?

I fear what competent hairdressers shave...

  • That's a girl's bike!

  • I enjoyed this here gnu video, but I think it kneads to be in alphabetical order to satiate my obsessive-compulsive side. (On a technicality and not to detract from the video, but not all of the examples are silent. "Thread" has the T pronounced, it just does not say its name, that is it is short not long and blends with the H.) I think I'll wrap this up, almost out of characters.

  • Eunuch. Loved it.

  • haha - eunuch.

    amaZING

  • the english language is constantly trying to trick us with its evil silent letters! never trust your words!

  • EUNUCH!

  • I wasn't expecting another vid so soon but something drew me to youtube in the middle of the night for some reason...

    Was worth it though =]

  • haha, you should make a book called reading english for beginers xD

  • look up the full chemical name for the protein 'Titin'.... it's something like 190,000 letters long, no kidding.

    ...really, look it up

    :)

  • The name of it is 189322 characters over the comment limit.

  • Don't you mean 189,319? It is 189,819 letters long, and the comment limit is 500 characters.

  • Well, thats not what it said when I copied and pasted in in.

  • I expect you copy/pasted an extra few characters with it then - maybe a full stop, a space and a newline?

    Either way, it doesn't fit...

  • probably...

  • i don't get it

if it was like P is for porn

    i would get it

but i don't get these examples

    =D but good job

  • you really dont get it? heres an example of one of them:

    P is for photograph

now how do you say photograph? fotograf, see it starts with a p but sounds like a f

another one, k for knife, but you say nife.

    get it now?

  • ohhhhh

    omg i feel dumb

    =D

  • why am i a dickhead? he didnt understand the joke so i explained it to him...

  • S is for SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPALADOCIOUS VIDEO!

  • I agree!

I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to confuse everyone by making words so strange.

    XD great video

  • "I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to confuse everyone by making words so strange"

They were a nutter, whoever they were!

  • yay! good video! I love the welsh word :D
