So, I'm An iOS Dev. and I have to say iMessages Don't seam all to great. To only be able to interact with other iOS devices is kinda Lame. All I can Say is that My iPod touch will continue to Rock it's Textfree with Voice app for Quite a while longer.

@jingletit The iPhone 3G only Supports 4.2.1, and No, It will not work. The same Way facetime will not work if you are updated and your Friends are not, It will not accept messages without the iMessages or Updated Messages App. iOS is Required for iMessages

How can iMessage replace SMS? It just works on iOS devices. People who want to message their parents or friends with Nokia or Samsung Cellphones still NEED SMS. Though, iOS users will prefer iMessage only. For iOS users - among each other - there is no use for SMS anymore.

I just got iOS5 last night & I don't get this iMessages thing, on my phone it looks like the regular sms its always had & I don't get how to talk to other devices or what the big deal is... I know I'm probably missing it completely, but do you need to d/l something on your computer or whatever to "continue the conversation" through your other devices??

@kiddfabul0u5 Blackberry actually doesnt still own. They got complacent and their Playbook sucks, their hardware (and software) is drastically becoming outdated, and you can see based on their stock price that analysts don't expect them to be very profitable.

@gavincorrea because everything theyve DONE so far is the ORIGINAL. Apple is IMMTATING blackberry. Sure, theyre hardware might be smoother and updated, but nothing on this "iOS5" upgrade is original. Blackberry is still on top.

The iOS upgrade may not be original but I would argue that Apple has done more to improve their product offering than RIM.

I'm not even going to comment on Google's Android because frankly a) I don't know enough about it and b) this is discussion about RIM vs. Apple so I don't want you to even bother bringing it up.

The reason RIM doesn't own is because their products have flopped miserably as of late. They haven't innovated anything in recent memory.. contd...

@kiddfabul0u5 Apple on the other hand has been enormously successful on both their iPhone4 and iPad...and have done this by basically perfecting their products and trying to meet the competition. I know I sound like an Apple fanboy, but thats not true at all (I prefer PC vs. Mac)...Apple has basically done a better job on tablets than anyone else before AND a better job on touchscreens than anyone else before. They don't create, they innovate.

@kiddfabul0u5 I have a Blackerry Bold 9700 running os7, it is the worst smart phone ever. the internet looks alot like the ones you would fing on a dumb phone, all the apps are very simalar to the ones on dumb phones. There very outdated, and slow. ditch your blackberry and get a real phone

If I upgrade it to iOS5 will I be able to get imessage or will it like say I don't have enough room for it. Because that happened when I used iOS4

BBM style messaging is great for iPhone but only problem is what is so special about it? Interface looks exactly like the regular sms app, and no mention of status updates or other details... WWDC had some rising moments but same UI, no "mark all as read" in mail, no tones changes to mail, no custom sms tones, no FB integration.... I love my idevices but I was slightly disappointed but but once the iPhone 5 comes out im sure more features will make me happy again.
