Okay. You are NOT going to burn in hell forever because you sinned. You don't even 'burn'. It's just a figure of speech. God accepts that we sinned and will always sin so he sent down Jesus to take care of business. Your freewill is to either believe that or not. Even sinners go to heaven. If they didn't, than heaven would be a really empty place and God would be really lonely waiting for even his most devout followers to arrive. So in the end, you do use freewill-to believe or not.
I don't really see the point here. The person in the video seems to be assuming that free will is only valuable so long as you have the possibility of doing wrong. But that's just plain false. It never occurs to most of us to do serious wrongs, but we still consider our free will to be valuable, despite the fact we never have the option (because it never occurs to us) of doing serious wrong.
god wanted to be love but genuine love, not made to love.he gave us a choice keep in mind we were MADE by him in the first place.so he said"let me give them the reason i made them and let them choose".we know the penalty is death, back to the dust which you came from.the reward is eternal life.remember he wants true love and when you walk thru those doors your mental state is much more stronger so you still could be bad like satan.so he doesn't want a repeat.so you could choose death but WHY?
@humanistheart well... duh.... if you think of God as your Father and yourself one of many brothers and sisters, than if your father watches you hurt your brother or sister, what will he do?
@xPray2die2dayx "That would be pointless, a test is to determine an outcome, if he's all knowing he already knows it. And to do good? For what purpose? None. "
That's what I said. In no way did your response address this.
@humanistheart good point. Calvin contradicted himself here too. At one point in his Institutes he claims God tested Adam, another place he goes on to claim that God planned both the fall of Lucifer and Adam in every detail.
"That would be pointless, a test is to determine an outcome, if he's all knowing he already knows it. "
Look Bible tells you to do and not to do certain things. It tells you to do good things and not to do bad things. Whats bad in that? But the fact that God himself knows that man cant follow it. God respects man's thoughts. But When he sin's his soul has to suffer for eternity. Why? Coz God is Holly and u cant get to heaven if u are not Holly. Now that's where Jesus come in and frees mankind. He makes u holly with his precious blood and he will take u to heaven ;) No worries.
Xtians say that "god" gave us both free will and morality.
Lets say I want to murder a bunch of people. If I have free will I can do it. But my morality tells me it is wrong. So my free will is constrained by my morality, and therefore is not free.
Maybe god gave you free will to see the error in your own ways and that his will is best for all and hell exists for those who know this and still choose their own will
guess what? You're not the Creator nor have the authority to judge whether God's Law is just or not. You are a finite human being in God's universe. God gave mankind freewill(the ability to choose) so that they might seek Him and love Him genuinely. That's not to say there aren't consequences for our actions or if we use it for wickedness. Do criminals not get punished? The fact that God gives us a choice means He is just and never forces us to come to Him. That's freewill.
(Proverbs 14.12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.) (Hebrews9.27 ..and just as it is appointed for [all] men once to die, and after that the [certain] judgment.)
God didn't "give" people free will, human beings have freewill by nature. what's more, exorcising free choice, "in and of its self", is not a punishable act in Christianity, its when the person does what he ought not, or fails to do what he ought that there is a problem.
@standinstann So what you're saying then is God is NOT sovereign? If man does have free will, it was given by God. Nobody has anything unless God gave it to them.
@ChuckK3 That's like saying that I have black hair because god gave me Black hair instead of blond or red: My hair color was the result of my genes; it had nothing to do with God. If god exists then it is the cause of "being" but that isn't remotely the same as saying that it's the cause of the fact that I like Ham.
Would you like someone coming to your house and have sex with your wife and boldly say oh i have a free will? If you dont like it then God exists for you even if you dont admit.
@xquse18 How did that make sense to you? If you don't like rape god exists? Why not if you don't like genocide hitlers still alive? It makes as much sense.
@xquse18 many married couples have open relationships. In other words, some men don't mind other men having sex with their wives, and their wives don't mind them having sex with another woman.
@ChuckK3 Why do they come into a relationship then? Why do they exchange wedding promises then? They lie to each other then on the wedding day that they will be loyal to each other. So are you comfortable with this kind of a relationship. It feels filthy having sex with every other man or woman you like rather it is a quality of an animal .
@xquse18 I don't know. Why don't you ask the married couples who have open relationships? As for myself, if she's comfortable with me, than I'm comforatble with her.
@ChuckK3 To be really true ,I have never met couples who have open relationships! It seems kind of imposible cuz no husband likes his wife to even admire another man or vise versa. I dont understand what you mean to say if she is comfortable with me than you are comfortable .just tell me would you like your wife having sex with other men?
@xquse18 You are very reluctant to answer my question ,which i will put up again that would you like your wife having sex with other men? WHEN YOU DECLARE SOMETHING WHY ARE YOU HESITATING TO ANSWER?
Let,s say if God says keep doing sins you have a free will ,what would the earth be like , it will be a ;living HELL. Dont you understand such a simple thing?
@xquse18 Oh yeah, letting women and homosexuals have legal rights, and not forcing women to carry children is just so hellish.
No, seriously see my video atheists Vs theists, nations with the highest levels of organic atheism report the lowest crime rates and the highest life satisfaction ratings.
@humanistheart I was telling this person who is asking the questions that how would he feel about finding his wife having sex with another person on the basis of free will? If he does,nt feel good about it then that,s what God means that you cannot have free will in anything that you like .YES THERE,S A CATCH! as he said in this video but God has set rules for the benifit of mankind , GOD HAS GIVEN EVERYONE A COMPLETELY FREE WILL SO AS TO TEST US AND SO THAT WE CAN DO AS MUCH GOOD AS WE CAN.
Sin is not anything contrary to the will of GOD. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. So we do have free will to do whatever we like, short of breaking GOD's law, which for the most part violates man's law in most countries. GOD gave man dominion over the earth and everything on/in it. Dominion to dominate, rule, do as you like, just obey the law of GOD. Its that simple.
@JimmyCarol100 So as long as you don't violate any of the 613 commandments then you're ok? Good luck with that. Especially since Yeshua also included "thought crimes," such as committing adultery without actually having sex with a married woman. Thanks, but no thanks, I'll keep my secular morality.
What on earth is meant by "not allowed to use it"? We're clearly free to curse God with the breath he gave us, or to reject him for eternity. The ability to totally reject the perfect all-loving being is a pretty profound degree of free will. To directly address this silly question, Christianity states that the purpose of free will is to allow us to freely enter a saving love relationship with God.
@keepdancingmaria its not his, its not mine, he is a being himself, oh and just saying no relevance at all, that God you are talking about is followed by many people, maybe even more than the population of earth today. And yes you will die if you dont believe in him or put your faith in him, it is a punishment. Just saying...
@sanxcoltd I don't know what you mean by "its not his,its not mine...etc" I was questioning 1GodOnlyOne's definition of free will. Obviously if I have to force myself, it is not love, and it is not of my own volition. You did not say anything to that point, so I don't know what you are talking about.
Since you brought up a separate point, there are other gods who have a larger following than yahweh. Should we abandon our own brains to follow them?
@keepdancingmaria you said " your God", didn't you, i said God is not his nor mine, When you said "your" it sounded like your saying God is his but he is to everyone and wat is yahweh and the "other" gods are idols, most of them have statues that we can see their faces, if those gods are real, aren't they a little lower level because we humans can see their faces?
@sanxcoltd My mistake, Since yahweh, the god of the bible, is not your god, I truly do not know what you are on about. Nor do I care. Nothing you say has any bearing on the free will definition, so I will exercise my free will as I see fit. Good luck to you, hope you get sorted out.
@1GodOnlyOne Oh really, this may seem completely irrelevant (I assure you its not). What do you say to this question: Can God create a stone so heavy that he cannot lift it?
@FryderykFChopin well why would he, it wont make any more people follow him, but the answer is no, he is the MOST powerful being he can even make the world...
@FryderykFChopin what i mean is what you are saying is impossible, he made the world and he can't move a unmovable stone, face it, every stone moves somehow, but why would he make it its just like stabing a knife to yourself, its really stupid to think of a question like this, conversation like these are like roots of a bean, there is one answer (one main) and there are lots of dead ends to it that doesn't make sense, the question you asked is one of them,
@sanxcoltd The point of this argument really is not to disprove the existence of God but to ask whether God is bound by the laws of logic. Is God bound by the laws of logic?
@sanxcoltd You have not answered my question. Is God bound by the laws of logic? 'he is already real no point proving'. Well there we have it. Thats just blind faith - belief with lack of and against the evidence. If you don't value evidence, what evidence can I provide to show that you should value it. If you don't value logic, what logical argument can I make to show the importance of logic.
@FryderykFChopin anything is possible with god, logic and physics etc are only based on mankind, God is a different to humans because he is the mos powerful being, life is always blind, you dont know what happens next, if you say that then there is no point living why dont you jump of a tower if you say that...you don't know whats gonna happen tomorrow, you might die, car crash, etc, so do you think you were borned from your mother for a point or are you just a "no point living" man
@sanxcoltd My attitude? I simply posed the question of whether you value evidence or not and by your answer, it seems like you don't give the damn. 'no point proving because he is real'. Well then, you obviously have no problem with those who assert that Elvis is still alive or people who believe in fairies because to say otherwise is like 'proving obama is not real'. I give you the same question you gave me. Why don't you jump off a tower? You believe eternal bliss is coming your way anyway.
@FryderykFChopin and yes no point proving because he is real, its just like proving obama is not real, really stupid to prove somthing like that so stop using big words when you don't even understand me
@sanxcoltd Once you assume a creator and a plan, it makes us objects, in a cruel experiment, whereby we are created sick and ordered to be well. And over us, to supervise this, is installed a divine North Korea - greedy for uncritical praise from dawn until dusk and swift to punish the original sins with which it so tenderly gifted us in the very first place. However, let no one say there's no cure: salvation indeed, is offered at the low price of the surrender of your critical faculties.
@FryderykFChopin you know not all north korea was bad except the government and some soldiers, most citizens in north korea hate north korea itself therefore your point is not very well structured, and we are sick but not ordered, we are givin a chance to be wise and get well, and the savior is not offered in a low price the part i dont get is where you said "offered at the low price of the surrender of your critical faculties, whats my critical faculty i dont get it??
@FryderykFChopin Hitchens' "created sick and ordered to be well" line has nothing to do with Christianity. God made us good, in His image. We choose to make ourselves sick with sin. He provides the cure, and all we have to do is accept it. Jesus has already paid for your sins and mine! All you have to do is accept His payment on your behalf!
@FryderykFChopin Not that your response has anything to do with my comment, but I'll take it anyways. This Hitchens line doesn't have anything to do with Christianity either. First, it's just silly to regard free will as being foisted on you, it's a wonderful gift from our all-loving spiritual father. Secondly, from beginning to end, the Bible does talk about how you can become enslaved by sin and slowly lose your free will, if you truly want to reject God's gift.
@JWHurwitz 'It's just silly to regard free will as being foisted on you'. Tell me, how is that 'silly' instead simply dismissing it with an assertion.
@FryderykFChopin You start with nothing, literally not existing. God gives you existence, life, free-will, and so on. You are actually free to reject any of these gifts, and so claiming that your free-will is forced on you is not only an astonishing effrontery to God, but a totally baseless claim as well.
@JWHurwitz I wouldn't call, do what I say or suffer free will.
At any rate, no, if a creator being is all knowing and all powerful you can't have free will. Imagine a computer program, the creator already knows how it will run, start to finish. Would you say the characters inside the program have free will? No.
Too easy. God gives us free will to do whatever we want in this life. You can ride a bike, go to school, get a job, etc, etc. But yes for eternal life you must accept what Jesus did on the cross a sufficient to cover your sin. You just make that decission and then you can go on with your free will riding bikes, going to school and getting jobs, etc, etc. God gave us a choice in Jesus, but our free will is our ability to do things freely every day. The one does not impede the other.
The point of free will is that you have a choice.. duhh to say that if you do not use it you will be like a robot anyways is not true. god wants you to want to be with him because you want to not because he forces you to. The bible says the wages of sin is death and thats just the price we pay. If we chose to be evil that was our choice and god cannot have evil beings destroying the holy ones.
@madba11er1on1 "god wants you to want to be with him because you want to not because he forces you to. "
And if you do a single thing he doesn't like you're tortured for all eternity. That's hardly mature.
"If we chose to be evil " The problem there is who decides what's evil? In your religion, your god. Anything he doesn't like is 'evil'. That's not a good bases for morality.
@humanistheart onec again you do not burn for ever that is not true at all. You are distroyed in the lake of fire. And you just said that the god who created the entire universe cannot decide what is right and what is wrong? Lol who decides what is right and what is wrong in todays society? Are all laws not moral than?
@madba11er1on1 "And you just said that the god who created the entire universe cannot decide what is right and what is wrong? "
What does creating have anything to do with morality? Creation is a power, power is like might, all you're saying is might makes right. That never goes well when implemented.
@humanistheart First of who said creation is power. Than seems like a faulty analogy. I am sayin because it is his. He created it all and it belongs to him. And you are sayin that he cant decide what is wrong or right even though it all belongs to him. Now the problem with that is that society who did not create this earth decides what is wrong and what is right all the time. SO are you tellin me that every law we have is immoral?
"He created it all and it belongs to him." Than you are relegating human beings to property, objects to be owned and done with as one being pleases. Put that in any context outside of your religion and I have little doubt you'd see how abhorrent that is, like black slavery, child abuse, or the time when women were property, but apply that to a god and you think it's okay for some reason. Why?
@humanistheart Lol Black slavery? child abuse? lol Children belong to their parents right? So is that like black slavery? ha lol nice try but a lil extreme dont you think?
@madba11er1on1 In some countries children do belong to their parents, and in this country it can seem that way. But if children are being abused they are taken away from the parents. If they were truly property, that couldn't happen.
And no, you said god owned humans, that's slavery. That is not an extreme example, its an apt one.
@humanistheart lol no it is not slavery isnt just owning. If you created something that means you inslaved it? Lol not at all. And saying if children were abused is irevlent. But following your statement the children are actually theirs until they violate the children then they are takin away correct? So the children are theirs until they are violated but like i said that is irelevent and is based on a change in society. didnt always be that way.
@madba11er1on1 "And you are sayin that he cant decide what is wrong or right even though it all belongs to him."
Those are you're exact words. You feel we belong to him, in that use of the term, it's ownership. That is slavery.
"And saying if children were abused is irevlent. " No, you're just dodging the point, you don't support child abuse in general but you do support it in relation to your god.
@humanistheart Just because you own something doesnt make it your slave first of all. When you were first born and your parents created you, you belonged to them. were you a slave? secondly child abuse is completely irrelevent because what in the heck does that have to do with god and people? your anolgies are terrible
@madba11er1on1 Something, no. Someone, yes, yes it does. "you belonged to them" Look it up, children are not property, they are not owned. If they were, the government couldn't take them away when need be.
"child abuse is completely irrelevent because what in the heck does that have to do with god and people? "
There are several instances of mass infanticide committed by said 'god', as well as numerous examples of times when children should be killed. Slaughtering kids is child abuse buddy.
@madba11er1on1 2) "Now the problem with that is that society who did not create this earth decides what is wrong and what is right all the time. SO are you tellin me that every law we have is immoral?"
You're doing some mental gymnastics there. You've skipped from me pointing out that there is nothing in creating something that has anything to do with morality, to somehow claiming I'm saying that all laws are immoral? Where did you go wrong there?
@humanistheart And im not doin any mental gymnastics. You stated that God saying what is right and what is wrong is not a good basis of morality. So i responded that society does the same thing all the time. And thats ok?
@madba11er1on1 "So i responded that society does the same thing all the time. And thats ok?"
That's not what you said, but it is preferable. Society gets it wrong a lot, and much of that is because of stupid religions that people are trying to force on others.
What you are describing is a tyrant. God is more powerful so he can do whatever he wants. Are you denying this?
@humanistheart A tyrant? That is not so. He does not inforce his will upon others thats why its called free-will... A tyrant does not give you that luxury. And yea he could do whatever he wanted and if he did that yes he would be considered a tyrant just pushing us around. But he does not do that. I dont see God comin down here and inslavin the world and forcin people to do stuff like robots.
@madba11er1on1 "Tyrant: 1. An absolute ruler who governs without restrictions.
2. A ruler who exercises power in a harsh, cruel manner.
3. An oppressive, harsh, arbitrary person."
The abrahamic god fits every description to a tee.
"He does not inforce his will upon others thats why its called free-will.."
Slaughtering people is forcing his will on others. Read your bible, look up all the genocides and infanticides, the slavery, child abuse, spousal abuse, rape and so on.
the thing of it is, you have freewill to be tested. for instance if someone said if you murder someone you will not go to prison. will you murder someone becaus eof that? or not do it anyway?
Humans do not have free will according to the Bible. A person is either a slave to sin or a slave to God; nothing more or nothing less. Read the Bible and you will discover that for yourself.
By your definition of what you think that God said, all mankind, Christians and otherwise will burn in hell. After all, we all sin. It is our imperfection that keeps us sinning. God said that even though you are imperfect, if you believe in my son Jesus Christ and obey his commands- "love God and one another"- I will over look your sin and see you as righteous and give you life everlasting. What is your problem with that?
Parents set rules for their children not because they want their children to break them, but rather they set them out of love to protect them.
Scientific laws are eternal in nature; if you touch a hot stove with your bare hand, you will get burned. God, being a loving parent does not force us to keep away from the “hot stove” but rather asks us to stay away so we aren’t “burned”.
You can use free will to good effect too, you know. But regardless, whether you do good or not, you will go to hell if you do not believe in Jesus Christ. God gave Adam and Eve freewill so that they would serve him not out of obligation, but out of love. They loved Him, but they disobeyed Him. It was too much for them.
It is not 'we' will do it, unless you mean the three persons of God. Yes, it is better to die at the hand of God than for a tribe to go unpunished for continually killing others. Especially when at stake is salvation from hell through the person of Jesus born of the tribe which is going to be exterminated if God does not intervene. God knows more than you or I.
Sorry. I misspelled some words do to typing too fast however you get the jist of what Im saying. Free choice and freewill are always confused but this is not unusual because you rercognize this even in your own life. For example, when you were being raised by your parents, they gave you instructions if you wanted to attain a certain goal, whether it was correct advise or not is irrelevant to our conversation. At a certain point, you had the freewill to make the choice on your own. right or wrong
Hello. I ran across your site on accident and as such< i find your questions very elementary with just a cursory study of scripture as well as observation of life as its own testimony. forst you must understand that most people who call themselves chritians are really "believers" and cant answer your questions because they dont know the bible and are none of Christs anyway. Heres the answer to freewill. God doesnt give us free choice, He gives us freewill to make the only correct choice.
Here's the thing, I CAN use the money if I want to. You aren't gonna pop up as soon as I use it and kill me then and there. I will be able to have my fun with it before I see you the next time. Same as if I had my fun with my free will before I die. We all slip up, and God forgives us when we ask for it, that's where the two situations differ, as I assume you wouldn't be so forgiving XD It's a matter of when we decide to have fun:Temporarily on earth, or forever in heaven.
Me and my friends were having this conversation not too long ago, and this is what one of my friends said. Think about it this way, you have a friend who you know is going through a hard time, and you invite him over to talk. You know for a fact they won't talk, but you invite them anyway giving them the option of talking. God is the same way, he knows for a fact what descision we are going to make, but he gives us the choices anyway
i think that god gave us free will to have a good life not to use to fuck our life, we use it any way we want anyways , you know god gave us free will and people are using it anyway they want anyway, we do as we like, so even if you ask this question, i believe that god didnt gave us free will to we can get so drunk drive home and kill some one but people still do it, people have the free will to rape somebody,or rob, or cheat, because god didnt give free will to do that so is that the free will
The way the question is posed, it is implied the doing what is right does not using free will, and the only way to exercise free will is to sin. This is not true. A person who follows God's will exactly would be the most free person. When people sin, they are trapped in their evil. Sins of all kinds are addictive. True freedom (which feels awesome beyond words) comes from doing what is right given the opportunity to do what is wrong.
@NionKirby For release from sin, say these things with a soft and honest heart, and say them out loud: "Dear Lord, I am bitter towards you about *insert reason for your sin*. I claim the blood of Jesus Christ. Please take back the ground of *Insert the particular sin* I have given to Satan."
Example: "Dear Lord, I am bitter towards you about the brother you gave me. I claim the blood of Jesus Christ. Please take back the ground of hateful anger have given to Satan." Make sure to say it out loud.
Despite what many religious people believe, it's quite clear that we have little, or probably no freedom to make choices. Just look at studies like the one that found that people born into families that have criminals, but adopted immediately after birth, are still more likely to commit crimes than adopted people who were born into families without criminals. There are genes for criminality just like there are genes for height. This is one of many studies that argue against free will.
It is not a violation of free will to have a choice, as far as God saying he will kill you if you use your free will to go against what he instructs you to do, you are using a wrong analogy. There are certain laws of the spirit just as there are laws of physics. God is telling us that violating those laws will result in eternal seperation from Him. Your analogy is like saying that a car maker is violating free will by encouraging upkeep on your car, if you dont it breaks, not his fault.
God only wants people to go heaven that wants to go..Hence "free will". Hell was created for satan and his angels Matthew 25:41 so its youre free will to chose if you want to accept God as youre saviour! It's my free will to follow God so im not sure why you suggest that i cant follow my free will? See what im getting at? Although many think only sin is free will true Christians are following God out of free will..as you eat Burger king out of free will...youre choise.
The point of free will. Thanks so much. That has given me the best argument ever for free will (some Christians say we don't have free will). The point of it is to sort the sheep from the goats.
@landsell The point of it is to seperate the sheep from the goats? But if he's all knowing and he created people he'd already know who was what anyway, so the point is rather pointless I would say.
@humanistheart God is just and will do what appears to be just. He is not some arbitrary dictator and does not wish to appear as such. However, to those who are spiritually blind, God will always appear unjust.
@landsell "God is just and will do what appears to be just." Well that's clearly not true. If he was going to do what appeared to be just, that would mean that the biblical infanticides were 'just' to you. Please explain how slaughtering infants and the unborn is 'just' to you.
@humanistheart It is indeed ironic to hear this from people who think nothing of abortion. God assuredly killed those people because they were sacrificing their children to idols, and/or planning to kill the Israelites.
@landsell Such like being that certain tribes would attack innocent nations outside Israel, without God's permission, when they were not harming the Israelites, or planning to.
@landsell So you're claim is if those people were sacrificing some kids then the answer to that was to kill ALL the kids? Along with their parents, grandparents, friends neighbors, in short a genocide against their entire people's. You killed someone so we'll kill 10 times more is just to you is it? That's just scary.
WRONG SIR!!! again. Freewill was given to us for two reasons. 1) so we can enjoy life. 2) So God knows we really love him. So we can spend the money, just not on the things God's told us not to. But if we do spend the money on something we're not supposed to God forgives us if we are saved in Him. So your analogy is flawed therefore your argument is invalid.
my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.
Directly from the bible, so again I ask you are those my words or Gods?
God is the one who has threatened the children of all who disobey him, it's actually a warning, that they will be cut off.
The words you are WTF'ing come directly from the book of Deuteronomy.
I Did Not Write it, I Posted what it says, since it appears that many people don't know what the bible says.
Soon there will be a great tribulation period on earth, and yes people will die, and most of them won't know why, because they refuse to believe the bible.
Not believing the creator God exsists, but rather believing that the Universe, and everything in it just evolved, is just as unintelligent, as a person not believing the creator of F-15 Eagle Military Aircraft exists, and that they just evolve from somwhere within McDonald Douglas without a creator.
Who knows, maybe you have actually met the inventor, and creator of these fine aircrat, but I doubt it, your too smart to get anywhere near the nessesarry clearance.
But who made us and the money? We are not capable of free will without restrictions. Like breathing, without the ANS controlling our respiratory rate we wouldn't be free for higher brain function--for choices. We'd be thinking about breathing all the time! We are giving ourselves and our free will too much credit. We are humbled by our own bodies. We were created to be subservient to something--which then gives us a choice.
You are wrongfully assuming that God will micromanage your life. There are plenty of different things that God will allow but you don't have to do ... or that you can do, if you so choose.
I dont think ANYONE can act EXACTLY like how God wants them to no matter how hard they try. This is why he gave us Jesus. God knows all the temptations we face everyday, the free will is there, and God wants us to use it for His will which is ultimately for our good. When we fall out of it, we may ask for forgiveness. "Grace never says, "Do whatever you want and God will forgive." No, grace says, "Obey God and when you fail, he will forgive." (Romans 6:1)"... Hope this helps a bit :)
Freewill is so simple! You have the choice weather or not you go to hell when you die the choice is yours! You have the choice to live your life anyway you wnt to live. You do not go to hell because of what you do it is what you belive!!
God has rules as well and if you break them that is a direct rebellion against him and there is great consequences in doing this against an all powerful eternal God! But at any time it is always our free choice christian or non-christian. Do as you wish. Christian have more freewill we will never pay for our sins because they have already been payed for!!!
@LIGHTRONIX Gods law was never mean't to be kept. They are only to show that we are sinful. we will never be able to keep his laws, weather or not we choose to live a detrimental life or not it is up to us. We do not have thechoice weather or not we die. But bwe can choose weather r not we want to live in Gods house. To get there Christ has made the doorway. By making this doorway we can choose eather or not to accept it.
@MissChaceurz Doxastic Volunteerism is completely false (the idea that you can choose what you can believe). If I point a gun at someone and say, "give me a hug or I'll shoot you" does that person have a choice? technically. but do they REALLY have a choice? Or, could you just will yourself to believe that the earth is made of snow? Our beliefs come from what appears to be the more likely possibility, a muslim from the middle east has no predisposition to believe in jesus at all.
Ulitimatly you are damed for the rejection of what Christ did for you. weather or not you are evil or not. Hitler could of accepted Christ just before he died and upon his death he would of went straight to heavan!! Let me define sin for you. If you made rules in your house and your kids did not listen that would be a direct rebellion against you. That is the same as God...
@LIGHTRONIX God has rules just like a father in a home. If my rules are not kept in my home there must be consequences. Gods consequences are far more severe. However to avoid these consequences he provided a very simple solution. What is so ridiculous about that?
@LIGHTRONIX You have the choice weather or not you go to heavan or hell when you die it is your choice. Its just like you have the choice weather or not to go to jail! You can choose to go to heavan simply by accepting
Jesus. Why is it rocket science?? Why is it so hard to understand that you hav the choice weather or not you go to hell or not?? Its up to you! Jesus has made that choice availible to everyone who wants to go to heavan.
@MissChaceurz It's not simply a choice like you think it is. You cant just choose to believe something. Try choosing to believe that elephants rule the world. Or try choosing to believe Allah is god. You cant, because your life experience affirms the opposite.
Jail is a punishment for corrective purposes, it is a time out for grown ups. If you send someone to be tortured forever with no hope of ever coming out that is accomplishing nothing! It's sick and twisted to think anyone deserves that.
@LIGHTRONIX Dont take it so harsh dude. Personally i dont believe its as simple as believe or not, as though its a life or death situation. Remember God says he will judge each and every single one of us individually.
Your getting the wrong Idea, God is more humble then Ghandi, or moses or jesus. He looks on all his creations with pride. He marvels in joy when you communicate with him despite the fact ur trapped in flesh and with that cunt satan around pulling ur strings ;-)
@LIGHTRONIX I had a question to ask three years ago. Does God exsist. So i asked no one else but God. God answered. He did not answer quiestly i had an experience beyond cmprehension! This is the reason why christians believe. However i still had the choice weather or not to believe. It was more logical for me to believe then to not! I continued to search and it has been amazing. Yeah i thought i was nuts but i'm not......
@LIGHTRONIX Now if a person wnts nothing to do with God that's fine. But all the things we enjoy water air tht is all Gods goodness all that he provides for us. You want nothing to do with God, God takes all his goodness away. You end up with hell. Sorry i fall short in trying to explain it but yeah thats just that. I guess its like if you wnt nothing to do with society you end up with jail??
Jesus did not ask you to die for your sin. It is your choice weather or not to accept it. It is your freewill to do so or not. When you become a christian the holy spirit changes the way you live your life. It does not mean that you have to listen to him but after awhile you will find that he knows best and you wish that you listened to him.
Do we really have free will if god already knows what will happen anyway? He is all knowing so whuts the point of creating someone who is going to be atheist...he alredy knew that the bible sed he knows us better than we do so is it really free will? He alredy knew i wud write this he knew that a new born baby will die from a disorder and never even hear the word god
Im sorry to all who honestly cant accept these or are feeble minded enough not to understand this: Free will can not be given nor taken. It is a realization that Free will either IS or IS NOT. If the Christian God gave man free will to choose to do "right" or "wrong", then sends us to be tortured for choosing wrong, why would the All Loving All Powerful God have done that in the first place?
Theology (God's Logic) - Theo (God) - Logy (Logic)
Free will is a sin against the Church NOT GOD. God gave us free will to be used & brains to be thought with. We were given rules & guidelines to follow but we are failable. God knows that. You can do anything your little heart desires but there will be consequences. That is not paying the debt as in your previous question. Charles Manson has consequences to face!
The point of life w/faith is to try to be the best YOU you can be, following the rules & being yourself. No one said it was easy.

By free will means we have a choice to do bad or good. If we only do bad we are just wasting every one else's free will

Maybe god gave you free will to see the error in your own ways and that his will is best for all and hell exists for those who know this and still choose their own will
redrumhum 1 month ago

@ChuckK3 Why do they come into a relationship then? Why do they exchange wedding promises then? They lie to each other then on the wedding day that they will be loyal to each other. @humanistheart I was telling this person who is asking the questions that how would he feel about finding his wife having sex with another person on the basis of free will? @xquse18 "If he does,nt feel good about it then that,s what God means that you cannot have free will in anything that you like"
But he wouldn't like it, so that's not applicable to your own point, whatever that may be.
"GOD HAS GIVEN EVERYONE A COMPLETELY FREE WILL SO AS TO TEST US AND SO THAT WE CAN DO AS MUCH GOOD AS WE CAN."
That would be pointless, a test is to determine an outcome, if he's all knowing he already knows it. And to do good? For what purpose? None.
humanistheart 3 months ago
Sin is not anything contrary to the will of GOD. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. So we do have free will to do whatever we like, short of breaking GOD's law, which for the most part violates man's law in most countries. GOD gave man dominion over the earth and everything on/in it. Dominion to dominate, rule, do as you like, just obey the law of GOD. Its that simple.
JimmyCarol100 4 months ago
@JimmyCarol100 So as long as you don't violate any of the 613 commandments then you're ok? Good luck with that. Especially since Yeshua also included "thought crimes," such as committing adultery without actually having sex with a married woman. Thanks, but no thanks, I'll keep my secular morality.
Razaiel 3 months ago
What on earth is meant by "not allowed to use it"? We're clearly free to curse God with the breath he gave us, or to reject him for eternity. The ability to totally reject the perfect all-loving being is a pretty profound degree of free will. To directly address this silly question, Christianity states that the purpose of free will is to allow us to freely enter a saving love relationship with God.
JWHurwitz 4 months ago
You have taken a position that contradicts itself:
You state that we have free will, and you also state that we can't use it (which means that we don't have free will.
You made up the latter statement -- God never made such a statement.
In fact, we can use our free will.

The ultimate "point" of free will is to allow us to freely experience a mutually loving relationship with God.
Love cannot be forced, so without free will, we would never be able to have the experience of loving God of our own volition.
Thanks for asking!

sanxcoltd 4 months ago
@sanxcoltd I don't know what you mean by "its not his,its not mine...etc" I was questioning 1GodOnlyOne's definition of free will. Obviously if I have to force myself, it is not love, and it is not of my own volition. You did not say anything to that point, so I don't know what you are talking about.
Since you brought up a separate point, there are other gods who have a larger following than yahweh. Should we abandon our own brains to follow them?
keepdancingmaria 4 months ago
@keepdancingmaria you said " your God", didn't you, i said God is not his nor mine, When you said "your" it sounded like your saying God is his but he is to everyone and wat is yahweh and the "other" gods are idols, most of them have statues that we can see their faces, if those gods are real, aren't they a little lower level because we humans can see their faces?

@1GodOnlyOne Oh really, this may seem completely irrelevant (I assure you its not). What do you say to this question: Can God create a stone so heavy that he cannot lift it?
FryderykFChopin 4 months ago
@FryderykFChopin well why would he, it wont make any more people follow him, but the answer is no, he is the MOST powerful being he can even make the world...
sanxcoltd 4 months ago
@sanxcoltd Well then hes not all powerful because he can't do something. Argument goes as follows:
God is all powerful and creates an unmovable stone
If he can move it, he is not all powerful because he can't create an unmovable stone
If he can't move it, he is not all powerful because he can't move something
Therefore no omnipotent being exists.
FryderykFChopin 4 months ago
@FryderykFChopin what i mean is what you are saying is impossible, he made the world and he can't move a unmovable stone, face it, every stone moves somehow, but why would he make it its just like stabing a knife to yourself, its really stupid to think of a question like this, conversation like these are like roots of a bean, there is one answer (one main) and there are lots of dead ends to it that doesn't make sense, the question you asked is one of them,
sanxcoltd 4 months ago
@sanxcoltd The point of this argument really is not to disprove the existence of God but to ask whether God is bound by the laws of logic. Is God bound by the laws of logic?

If you don't value logic, what logical argument can I make to show the importance of logic.
FryderykFChopin 4 months ago
@FryderykFChopin anything is possible with god, logic and physics etc are only based on mankind, God is a different to humans because he is the mos powerful being, life is always blind, you dont know what happens next, if you say that then there is no point living why dont you jump of a tower if you say that...you don't know whats gonna happen tomorrow, you might die, car crash, etc, so do you think you were borned from your mother for a point or are you just a "no point living" man

FryderykFChopin 4 months ago
@FryderykFChopin you know not all north korea was bad except the government and some soldiers, most citizens in north korea hate north korea itself therefore your point is not very well structured, and we are sick but not ordered, we are givin a chance to be wise and get well, and the savior is not offered in a low price the part i dont get is where you said "offered at the low price of the surrender of your critical faculties, whats my critical faculty i dont get it??

sanxcoltd 4 months ago
@FryderykFChopin Hitchens' "created sick and ordered to be well" line has nothing to do with Christianity. God made us good, in His image. We choose to make ourselves sick with sin. He provides the cure, and all we have to do is accept it. Jesus has already paid for your sins and mine! All you have to do is accept His payment on your behalf!
JWHurwitz 4 months ago

FryderykFChopin 4 months ago
@FryderykFChopin Not that your response has anything to do with my comment, but I'll take it anyways. This Hitchens line doesn't have anything to do with Christianity either. First, it's just silly to regard free will as being foisted on you, it's a wonderful gift from our all-loving spiritual father. Secondly, from beginning to end, the Bible does talk about how you can become enslaved by sin and slowly lose your free will, if you truly want to reject God's gift.
JWHurwitz 4 months ago
@JWHurwitz 'It's just silly to regard free will as being foisted on you'. Tell me, how is that 'silly' instead simply dismissing it with an assertion.
FryderykFChopin 4 months ago
@FryderykFChopin You start with nothing, literally not existing. God gives you existence, life, free-will, and so on. You are actually free to reject any of these gifts, and so claiming that your free-will is forced on you is not only an astonishing effrontery to God, but a totally baseless claim as well.
JWHurwitz 4 months ago
@JWHurwitz 'God GIVES you free will'. Explain to me, how are you to reject that offer?

The one does not impede the other.
elinikk 4 months ago
The point of free will is that you have a choice.. duhh to say that if you do not use it you will be like a robot anyways is not true. god wants you to want to be with him because you want to not because he forces you to. The bible says the wages of sin is death and thats just the price we pay. If we chose to be evil that was our choice and god cannot have evil beings destroying the holy ones.
madba11er1on1 5 months ago
@madba11er1on1 "god wants you to want to be with him because you want to not because he forces you to. "
And if you do a single thing he doesn't like you're tortured for all eternity. That's hardly mature.
"If we chose to be evil " The problem there is who decides what's evil? In your religion, your god. Anything he doesn't like is 'evil'. That's not a good bases for morality.
humanistheart 4 months ago
@humanistheart onec again you do not burn for ever that is not true at all. You are distroyed in the lake of fire. And you just said that the god who created the entire universe cannot decide what is right and what is wrong? Lol who decides what is right and what is wrong in todays society? Are all laws not moral than?
madba11er1on1 4 months ago
@madba11er1on1 "And you just said that the god who created the entire universe cannot decide what is right and what is wrong? "
What does creating have anything to do with morality? Creation is a power, power is like might, all you're saying is might makes right. That never goes well when implemented.
humanistheart 4 months ago
@humanistheart First of who said creation is power. Than seems like a faulty analogy. I am sayin because it is his. He created it all and it belongs to him. And you are sayin that he cant decide what is wrong or right even though it all belongs to him. Now the problem with that is that society who did not create this earth decides what is wrong and what is right all the time. SO are you tellin me that every law we have is immoral?
madba11er1on1 4 months ago
@madba11er1on1 It is by definition. A power or ability.
Why?
humanistheart 4 months ago
@humanistheart Lol Black slavery? child abuse? lol Children belong to their parents right? So is that like black slavery? ha lol nice try but a lil extreme dont you think?
madba11er1on1 4 months ago
@madba11er1on1 In some countries children do belong to their parents, and in this country it can seem that way. But if children are being abused they are taken away from the parents. If they were truly property, that couldn't happen.
And no, you said god owned humans, that's slavery. That is not an extreme example, its an apt one.
humanistheart 4 months ago
@humanistheart lol no it is not slavery isnt just owning. If you created something that means you inslaved it? Lol not at all. And saying if children were abused is irevlent. But following your statement the children are actually theirs until they violate the children then they are takin away correct? So the children are theirs until they are violated but like i said that is irelevent and is based on a change in society. didnt always be that way.
madba11er1on1 4 months ago
@madba11er1on1 "And you are sayin that he cant decide what is wrong or right even though it all belongs to him."
Those are you're exact words. You feel we belong to him, in that use of the term, it's ownership. That is slavery.
"And saying if children were abused is irevlent. " No, you're just dodging the point, you don't support child abuse in general but you do support it in relation to your god.
humanistheart 4 months ago
@humanistheart Just because you own something doesnt make it your slave first of all. When you were first born and your parents created you, you belonged to them. were you a slave? secondly child abuse is completely irrelevent because what in the heck does that have to do with god and people? your anolgies are terrible
madba11er1on1 4 months ago

Where did you go wrong there?
humanistheart 4 months ago
@humanistheart And im not doin any mental gymnastics. You stated that God saying what is right and what is wrong is not a good basis of morality. So i responded that society does the same thing all the time. And thats ok?
madba11er1on1 4 months ago
@madba11er1on1 "So i responded that society does the same thing all the time. And thats ok?"
That's not what you said, but it is preferable. Society gets it wrong a lot, and much of that is because of stupid religions that people are trying to force on others.
What you are describing is a tyrant. God is more powerful so he can do whatever he wants. Are you denying this?
humanistheart 4 months ago
@humanistheart A tyrant? That is not so. He does not inforce his will upon others thats why its called free-will... A tyrant does not give you that luxury. And yea he could do whatever he wanted and if he did that yes he would be considered a tyrant just pushing us around. But he does not do that. I dont see God comin down here and inslavin the world and forcin people to do stuff like robots.
madba11er1on1 4 months ago
@madba11er1on1 "Tyrant: 1. An absolute ruler who governs without restrictions.
2. A ruler who exercises power in a harsh, cruel manner.
3. An oppressive, harsh, arbitrary person."
The abrahamic god fits every description to a tee.
"He does not inforce his will upon others thats why its called free-will.."
Slaughtering people is forcing his will on others. Read your bible, look up all the genocides and infanticides, the slavery, child abuse, spousal abuse, rape and so on.

resurrectionway 5 months ago
the thing of it is, you have freewill to be tested. for instance if someone said if you murder someone you will not go to prison. will you murder someone becaus eof that? or not do it anyway?
Falcondick69 5 months ago
Humans do not have free will according to the Bible. A person is either a slave to sin or a slave to God; nothing more or nothing less. Read the Bible and you will discover that for yourself.
RussianGirl19951 5 months ago
By your definition of what you think that God said, all mankind, Christians and otherwise will burn in hell. After all, we all sin. It is our imperfection that keeps us sinning. God said that even though you are imperfect, if you believe in my son Jesus Christ and obey his commands- "love God and one another"- I will over look your sin and see you as righteous and give you life everlasting. What is your problem with that?
MrItchyElbow 5 months ago

God knows more than you or I.
landsell 5 months ago
well you're allowed to use it, you're just only allowed to use it the way he wants you to, or else you'll burn.

At a certain point, you had the freewill to make the choice on your own. right or wrong
autofill67 6 months ago
God doesnt give us free choice, He gives us freewill to make the only correct choice.
autofill67 6 months ago
Here's the thing, I CAN use the money if I want to. You aren't gonna pop up as soon as I use it and kill me then and there. I will be able to have my fun with it before I see you the next time. Same as if I had my fun with my free will before I die. We all slip up, and God forgives us when we ask for it, that's where the two situations differ, as I assume you wouldn't be so forgiving XD It's a matter of when we decide to have fun:Temporarily on earth, or forever in heaven.
emilovesyouxp 6 months ago
Me and my friends were having this conversation not too long ago, and this is what one of my friends said. Think about it this way, you have a friend who you know is going through a hard time, and you invite him over to talk. You know for a fact they won't talk, but you invite them anyway giving them the option of talking. God is the same way, he knows for a fact what descision we are going to make, but he gives us the choices anyway
TheCovington18 6 months ago
i think that god gave us free will to have a good life not to use to fuck our life, we use it any way we want anyways , you know god gave us free will and people are using it anyway they want anyway, we do as we like, so even if you ask this question, i believe that god didnt gave us free will to we can get so drunk drive home and kill some one but people still do it, people have the free will to rape somebody,or rob, or cheat, because god didnt give free will to do that so is that the free will
suckmyazzz 6 months ago
The way the question is posed, it is implied the doing what is right does not using free will, and the only way to exercise free will is to sin. This is not true. A person who follows God's will exactly would be the most free person. When people sin, they are trapped in their evil. Sins of all kinds are addictive. True freedom (which feels awesome beyond words) comes from doing what is right given the opportunity to do what is wrong.
NionKirby 6 months ago

This is one of many studies that argue against free will.
padawan6691 6 months ago
YOU ARE TO CENTERED IN THE SIN. IT NOT ABOUT SIN IT'S ABOUT THE ONE THAT DEFEAT IT ALL.
lobat0674 6 months ago
It is not a violation of free will to have a choice, as far as God saying he will kill you if you use your free will to go against what he instructs you to do, you are using a wrong analogy. There are certain laws of the spirit just as there are laws of physics. God is telling us that violating those laws will result in eternal seperation from Him. Your analogy is like saying that a car maker is violating free will by encouraging upkeep on your car, if you dont it breaks, not his fault.
logicnreason1 6 months ago
God only wants people to go heaven that wants to go..Hence "free will". Hell was created for satan and his angels Matthew 25:41 so its youre free will to chose if you want to accept God as youre saviour! It's my free will to follow God so im not sure why you suggest that i cant follow my free will? See what im getting at? Although many think only sin is free will true Christians are following God out of free will..as you eat Burger king out of free will...youre choise.

lol this was pretty silly but I am wondering... what is the will of God in your opinion?
fcblaugrana0 6 months ago
The point of free will. Thanks so much. That has given me the best argument ever for free will (some Christians say we don't have free will). The point of it is to sort the sheep from the goats.
landsell 6 months ago
@landsell The point of it is to seperate the sheep from the goats? But if he's all knowing and he created people he'd already know who was what anyway, so the point is rather pointless I would say.
humanistheart 6 months ago
@humanistheart God is just and will do what appears to be just. He is not some arbitrary dictator and does not wish to appear as such. However, to those who are spiritually blind, God will always appear unjust.
landsell 6 months ago
@landsell "God is just and will do what appears to be just." Well that's clearly not true. If he was going to do what appeared to be just, that would mean that the biblical infanticides were 'just' to you. Please explain how slaughtering infants and the unborn is 'just' to you.
humanistheart 6 months ago
@humanistheart It is indeed ironic to hear this from people who think nothing of abortion. God assuredly killed those people because they were sacrificing their children to idols, and/or planning to kill the Israelites.
landsell 6 months ago
@landsell In some cases he put it into the minds of enemies of Israel to kill Israelites for similar sins, idolatry and such like.
landsell 6 months ago
@landsell Such like being that certain tribes would attack innocent nations outside Israel, without God's permission, when they were not harming the Israelites, or planning to.
landsell 6 months ago

Hosea 4:6 (NIV)

Why would a person resent God for telling them the correct answer?
There are only 2 choices! Life or Death!
God has allowed you to choose, but warned you 2 choose life. (I consider that a heads up.)
If life is the only logical choice, why would you feel like a robot?
Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that
I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
Bepps100 7 months ago
@Bepps100 Lol, no, people still die either way. Also it sounds like you're threatening Az and his children. WTF?
humanistheart 7 months ago
But who made us and the money? We are not capable of free will without restrictions. Like breathing, without the ANS controlling our respiratory rate we wouldn't be free for higher brain function--for choices. We'd be thinking about breathing all the time! We are giving ourselves and our free will too much credit. We are humbled by our own bodies. We were created to be subservient to something--which then gives us a choice.

We do not have thechoice weather or not we die. But bwe can choose weather r not we want to live in Gods house. To get there Christ has made the doorway. By making this doorway we can choose eather or not to accept it.
MissChaceurz 8 months ago

MissChaceurz 8 months ago

There is no logic to Theology. It is nonsence.
youngs1ncere 9 months ago
Free will is a sin against the Church NOT GOD. God gave us free will to be used & brains to be thought with. We were given rules & guidelines to follow but we are failable. God knows that. You can do anything your little heart desires but there will be consequences. That is not paying the debt as in your previous question. Charles Manson has consequences to face!
The point of life w/faith is to try to be the best YOU you can be, following the rules & being yourself. No one said it was easy.
