i got a twin turbo gto 2006... its a red one and my got with 10000 miles on it its the sexyest muscle car ive ever seen heads alwasy turn no matter what happens where you drive it. the car is a beauty and the GTO name stands hight. (: i love that baby and i deffinetly have upgrades on the way.

well their numbers are a half second off in both times, but thats ok, my gto does 13.5, 0-60 in 5, chirpin tires through gears.. gto's are sick, despite the way they look, its perfect

i bought an 05 gto a few months back. i always wanted one so i did research and even after that it still impressed me. all my friends were sayin dont do it not worth it etc now they all drive it more than i. i got a friend who is a mustang nut. hes got an 09 gt and admits it (tho not in a good tone) that ill spank him any time. mine is a stock ls2 automatic and still got 13.5 1/4 mile while burning rubber all through first and part of second, its automatic and burns rubber in second going 50+.
Its a shame that Pontiac made such a powerful, sporty car look like an ugly family sedan. The design of the newest GTO's reflect nothing sportier than a senior citizens bingo and grocery ride.

Not an oval track, a REAL track with hairpins and 90 degree turns
i own a 2004 gto with 130k miles, and this is the most reliable fast car i have ever had. No offense to import and euro car freaks, but you should never pass judgement on something you clearly know nothing about. The gto is SEVERELY underrated, and it is faster than what the media says. You guys really need to open your eyes and stop thinking that bmw/mercedes/audi/honda/toyota's are the only good cars out there. stop falling for the "monkey see monkey do" mentality. it's a GREAT car.

Yeah, most people can't drive these things for some reason. I've seen a bone stock 04 auto run a 13.1 and Budds creek (maryland) when they first came out. I asked him and he said it was stock and he just got it. I think they are a great all around muscle car that didn't get the credit it deserved. What makes it great is that everyone who owns one loves the thing. I might grab me a nice used one here in another year or two. I'm pushing 40 so it would be a great present for myself!
I have an 04. Yes, stock they are down on power to the 05-06's, but it does not take much to mod it to get to that level. I love my goat. I have almost 100k on mine and she has done just fine. I love driving a car that you just don't see many of. They were extremely underappreciated. The funny thing is, many who now own these cars had no real interest in them until they drove them once. I'm actually hoping to get another one (in addition tothis one) to garage and keep for show use.

The new GTO may have sold better if it was re-badged as the New 2004 Grand Prix GTP. I myself love the restyled 04-08 Grand Prix but I know a lot of die hard GTP fans like the 97-03 body-style better. If you park the 03 GTP coupe and the 04 GTO side by side there's a striking resemblance between the two cars, almost as though the GTO really should have been the next generation Grand Prix GTP.
This Holden Monaro based car should had been released in 2003 as a replacement for the Firebird! The old GTO should return only with a good retro bodystyle - like the modern Mustang, and Camaro!

got an 06 GTO, Love it, the best car I have ever had. Got the Suspension problem fixed with the pedders kit, cold air intake from k/n. And just tonight put on the new snow tires for the winter months. My neighbor has a 07 mustang, the goat eats him up every time.
Very easily actually, a lot of M6 GTO's get more than that. I just hate how no review ever tells how fast the car actually is. It does 0-60 in about 4.8 seconds, and does a 1/4 mile in 12.8 if you know how to drive it.
The GTO LS2 engine 0-60 is faster than5.5 seconds its more like 4.5 and quarter mile is 13.3. My father has a stock GTO and it is most definetly fast!

Another Holden Piece of Rubbish: I was the unfortunate owner of a VXR8 and from the day of purchase from Holden as a custom order, 80k AUD purchase price, 4 years of amazing design defects, 4 motors, and traveled 40K in 4 years. nearly 2 years of hire cars from holden and AVIS. Problems from Paint, trim, engine, brakes, camber rear, shifter hitting dashboard, gearbox, diff seals, squeeky dash, front and rear bars not aligned bla. Good Looking car, mechanically SHi&. Your 05 GT doesnt have a chance stock for stock against a GTO, and even with some mods, you will come up short. I know because I used to waste GTs in my 06 GTO. People that hate on this car just never drove one- its an amazing performance car. Also, the car is faster than these guys claim. I miss my goat

This tv show sucks, the old LS1 gto ran 14's but not the 05-06, I have a 03 cobra and my friend has a 05 GTO LS2 m6 and we both run 12.8-13.0 at beech bend raceway in bowling green KY only things we have done are exhaust.
In all fairness and actuality an exhaust (especially mufflers) done on any car really does little to nothing for performance. It's more of a audible mod. The GTO's stock fart cans actually are very very free flowing already.

Look around. The 5.7's are very cheap right now. I drive a focus, but my insurance would only go up $7 a month with the 5.7. It would go up $40 for the 6.0. Making up the HP difference wouldn't be difficult. I found an '04 with 40k mi for ~$13k. I found another '04 with 60k mi for $11.5k.
0-60 in 5.5 second but only 14 in the 1/4 mile. I guess thats about right. I would think 400hp would be able to get 13's but I guess I don't know much =]

Not really, I work at a body shop and I am in and out of alot of cars, and I would have to say the quality isn't that great on foreign cars. Like an 08 tundra, it is nice, but compared to a new Tahoe or F250, the tundra is about the same or worse.
There was also a corolla that came through and I leaned on the console and broke it lol.
Also ALL of the 90's chevy trucks that have come through there had about 180,000 miles.
It just depends on how you take care of your car.

I drove the G8 and the pontiac solstice no less the stick GXP turbo, however at 6'4" my knees were touching the steering wheel. If you could fab in a 9" with some sort of single wishbone modern setup i'm sure the car would grab at least a full second or more in the 1/4!

This summer you will be able to buy Pontiac Hemi heads, real Hemi Heads! I have a lustful hate for Chevy.
Every time I see an LS engine I think of the cost to build one, no less the LSX LS7 engines, the material used titanium rods, dry sump oil systems, even the oil pan is a structured part of the engine. As cool as the engine is I think they should have spent more time on the GM Volt..

the word pontiac on the trunk does not make it any better or worse of a car, so who really cares? you'll find that most new age gto owners arent die hard pontiac/GTO enthusiasts. most of us drive the car for what its worth, and thats its daily driveablity and uniqueness from everything else on the road.
It's not the fact that it has the name Pontiac on it , it's the fact that Holden left it off the car for over 1 1/2 runs. Holden hated calling it a Pontiac GTO, this was their baby not Pontiacs. As well you cant be a Pontiac guy if you buy Chevy parts, or by that matter replacement parts from another nation!
yea i'm not going to lie, it urks me a bit. i am however glad for my own selfishness that they were brought over here though. i prefer not to drive a 98 to 02 f body just because of the age, and c6 just wouldnt be practical for me. the gto just fit right into place for me since i wanted a new, fast, comfortable, and relatively inexpensive car
GM put the car in a fair area for you, us, most of us, its rwd V8 that has almost limitless addons , my only problem with the car is the name, even calling it what it really is would have been fine for me. I owned a 66' ragtop, a 67' hardtop, an '05. I currently own an '06. I've been a GTO man ever since Dad brought home his new red '64 tri-power. And the Gen-5 Goats are definitely faster, better handling, more comfortable, and safer than any of their predecessors. Tho I'd kill to have my red '66 ragtop back.

got an 06 GTO, Love it, the best car I have ever had. Got the Suspension problem fixed with the pedders kit, cold air intake from k/n. And just tonight put on the new snow tires for the winter months. My neighbor has a 07 mustang, the goat eats him up every time.

Very easily actually, a lot of M6 GTO's get more than that. I just hate how no review ever tells how fast the car actually is. It does 0-60 in about 4.8 seconds, and does a 1/4 mile in 12.8 if you know how to drive it.

The GTO LS2 engine 0-60 is faster than5.5 seconds its more like 4.5 and quarter mile is 13.3. My father has a stock GTO and it is most definetly fast!

Another Holden Piece of Rubbish: I was the unfortunate owner of a VXR8 and from the day of purchase from Holden as a custom order, 80k AUD purchase price, 4 years of amazing design defects, 4 motors, and traveled 40K in 4 years. nearly 2 years of hire cars from holden and AVIS. Your 05 GT doesnt have a chance stock for stock against a GTO, and even with some mods, you will come up short. I know because I used to waste GTs in my 06 GTO. In all fairness and actuality an exhaust (especially mufflers) done on any car really does little to nothing for performance. It's more of a audible mod. The GTO's stock fart cans actually are very very free flowing already.

Look around. The 5.7's are very cheap right now. I drive a focus, but my insurance would only go up $7 a month with the 5.7. It would go up $40 for the 6.0. Making up the HP difference wouldn't be difficult. I found an '04 with 40k mi for ~$13k. I found another '04 with 60k mi for $11.5k.

Not really, I work at a body shop and I am in and out of alot of cars, and I would have to say the quality isn't that great on foreign cars. Like an 08 tundra, it is nice, but compared to a new Tahoe or F250, the tundra is about the same or worse.
There was also a corolla that came through and I leaned on the console and broke it lol.
Also ALL of the 90's chevy trucks that have come through there had about 180,000 miles.
It just depends on how you take care of your car.

I drove the G8 and the pontiac solstice no less the stick GXP turbo, however at 6'4" my knees were touching the steering wheel. If you could fab in a 9" with some sort of single wishbone modern setup i'm sure the car would grab at least a full second or more in the 1/4!

honestly, yes and no. i really wish i had the holden monaro, and not the GTO. i think having a right hand drive v8 would be really cool to have.

5.5 secs to 60? Try 4.5 secs and 1/4 mile of about 13 secs.
