  • We're playing this piece for band. I love this song.

  • kind of lame music for space...

  • first heard the music on a jackie chan movie then on a radio then here :P

  • thanks for the planet footage..... helped heaps with assignments ♥

  • Very Nice!!!!!! It sounded fantastic! it seems like it was a little under tempo, which I actually prefer!

  • cool music

  • The piece has a very unique instrument choice it uses instruments like the bass oboe

  • Sorry to say, but this is easily one of the worst renditions of Holst's Jupiter that I have ever heard. Typically, it is an inspiring piece with strong accents and feeling. With both a terribly-off tempo and a troubling lack of proper intonation, this orchestra disfigures the piece into sounding like an afterthought, rather than the climax of Holst's suite. As a longtime pianist and violinist myself, I do not underestimate the difficulties of performance...but this is severely lacking.

  • @Informer3X Yes i agree there is no pitch control in the brass section. This is the worst orchestra i've heard play this piece of great music. Plus its really slow and boring.

  • Favorite part starts at 3:26

  • @Bryiahq1234 same!

  • Yes, our planet has run into a problem. B.O. the worst president ever. NASA is now trying to make muslims feel better about themselves? WHAT the World?

  • This makes me sad for NASA.

  • Awesome first name!

  • Love Holst! Got here looking for an instrument! I'm looking for a Roland TB303 BASS LINE.

  • i wonder what a daytime sky would look like on the surface of mercury

  • This piece actually inspired John Williams on scoring Star Wars and Hans Zimmer on scoring Gladiator. So I must say it's a classic for any composers.

  • indeed, as soon as the omega conquer ray comes into wal- mart we'll have all of them!

(they're so adorable arguing with such immaturity)

  • Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, whatever, believe what you believe in.

  • @CITGProductions - you forgot the most important - Jedi \m/

  • what planet are you living on??

    Tres-4???

  • naw, Shapses is much nicer

  • Exceent but if u want better check out Houston symphony w/ conductor graf and HD NASA by cop (hope correct spelling) it is amazing

  • wow i wish i could go to mars or somewhere around,

  • Awesome!

  • from 2:00 t0 2:27 my fav part !

  • That is a really kewl part!! Where the Callistio Space Probe is flying by Jupiter!!

    So KEWL!!

  • Isn't that New Horizons, not Callisto?

  • Correct, it is the New Horizons space probe getting a gravity boost by Jupiter on its journey to Jupiter.

  • this song makes me wish I was a french horn player, not trumpet...

  • Astronomy has been my favorite area of study ever since i was a young boy. Great video!

  • a famous figure skater jeremy abbott is skating to this wonderful poece for his long program:-)

  • Great song, but perhaps this orchestra tackled a piece a little too challenging for their abilities.

  • I dont think its real footage but looks great. All time fav is Jupiter. (0f the Planets- thankx!)

  • *headslap*

    failure...

  • agree...

  • Also, I love this song. Nice video too.

  • This video further convinces me there's no such thing as god. By the way, that's a really bad orchestra.

  • ha. man we played this in band today, but we played the arangment for band not orchestra. because we dont have an orchestra... :(

but still.. not the best orchestra ive ever heard.. :/ but still pretty great ;)

  • Not the best orchestra I've heard.

  • Ok this is sweet, and dude... the guy named Dillon4bassoons I can tell you rock! Cuz bassoon is the best instrument ever... I play is.. and out of everything I play, it's the best.

  • My High School Orchestra is trying to play this and it is very hard, with many different keys, this is a great job

  • That is awesome!

  • Princecaspian, thank you for posting this brilliant video.

I like earth best, especially in one piece and no cream on top.

Did you see the floating pollution?

  • Actually something interesting about that is that there is a split in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres where the pollution seems to "vanish." That's because the northern Hemisphere, with the most industrialized nations, produces more pollution than the Southern. The winds keep the pollution in the northern hemisphere, so that the southern hemisphere is actually quite a bit clearer than the northern.

  • Excellent work! Lets get to Mars already!

  • Hope theres life in the planets^^

  • Very nice, and the college orchestra did an exceptional job! That's not an easy movement to play, even for a professional orchestra! Too bad you couldn't put all of it on here! The ending is awesome!

  • Thanks for the comment. I may do another version of this video at a later date and add more NASA/JPL video footage.

  • Also watch my videoresponse to this video.

  • so awsome!!! i love this song and the animation!!!

  • this is jupiter, lol.....not the planets...lol

  • "Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity" is one of seven movements in "The Planets" suite by Gustav Holst. So yes technically yes its Jupiter but it is also part of the The Planets.

  • Oh and i forgot to mention, great video!

  • Thanks!

  • oh yh theres also pluto listen to it on my channel and im not joking.

  • "this is jupiter, lol.....not the planets...lol"

When you make an attempt at correcting someone please use proper English, the only person who looks like a moron here is you.

  • great work!!

  • I also forgot to add that Prince Caspian is going to theaters in a couple weeks!!!!

  • Thanks River Stix,

I love putting good animation together with great classical music.

C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein are two of my favorite authors. Looking forward to Prince Caspian, it looks pretty sweet.

  • That is awesome! great composition.
