"that was just wooden boards and some steel". In other words, a perfectly safe bridge made of common bridge materials? Were the footings made of just some concrete, rock and rebar too?
Think about it, in the 1910s, and 1800s, all bridges were for trains, were mostly only wood, and nothing else. (aside the steel bolts and iron rails), and a car today, weighs how much? about 2000 pounds, a train back then, weighed about 10-40 TONS, that's 40 TIMES at much as a car. 80000 pounds. You're fine.
Theres no real danger on that bridge. Judging by its width and how it looks I want to say that is on old rail bridge meaning that thing will be safe to use for a long time.
@IamDarkStar2012 Hell im with him. I would worry my ass off going over that thinking how much my insurence would go up if I happen to fall through it. Not to mention the fact that the water may be deeper than you think. For all you know the water could be up to 35 feet deep. Even a small drop into water makes it extremely hard for people to escape because they panic. If you use the brain god gave you, you might actually think about the things I have told you here today. Good day to you, sir.
thats not scary, i want you try driving over the youtube video called "very very scary bridge video" now that's a little bit scary. This one you got on was fun. Be a man!
That's nothin'. I've been on worse bridges in the US, which is becoming a Third World country, thanks to Republicans. The steel in that through truss design is actually quite generous, although the wood plank decking is somewhat questionable. Many RR bridges in the US circa 1900 were less beefy than that.
It is clear to see, that this bridge is only built for a limited time. If you look at the end of the video, you can see a huge road, built ready near the beginning of the bridge. The construction of the new bridge had begun, but not ready, so therefore this scarying bridge will be there for just a little time ;-)
Man - that was the Sydney Harbour Bridge compared to some I've had to go over. I'd get outa Latin America if you want to feel safer than that wherever you go!
Looks like the OhMyGod bridge just N of Quepos. It's actually a old, repurposed US-built (AmBridge, I think) RR bridge, ~100 years old, that has seen zero maintenance. The new bridge (concrete slab) next to it should be finished any year now!

"A bridge made of just wooden boards and some steel" .. wow
The exact same materials used to build bridges for trains weighing 150 times that of a car.
A very sturdy bridge (though poorly surfaced road) 10 feet above a slow moving river.
Scary uh
