This song is so fabulous live rather than the studio version. It comes together, peaking at the end in the most beautiful truthful harmonies. Having been at that concert, it is an experience that I will never forget. Just another instance where their live versions transcend the studio perfection. I love this band! There has never been an equal to Paul and Grace's music.
In over 40 years of listening to rock 'n roll, this is still one of my favorite off the cuff lines ever uttered by a rock performer, "In loyalty to their kind / the cannot tolerate our minds / I CAN'T EITHER."
One of the great, legendary bands riding the crest of the West Coast Cultural Renaissance during the 60's. Can someone tell me why this band, like Quicksilver, Steve Miller Band(pre-Joker), Spirit, 90% of Santana, & 99%of the Grateful Dead's 30 year output are REPEATEDLY ignored by the monolithic-mega-monopolistic Music Corp's with all of their "programmed" radio formats??!!
Time always tells...,Ya's can't keep talent down!!
"They cannot tolerate our minds" "I can't either" Grace sneaks in. Hilarious. But what a beautiful vocal ending and live too.

The original recording is a MASTERPIECE.
This version is very cool.
In 500 years they will listen and be in awe at the artistry.

I agree Northerner.....they just don't make music like this anymore. These are such powerful memories for me. What a time.
