  • i have 2 ball pythons together in a tank a male and a female he is a little over 1 yer and she is around a yer when should i split them up?

  • Lmao these guys telling Ralph fucking Davis how to set up a BP enclosure. This dude has produced some of the worlds best ball pythons. All his BPs are healthy and perfect. Stfu and do some research. Sad half the shit these scrubs are talking about is shit they learned from those "reptile experts" at their local pet shops.

  • Thanks for this vid helped me on my own royal python (Y)

  • I use the exact same heat pad and it gets too hot for my snake. It gets upwards to 110 degrees. And yes that's with slot of substrate.

  • I can listen some Steve Vai on the back, ; D And that is cool!

  • Where I live 10 gallon tanks cost $50+

If you're lucky you can find one used on Kijiji for $20

  • Great video my daughter learned a lot that the pet store neglected to tell us. Now her snake zelda will have a happy and longer life. Thanks JDA

  • @Jaxownz38 go ahead buy a 50-100 gallon tank nd watch your snake stress the Fuck out nd die :)

  • Based on your experience and/or opinion, would you say many albino ball pythons sold from stores were inbred or no. I want to get one from a reptile expo maybe, but how would I know lol

  • 75 watt heats to 102 F for me. I would go with a 60 watt instead

  • I have a baby ball python amd have all same stuff but i wish thay made tha black hide that u have

  • hey ralph u dont like no decoration or anything

  • Ok. I bought a Ball Python. It's 2 months old. But he keeps drooling? Alot of the time when he yawns he drools. He also makes this weird..clicking sound. Not hissing. Please help someone?

  • i personally love snakes and i study them and i have a few snakes myself but thanks for the tips on what to use to make my ball pythons tank better

  • i personally love snakes and i study them and i have a few snakes myself but thanks for the tips on what to use

  • OK 1 that 10 gallon isnt gunna last the snake that long so waste of money if u wana have the tank for large amount of time buy a 50-100 gallon tank im getting a 150 gallon for mine

  • I like your manly approaching to unpackaging and instruction read (ie lack of)

  • every single heat source should be on a thermostat !

  • thanks for the viedo it help me alot for a normal baby ball python setup

  • is your 10 gallon for fish because u said u bought it for 12 dollars

  • @Bugarin7NBI you just answered your own question

  • OMG that music. Derrik is NOT paying attention, he is tring to block out the screaming in the background!

  • i have a question. we just got our snake yesterday. he's a 2 ft ball python, very pretty. i get that they like heat, but i live in florida and we have no air conditioning at the moment. ( new trailor needs work) do i still need a heating source for him during the day when the temps reach 90 degrees? i would think not, but i wanted to ask. i dont want to have his heat light on while im sitting on my couch sweating. lol. id feel bad if he got hotter than me.

  • @tbear6385 yes you should still have a heat source for him that is hooked up to a thermostat. being hooked up to a thermostat it would shut off when the temps are where they should be if its by the sun or by your heater.

the reason you should still have a heat source is the temps are not always going to be 90 all the time what happens at night if the temp drops to 65-70?

  • @771subliminal we have the heat source on for him at night cause it does get cool. my question was for the daytime. lol. but thank you though. you answered my question.lol

  • Iwhat kind of carpet do i need to use? cuz i cant find any of these in my local pet store xD

also, is there anything else i can add to the heat lamp? for the heat i mean, something other than the heat pad or whatever they call it... the cage i have is 80cms hight.. & i have a burmese python (sry if my english isnt that good)

  • i look every day one video of ralph its crasy

  • Ralph Davis vs Chuck Norris. WINNER= Ralph Davis

  • how long can a ball python stay in the 10 gallon

  • does loud music piss off ball pythons? i know they are docile but i tend to have really loud, hard music a lot of the time and i'm wondering if it will be a problem?

  • @FrapEm Well, from what I understand snakes don't have ears, so they're deaf but they can easily feel vibrations, so if you have your music with like a sub woofer (sp?) attached to it making a ton of vibrations then I think that will/could get them stressed.

  • im not gonna read this(two seconds later) hhmmm blah blah blah

  • wow a 75w bulb? i use a 40w mabe i should change that lol.. thanks for the vid.

  • do you need a light aswell or can you just use the heat pad?? and also where did u get the ten gallon from??

  • @reptile1011 You don't need a light for a ball python no, it can make the tank really dry and their day and night cycle is pretty much like a persons, also I recommend having a second tank for feeding since a snake could mistake your hand for food, especially when they molt and their eyes cloud over :)

  • is a 36x18x17 big enough for a ball?

  • the heating pad automatically stops at a certian temp?

  • Youtube land :-)

  • you are a moron dude, those heat pads cook your snake! You need a thermostat to plug into the heat pad...

  • ralph davis if you have a reptile carpet in the enclosure and a heat mat under it won't it burn the snake?I mean i use calcium sand in my enclosure cause it's fat and safe.If you use reptile carpet then the snake might burn itself

  • where did you purchase all of your supplies

  • i've got a undertank heater and an overhead heating lamp i use in the day in my 20 gal 30in long terrarium for my ball python..had her for two yrs shes only 3ft long

  • thanks i found this video very helpful for my snake

  • When is a good changing time to 40 gallons tank, I´m talking about Ball Python age.

  • thats cool i bought a ball pyton and knew nothing a bout it but got a ll the right stuff except the heat pad

  • Okay I have a question. I know cigarette smoke is bad for a snake. But what about Marijuana smoke I would NEVER forcefully blow smoke around its cage or near him I'm just wondering if marijuana is harmful to him. So I can avoid being around him when I'm smoking it. Only expert answers please, thanks.

  • @bellotti8101 Also I don't smoke cigarettes just marijuana. Cigarettes actually kill people...

  • @bellotti8101 lol rnt u glad cops r too lazy to find out whrere u live through your youtube channel when they see that comment?

  • @zookeeper2345 lmao

  • @bellotti8101 just don't smoke its going to kill you

  • @bellotti8101 Smoke is bad for any animal with lungs to breathe in. Marijuana is harmless if it is humidified or placed in food (like brownies). Smoking it is still harmful. Even though cigarettes are probably more dangerous because of the extra added ingredients, I would still definitely avoid smoking anything around your pet. You may want to smoke in a separate, well ventilated room. Also consider getting an air purifier to put in the room with the snake so you don't have to worry about it.

  • @bellotti8101 i dont no if its harmful but if u do u might end up with a high snake

  • @bellotti8101 Hi...lol

  • @bellotti8101 i smoke it too if it was harmfull to snakes you wouldnt be able to tell until it died unexpectedly. but most reptiles dont like smoke no matter wat type it is. i wonder wat a python would act like when stoned would you be able to tell lol

  • @bellotti8101 u smoke marijuana!!! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD

  • @YukonDaniels BRAAAAAAAAIIIN WASHED

  • @bellotti8101 facepalm.

  • @bellotti8101 so if it's pure marijuana smoke, it won't be as bad as cigarette smoke. but if you mix tobacco with your ash or weed, it will be bad for the snake. anyway, smoke even from fire are not recommended near to a snake or its cage, they still wild animals which can be stressed by an unusual thing like smoke is for them.

  • @bellotti8101 Smoke of any kind is harmful to humans, other mammals, and reptiles. Cigarette smoke, when inhaled, is obviously worse, but exhaled smoke filling a room with a snake of any kind is bad. Whether it's from a cig, a joint, or a piece of paper you light on fire.

  • @bellotti8101 Definetely man, cigarette smoke obviously has poisonous substances where as weed just stinks. But i dont think its a good idea, maybe thats something you've already found on your own. Hopefully your snake has gotten accustomed to it all Peace man hope it helped.

  • Doesn't the snake go in the shade to get out of the heat, why would you put the hide box on top of it?

  • "nubby" hehe! ^^

  • dose any one no where i can get a baby ball python that can be shipped form like kansas oklahoma or texas

  • @Shadoqwsniper Check with Bob Clark Reptiles, he specializes in big snakes but also sells ball python.

  • i take it it cost alot of money to feed and the up keep of all your pythons you have ?

  • if you have a pad, do you need a light, or is it optional

  • do you ship to uk ?

  • what be good for measuring my tanks temp because i got a bulb and heat pad for it but what i use to measure temp i think is wrong casue on the heat pad side it goes up to 100

  • were do u sell ur snakes

  • *cringe*

I HATE zoomed heat pads. Just to prove my point on how inaccurate they are, I took an Acu-rite digital thermometer and put it in the tank with the UTH undeneath. If the tank wasn't hanging 1/2 way off the counter, the heat pas would make the tank (with paper towel substrate) get up to 120* F. No matter what temperature it starts out at or where it's placed, the temperature fluctuated as much as 25 degrees in a half hour. There was NO draft or other factor that would have done this.

  • where can you get terrariums like this? with the "click on" lid?

are they available in sweden? Love to have one... much better than crappy glassdoors

  • How old/big does my python have to be to bump him up to a 50gallon tank?

  • Ralph is a BA ball python man. I plan on getting one from him soon. :)

  • I'm new to snakes (recently bought some corn snakes) and my mother's boyfriend - who has owned a boa constrictor - and I are looking to get either a medium sized boa or python. What species would you guys suggest? I understand that snakes can grow huge and live 20+ years. By the way, we live in the desert but the apartment usually stays around 84+ F. Also I need to know what kind of cage and lighting should I use since it will most likely be kept in my closet where there is more space.

  • where do you buy your water bowls? Please respond if you can.

  • thats a big heating pad i got like a 37 gal tank im not sure i bought it on craigslist

any ways my heating pad is like half the size should i get a bigger one or just buy heating pad

  • If you leave the heat pad on all the time won't it overheat and maybe crack the glass?

  • @707HAMMERHEAD707 mine is on constantly and to me really dosnt help warm the cage it just stays warm in the one area i reccomend a heating lamp im goin to buy one today

  • About how much did all this cost?

  • i hav a male bp and h is I and a half month old and im feeding him mice fuzzis

weekley is that ok or what shoul i fed him (if i shoul fied him rats or biggr meals )thanks and its about a foot an ttwo inchs

  • i have a question is better to get a baby or one that an adult like would a baby get used to u faster then and adult one would and could i use a 50 gallion tank for a baby one cause i hread from a friend that u could

  • yOU guys Effing Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're the best ball python video ever on you tube!!!! I've always wanted a snake, but my mom would not let me have one, but since i moved out on my own I can finally own one, even though my mom will still trip out on it. Thank you, thank you, I now feel extra confident that i'm doing it right. Best video set up ever, i'm not just sayin' this cuz i've been drinking, i'm saying this becuz it's the troof. Thanks guys. Once again u guys ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey why do i need to put the heat lamp above the water i thought u have it over the house and i have a heat lamp and a day lamp where do i need to put them

  • wow are all those ball pythons

  • how much does all of that cost?

  • whats the difference between aspen bedding n the pad you used whats better and why?

  • the instructor dude sounds like zakk wylde

  • using newspaper or carpet is usually ok for ball pythons when young, but you will need to use something like aspen bedding or douglas fir bark when it gets older. Also using an under tank heater with newspaper/carpet, isnt a good idea because it is set to get to around 85 degrees with an inch thick layer of substrate and not an eighth of an inch layer of paper/carpet, so it could get to 88-90 degrees which would hurt your snake

  • can i use a repti therm under tank heater?

  • can you write in like a shop list what i need for this im thinking of getting a ball python for my first pet snake so if you could be grateful.

  • what size will it need full size, and what age would u declare the snake is about full size

  • I agree. You should definitely use a thermostat for the heat pad, especially with thick bodied snakes like ball pythons. heat pads will create heat of up to 40-50C The fat body of a python blocks heat and they get minor burns when the hot end reaches late 30s roughly I'd say. My mats are on stats but once the probe moved (fix it down! lol) and I think it was approaching 40C in temp, not huge, but my ball python had a pink belly for several days. Nothing serious- but could have been.

  • @Skyespirit86 Put the thermostat probe directly on the heat pad and use a digital thermometer to set the temperature. That will help you avoid accidents like the snake moving the probe and the temperature spiking, or the snake getting the tape stuck to himself.

Anyone who has questions should check out ball (hyphen) pythons (dot) net.

  • after i feed my ball python should it go in back in the cage

  • do i have to have a themasat or a reosat cant i just use 2 thermometers

  • This video helped ALOT when my friend got a bp :D

  • where did u get the clips to lock on the lid

  • You do need a light source that produces UVB rays to help the animal process calcium

  • @saturn520 they are nocturnal, UVB lights arent neccessary for ball pythons

  • is a 29 gallon to big for a baby python.

  • that is like a public library of reptiles

  • Why don't you recommend a thermostat for the heating pad?

  • I agree. You should definitely use a thermostat for the heat pad, especially with thick bodied snakes like ball pythons. heat pads will create heat of up to 40-50C The fat body of a python blocks heat and they get minor burns when the hot end reaches late 30s roughly I'd say. • How many times should they be feed?

  • exo terra heat pads are way better and have the bigger better spacers

  • do these snakes need any kind of uv light or is it un-nessisary? and i have a 40 gallon tank, i was going to make 1/3 of the tank water , with a aquarium water filter , so that the water will waterfall in to the mini-beach front, would the noise of the water stress him out?

  • Is it really necessary to have a heat mat and a light

  • about how long can a ball python stay in a 20 g long tank.. it is 30'' by 12'' and idk the depth.. but i think it is 17'', but that doesnt really matter.. right?

  • How many snakes do u usually have there? Great video.

  • in mn theyre 20

  • You have to be careful if you use newspaper with print make sure its the black and white print the colored print can leak in moisture and can harm the snake

  • i want a ball python so badly, i want a pastel or pinstripe, but there are no places in england where they sell those sort of snakes, are there any websites that can ship exotic snakes into the uk, please someone reply

  • hey there, where abouts do you live? i know the japenese koi company in henlow, bedfordshire have a vast range of snakes and i think i saw ball pythons in the at the weekend :) worth a look, welll amazing shop

  • 95$

  • it depends on the type of snkae it is.

    price

    normal: $50 $80

    pastel:$80 $100

  • normals are $30 at chicagoland reptile...its a great store

  • hmm hes seems quite moody, dude you on your period or something?

  • Alright, kool, and then how long untill i upgrade to a bigger tank. Sorry for the question's lol im just trying tio learn basic;s before i get my first snake.

  • what if i got a baby snake and raised him in a 20 or 40 gallon tank, instead of starting him off in a 10 gallon.?

  • babies do much better started off in a small enclosure

  • @ralphdavis Hello just got my vplastic viv and all the stuff needed but i cant get the temps right i eather have the warm side to cold and the cool side fine or i have the warm side fine and the cool side 5 degrees over the right temp, not getting my ball for another 3-5 weeks so its not a big issue at the moment but how can i cool the cool side? thanks

  • it doesnt really matter it just gives the snake a bigger place to roam around in. but the snake might get stressed out easier so just let him get used to the tank before u put him in it. that is what i did

  • @killakev0491 its depends on snakes size, if the snake is a baby u would need a smaller enclosure. It feels safer that way, and when they do feel save they will not be aggressive. But make sure the tunnel(where snake go in a stay) should also be good size for your snake.

  • my local pet store has a starting kit for a ball python with all tht stuff and i bigger tank for 229.99. it includes the snake to. is tht a good deal? it hs a couple more thingswith it like some hiding places and stuff

  • yes

  • UTH are good for the fact they help in digestion. If yoiu get on go all out and pay $100 for a kane heat pad instead of a zoo med pad which is more likly to break down and is not as strong. a heat pad is not ment to warm the tank but is ment to heat up the substrate that will then warm the snake.

  • i don't actually have a snake set up, i'd estimate a baby snake set up would cost 50 bucks though, then add the cost of a 30 gallon tank for when its bigger. i bought an UTH for my gecko cause the glass is cold as hell. it just warms the glass pretty much.

  • 2 guys at the pet shop told me i shouldnt get a heating pad, then my friend who has had his ball python for 6 years told me he never had a heating pad. are they really nessasary?

  • pads are a good idea in a "home environment" set-up

  • depends. i think they're for belly heat, so if you're room is cold, then the glass will be cold, and it'll mess up digestion. so you use an UTH for that.

  • @yungking216 same thing with me he said if you speel water in it it will crack your tank

  • @yungking216 I have found that many times people at the pet stores dont know what they are talking about. Ground heat is best for Corn snakes and Ball pythonsm since they are a ground snake they get there heat from the ground. Not only that but they are nocternal so they dont bask out in the sunlight like other snakes.

  • Ralph Davis is the god of ball pythons in my opinion! I just cant afford any of his snakes. If you want good quality balls and have the money, buy from this guy!!

  • @MENMYMUSTANG54 I would love good quality balls..... /wink

  • Got enough snakes there buddy? lol Are you a breeder or something?

  • haha of course hes a breeder, he has created some ball python morphs too

  • Never seen a breeders setup before. I've never really known anything about snakes before, just getting interested in them now.

  • ohh, well congrats, reptiles are sick animals man

  • Totally. I'm really interested in getting a ball python now, or maybe a savannah monitor!

  • if ur new dont get a monitor, get something simpler because monitors require a very large, custom tarrirum

  • I got my first ball python and the people I got him from said if I had enough bedding on top of the heating pad he should be ok. Are they right?

  • yeah but you need a thermostat so it doesn't get too hot if you don't have one...well...you shouldn't have a snake theres thermostats that are really cheap and reliable on the internet

  • so what should the temp be on top of the bedding of the hide side

  • there are 2 hide sides....not 1

  • i have my python in a 20gal.

  • im getting a ball python or a kenyan sand boa in a week or 2.

  • i was told NOT use a light but i have a heating pad is that good???

  • yea usually snakes r mocturnal so a daybulb is not necassary unless u want the temp higher but if you have a heat pad then thats fine.

  • yes

  • im prob gettin a ball python. money is gonna b tight soon. i have a 5 gallon tank i used for my old scorpion. would that be good until i can get a big tank? im gettin a baby if i get one. the 5 gallon will only for b not even 2 weeks...

  • lol thats a bit too small, 10 gallon is a good min size for a baby

  • get a 40 gallon that way wen the snake grows you dont have to speed all that mony on a 40 gallon becuz you alredy have one

  • @kiDkiDkiD12

that isn't a good idea, kid. Ball pythons like to feel secure. A 40 gallon would be way too big for a baby, unless you somehow partition it. That much open space would likely make it stress out, which could disrupt his feeding and make it ill.

  • @kiDkiDkiD12 the snakes do way better in a 10 to start they like smaller tanks and hey if you do do it our way then you have extra tanks for more reps!

  • you dont actually NEED a light for the snake as long as you have a heat pad, right?

  • The light is good for bringing the day time temp up........it is turned off at night. The pad is on 24/7

  • @mappoprimo , oh yeah because snakes dont need uv rays do they! nob

  • @christopherreeve lol, nob :P

  • lot of snakes ya got there =o how many is that?

  • four. :P

  • really helpfull and understandable video about ball pythons and wat you need to breed one :) i want all those really cheap parts ones where can you get it?? 5/5

  • is 3foot long by 2foot deep too big for an adult ball python

  • that is a good size

  • Question! My house gets very cold in the winter, and we usually run the heat to keep it at 50 degrees F. Would I need to leave the heating bulb on all night were I to have a snake?

  • YES!
