Great vid, sorry to hear about your loss... I was a Firefighter too, it still runs in me. I was perm injured on the job in LE, & it still hurts when the pager goes off but I can't go on it... @MrReddok Thank you for the advice. My plan was to at least get my EMT 1 certificate no matter what my career choice was. I might have trouble finding a college, but i'm willing to try. I'm physically small, and never played sports, but i'm healthy and in decent enough shape. thank you again.

I want to work for the fire service so bad, any tips for someone who's just graduating high school wanting to get into it?

@punkboy198 - I have been out of the fire service for many years. I am sure there are a bunch of guys here that will weigh in with advice. I will say, much like everything in life, hard work and perseverance will go far. You will also be ahead by gaining valuable skills such as paramedic training. I wish you good luck. You will never regret a career in the fire service.

Go and talk to your local Fire Dept. They can tell you how and where to apply. Depending on where you live there may be a Volunteer Fire Dept in which you can gain valuable training if you dont have a paid Fire Dept in your location.

@punkboy198 Punk, career FF/EMTP here, Just a few words on your question directed @ doc. #1 Volunteer, experience is everything. #2 GO TO COLLEGE my brother, look for a fire science program. OK univ, Univ of Cincinnati, and East KY Univ. have four year programs. check in your area. #3 doc, is right, get your emt, and paramedic training. firefighting is the glory, but ems is what we do, 80/20!! EKU has both a medic and ff program. #4 look @ military, USAF has big FF prog.  Alot of Airmen are FF
