Amazing. There is no such thing as a gun show loophole. MAIG is an organization with the goal of restricting firearms rights until it equates to an outright ban. Disagree? Like all BS gun control nonsense, the idea of a gun show loophole equates guns to crime, and gun owners to criminals. It assumes that we need Big Government poking their nose into our lives and recording every gun sale. I don't want to pay a $25 FFL fee when I buy an old $75 shotgun or .22 rifle. This is just another way to make gun ownership less affordable while doing nothing to decrease crime.

Private firearm sales between citizen is legal in most states. Private citizens are not required to perform background checks on each other and have no access to do so anyway. At gunshows, besides sales from licensed dealers, some private sales without background checks occur as well. These private sales, that occur daily in many locations, when occuring at a gun show has been termed the "gun show loophole".

2% of criminals who used a firearm to commit a crime got their guns through gun shows. Over 90% of guns used in crimes are purchased illegally under current laws. Banning private sales at gun shows would make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to acquire guns for self-defense and other lawful purposes while doing nothing to reduce crime. The two percent of criminals who buy their guns legally at shows will just buy them illegally.
