And you're right about what attracts people to metal, cos when my mate got me into it, it really helped me get through shitty times in secondary school. Esp when I was a fucked up , angry weird kid (I made shameful mistakes :/ ) and how I got bullied for it and messed around by people
True shit man - I've been into metal from my mate for 4 years since I was 16 (I was more into the post hardcore thing for a while back then too). I'm not a metalhead but I have got similar critcisms from people for liking it. Fuck em, I know its not as evil as people make it out to be. And yeh, apart from nice metalheads, the elitist fans really piss me off esp when they belittle others for liking different shit to them :/
Brilliant,well thought out,eloquent message.I think the thing about 'pop' or 'easy listening' is that they aren't particularly evocative,both styles are fairly inoccuous.I don't claim to know much about metal,I perceive it to be quite heavy going but I imagine it DOES evoke deeper emotion.Your music analogies,though,can be employed in the wider world,when you talk about judgement calls.People seem all too keen to judge others simply 'cause they are 'different'.Well spoken,matey.
