Its understandable if the first crash happens because they don't see the black ice, but the next drivers should see the crashed cars (hello? not just one, but many) from further away and they can slow down earlier and thus avoid the crash.

Its black ice in Nashville Tennessee. And when the road worker first got there that side was clear but before he could get to the first car to help other cars started to crash on the clear side. I was there that day I did not crash but almost did. and anyone that thinks he can drive on black ice is fooling them self's no one can I lived in Maine for 20 years driving there is easy but here in Tennessee we get a lot of Ice it's like driving on grease!!

@killersleepingbag you can't go in to first gear on black ice doing that speed, doing that will lock up the wheels exactly the same so why don't you go and tell your dad (who I'm expecting has told you) and tell him he's wrong, you can brake using the gears on snow and it will work on black ice at VERY slow speed but unfortunately the only way to not do what these dickheads are doing is to go very slow, but people are just not that smart. On snow or ice you only go the speed that you are happy

He is clearly not competent to do his job. But if the employer had failed to train him correctly or failed to monitor his work then he would have grounds for a defence. how can you warn others?? like what are you going to do exactly? stand in the middle of the road with your hand up hoping they can stop before they hit you? all drivers should know that driving at certain times of a year means you could be on possible ice so drive slow. problem is people think the speed limit on the sign means all year round, that speed limit means you can drive at that speed if the roads are in good condition if not, go slower.
