@OwnageFish Some effects are shown in real time (see later parts in the video). The rest should be non realtime stuff as Lagoa can take seconds to hours for single frame calculations, depending on the settings you've entered.
no game can use this... for a pretty long time... i mean this can use an engine based on this, but the same effects can't be recreated on a game...it would take too much time to render =P
@luckyazian13 GTA use Euphoria for player and I think the common physic is a home made one [included in Rage]. As Lagoa is, DMM physic is awesome, check on youtube.
I doubt this would be used for games...more for CGI and Hollywood movies than a game. There is already a physics based API for games called NaturalMotion euphoria. It was used for one of the Star Wars games. This is more as a plugin for whatever 3D software you're using. It'd be great if it were compatible with more than one software, like Maxwell.
If you look closely at the video, you'll see that the interface is through a 3D software (don't know specifically which one...but it is).
This looks to be too CPU-heavy for any console to process on the fly. Maybe a scaled down version...but not this particular version of it.
Ubisoft is a company just like any other. If they happen to create a product that is desired, just because it doesn't have anything to do with games doesn't mean it can't make them money.
Not to mention the quality of the shadows and light. The raytracing for the shadows is obvious...no game engine can reproduce soft/hard shadows like these.
Why would they also suggest it's easy to "adjust the quality of your simulations?" Who would do that? The game player? LOL...no. It's more like the 3D artists who would be doing it.
this software's just epic....

What is the best physics engine out there right now for 360 games?
Just Cause 2, GTA IV, or is there an even better one?
GTA IV's engine looks and feels awesome.
And Just Cause 2 too.
luckyazian13 1 year ago
@luckyazian13 Well, Just Cause 2 use Havok which probably is the most common and one of the best

I thought it was the Avalanche 2.0?
luckyazian13 1 year ago
@luckyazian13 Avalanche is the whole game engine and Havok which is only for physics effects is a part of the engine i believe

drytaffin 1 year ago
@drytaffin GTA IV uses Bullet Physics (free and open source Physics Engine) for its physics simulation.
DMM also uses Bullet Physics for its rigid body simulation, the material physics is of course custom :P.

@sl1nk3 : Thanks for the infomations, I never found which one it was.

@luckyazian13 GTA 4 does not use a physics engine a such, they have employed people to dynamically program physics into their games.
Check it out.
naturalmotion(DOT)com/euphoria
p1nn3rT 9 months ago
@luckyazian13 They both use the same physics engine, Havoc. GTA IV uses Euphoria to mimic reflex reaction in their npcs.
MrCucumberbob 5 months ago
@luckyazian13 for overall games i think its cryengine 3, frostbite 2 and Unreal 3
EDDIEinWAR 5 months ago
@luckyazian13 Gta's physic engine is better, its called "euphoria". Its a physics/animation engine.

@rpenri then why is this engine made by the lead director of ubisoft?
Nickolie56 1 year ago
@Nickolie56 It a solver not game /physics engine.Although it could be used in cinematics for game.
Thiago made SPH addon for ICE available and free for users of Softimage XSI,this is more advanced version of it.
It's pure effort,heart and ICE.
No wonder he's lead TD in Ubisoft.
