  • This makes me happy.

  • great song.

  • good song :)

  • love this song....a classic

  • Sister Act!!

  • Good music will be timeless and any generation will listen to it. Disposable music will only be enjoyed by the ppl of that time and forgot when they are older. Age is silly music that is great can be enjoyed by any age. I'm -- years old and born in ---- and i adore music from the early 1900's until now. However the 60's seem to be what is most timeless as far as music in general is concerned.

  • I'm 102 and I love this music

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Get into the instruments used in this song!! Classic!!

  • lmao, Yeah? Well.... Umm......ahhh... My father used to play this music to me when I was still inside HIM.

  • Am I the only one who thought Aretha Franklin sang this song?!

  • @exzotik81 I know right THEY SOUND SOO much alike.

  • @exzotik81 No lol I was listening to pandora radio and this song popped up and it said fontella bass i was like no this is aretha franklin but it's not. their voices sound like weird.

  • @MsBabygirlprincess I have to listen to some more of her music.

  • Love it!

  • Soo glad that my dad and Raynard came up with this song..I love it they were some "Badd Brothers in writing.

  • Now this is what you call music!

  • Thumbs up if your here because of the 'British Gas Advert'.

  • Love this song.

  • i sing this in my head when ever the phone rings in the class and im getting in trouble XD

  • british gas

  • Who gives a fuck how old you are. Thumbs down for all the stupid kids who feel the need to broadcast their age.

  • JayPCM

Did you have to curse them for it? I say thumbs up for knowing what true talent is instead of being lied to about what real music and talent looks like instead of the BS that's shoved in their faces today.

  • @rAYsimmon Doesn't matter how old someone is to know what good music is. I'm not old and I've been listening to this music since I was a child, but I don't feel the need to broadcast how old I am. A simple, "This music is great." would be fine. Half the people who put their age probably aren't really that young, its just become a trend to say "I'm 16 or 23 or 14 and I like this music." for thumbs up, which cheapens the appreciation for the music in my opinion.

  • @JayPCM i'm only 8 and i like this song .... loooool

i'm just joking but i get what you mean. i can't watch a music video without someone mentioning their age.

  • @wakawaka12328 LMAO, yeah. It pisses me off, I know its petty, but the way I see it is appreciate the music Instead of trying to get internet strangers to think you're cool for listening to music other than what is popular radio hits at the current moment.

  • @JayPCM listening since you was a child!? pfffftt please....im quite sure i was conceived to this music :P

    Benji (11,426,958 minutes old)

  • Roger that CrazyOldMaurice69 - Cougar Den Fall 1965 not Fall 1964 - thanks for the correction.

  • This blows my mind that it's not Aretha Franklin. (I just recently discovered). They sound pretty much exactly the same. Great song nonetheless.

  • @thauser1964 Your memory might be a bit hazy there, buddy. This song wasn't released until September of 1965, and Bush ran for the House in 1966.

  • Not old - vintage! This song, as well as a duet with Bobby McClure (later reworked by Gregg Allman), "Rescue Me's" followup, "Recovery" are not memories but relevant classics to today - thank you for posting this great song with the visuals. How do you have the beats per minute listed for the mono single version/ Cheers - DAVEDJ

  • A masterpiece.

  • wow i just found out this is my cousin. would have been nice to meet her.

  • Love it.

  • my all time favorite song to sing! the world needs more music like this!

  • @lucas070798 ya, you cant hear it but theres a few small solos in it, theres little slides etc, but ya, the guitar stuff sounds hard

  • @lucas070798 thats awesome, im in the middle of learning sweet home alabama by lynard skynerd. its actually harder then it sounds, theres alot of little fills that the bass does

  • @lucas070798 thx, i can also play one of the most recognizable bass lines ever, sweet emotion by aerosmith

  • this is awesome, im 13 and can play this bass line, no mistakes

  • awesome song!!!! i love it, and im 13

  • i literally play this song on the harmonica everyday

  • Anyone whom dislikes this song i shall see to it are rescued by no one for lack of soul is evidently their sole ailment

  • They just don't make songs like this anymore. I think the mould for songs was broken after the mid 80's with the best of them coming in the 60's and 70's.

  • Recently heard this song on TENA's Rush Television Commercial broadcast on Australian Television, the commercial features a lady racing home to use the toilet, but in problem to find that she can't find her keys.

  • This song is just so awesome...

  • I can listen to this all day every day. LOVE IT...

  • When I first heard this song way back when I thought it was Aretha. Regardless it's a great tune. And crazy as this sounds Toni Tenille of Captain and Tenille did a pretty respectable remake of this tune.

  • ik her granddaughter she goes to my skool an ms.bass was my greatfathers friend she was born an raised in st.louis an SHE IS STILL LIVIG!!!

  • Let's say that I like more how she sounds now (songs Evolution or Breathe with The Cinematic Orchestra)

  • i remember this song from the movie sister act

  • i ♥ this song

it is so fun and up beat

    =]

  • who was this song originally bye???

I thought it was aretha franklin...

  • Fontella Bass is the orginal singer of Rescue Me not aretha franklin

  • Thanks for clearing that up, Fontella didn't get the credits she deserved for her song.

  • This tune was included on John Lennon's Jukebox

  • not only does Fontella sound just Like Aretha but all asian people look the same and those jews sure love their money. It's a known fact

  • nice

  • ?????????????????

  • Whats with the anti Jewish rubbish bud? Business is business the kill whitie retoric is out of date and perpetunated by the uneducated amongst the african american community. Not the educated asserting ones self and building confidence in one self is invaluable when it is not accumpanied by hate and afixing blame

  • i thought this song was by aretha. ive been looking for this song for ever. no wonder i got no where. lol... silly me. love it tho

  • No! Aretha sounds like her!

  • @dnns24 how when aretha has been singing 56 and fontella 61 so other way round

  • She sounds JUST like Aretha Franklin.

  • Fantastic song. Great 60´s but of course bad times for blacks, but I hope that the situation is much better than in past. I´m white and all of my idols are african americans like Michael or Whitney. You can trust me.

  • I've loved that bass for 40 years now!

  • im playin the drums 2 this @ a concert @ my music skule and i have 2 listen 2 it 4 half an hr every nyt! i h8d it 2 strt with buh its soo auwsum! the fills r amazin!

  • The bass line is awesome

  • Is it really THAT weird that i love this song and yet i'm only 12? But seriously, how can you not like this song?

  • No it's not weird, I'm 26 and I grew up on oldies in my mom's station wagon in the late 80s. I think it's weird if people don't know these great old songs.

  • @johnz329 Isn't it weird that you're 12 and you have to be Legally 14 to own a YouTube Account?

  • @gangstarsonny seriously go fuck yourself

  • @TheMitchellsMusic Seriously, I've tried... So many times.

  • @gangstarsonny really hows it working for ya?

  • @TheMitchellsMusic Has it's up's and down's

  • @johnz329 yeah and I am 16 going on 17 and I have loved this kind of music since I was 8 including this song :)

  • @johnz329 its not weird. its just that good. music today is great too. a lot of today's artists will cite these legendary songs as influences. i would say if music sort remained at a standstill we would eventually get tired of it. i think music's evolution to where it is today and where it will go tomorrow is perfectly fine. but these age old classics will always be cherished because everyone knows its just that good :)

  • johnz329

You're wise beyond your years kiddo. Don't stop at just one sound ,one genre, or on any particular type of artist. Talent spreads this entire globe.

now i just gotta wait for my bass lol

  • cool;p

  • a good song

  • When I tell people that I like this song, they look at me in a very strange way.

  • That's the way it goes I'm afraid. Some of your peers will be perplexed that you're listening to "old people's music". And some "old people" will be nonplussed that someone of your generation is listening to their music.

Don't worry about it though. Good music, is good music. Not particularly profound I admit. But it's still true in my opinion.

  • I am always listening to either oldies or country and my friends style of music is the complete opposite. When they are in my car we listen to my music and when we are in theirs we listen to them and we all respect that the other has different interests and in my opinion that is what friendship should be all about. All of my friends are friggin awesome. Here is a shoutout to y'all. Much love from me guys.
