What makes me the happiest is that Letterman is genuinely impressed with the band. There's so many acts he won't even get up from his desk for, but here he is shaking their hands. You gotta love that. I love indie music, but screw it. The Gaslight Anthem are proof that rock isn't dead.

Its pretty interesting to see how there guitars have developed with them, I mean brian was on the fender tele for ferevea, and then used the les pual jr (or melody maker still not sure) and now he uses a 56 goldtop les pual lol the tone is way different now from the fender to the voxs. but still same old good.

it's a les paul jr. it has a p-90 pickup...the melody maker has a single coil. you're very right though, i t hink the main thing is that the les paul jr. has p-90's and so does his gold top. also in his black tele he had he had single coils, but they are custom made to sound like p-90's. brian fallon builds his amps too...well at least his bassman and the vox combo...he changed the speakers and the transistors and all that jazz. his guitar always sounds amazing thouhg!

I think its just with bands that have , and I use this term very loosely, a punk vibe some people feel they should stay small and independent. I think people should focus on how they get there rather than the fact they got there. I mean if a band pays their dues then who are we to argue. I think the Offspring are a prime example of how a band get shit for being on a major but with Smash they had the biggest selling independent album of all time and they end up with chart success. There are quite a few exceptions, but for the most part i think it's reasonable for people to worry about their favourite bands going big...we've all seen what happens.

If people don't want to pay, then there has to be more incentive. I buy records because I like having the complete package - but I don't chastize people for being fine with pirating it - you can't force them without an incentive.
