Playing the piano helps- gives you an appreciation for the music. It's hard to make a sound that beautiful out of only one person; Gonzales plays with a lot of passion, which really helps amplify his sound. I guess it takes time to understand why it sounds so great because it's a different form of music.

Don't worry. Music is a thing of progression, evolution. Liking music and musical taste is too. As long as you're open minded, you'll come across many different styles and genres you'll eventually like. Give it time. You'll grow into it sometime. Don't force it :-)

@Phyla1 Thank you.  I think I am sort of getting it. It doesn't give me the same feelings as modern orchestral or something, but I think it's a different taste. Like eating an apple as opposed to an orange. But both are sweet once you understand them :) I just have to learn how to peel the skin off the orange..

@hollumber I personally found that I didn't start enjoying piano music until I started playing, now I hear things in songs that inspire me to be a better player and also just to try and recreate the feelings the song gives me, never know, playing piano could be a great idea. I recommend it to all musicians or even people who aren't, its a great place to start learning and defiantly appreciation too!

That tremolo chord on his right hand that goes for half a second at 3:12 is my favorite part of this song. First time I watched this video, it was playing in the background and I was only listening to the audio. I came around to 3:12 and I was like "what was that fluttering sound? Did I hear it or did I feel it?" Gonzales sure knows how to tremolo.
