Even though it was tactically pointless (the Japs called it the Doo-nothing raid) it still rattled their cage. The battle of Midway was their response to this, in an effort to draw out and destroy the remaining U.S. carriers. And that turned into an epic IJN fail.

Apparently Doolittle and the other crews had no problem taking off on the carrier, they had a 60+knot headwind with the speed of the carrier and the wind, so not that much speed was needed to get airborne but then that wouldn't make for good dramatic scene ;)

This is what I don't get about this Pearl Harbor movie. Michael Bay goes to great lengths to make this film look as authentic as possible yet for whatever reason he didn't use CGI or whatever to better disguise that the carrier they're on is a modern supercarrier rather than the WWII Hornet.

Was it not possible for them to do that? Or were they just lazy and thought people wouldn't notice or something? I don't get it.

The bombing of Tokyo depicted in this video killed more innocent people than Hiroshima atomic bombing. I hate war movies that make heroes out of war. Thats why I love Band of Brother, Iwo Jima or The Thin Red Line, because it tells of the psychological effects on soldier's hearts.

Well it was war and we play for keeps as cocky as that sound its true and the Japanese fought hard, I consider them to be the most formidable foes of the Axis but then again they're higher ups were very despicable, Like the raping of Naking and the most evil thing in WW2 the damn Unit 731 makes the Germans seem like bunch of kind humanitarians. Doolittle and most of the Americans were rescued by Chinese civilians who hid them from the Japanese. Only one air crew was captured by the Japanese and another landed in Russia, who them locked the crew up for the rest of the war. The Russians were suppose to be our allies. The Japanese were very upset with the Chinese civilians because, they saved most of the Americans. The Japs then went on a killing spreed and murdered 250,000. Chinese civilians.

No, in real life the Cruiser screen visually sited a Japanese picket ship 20 or so miles out and sunk it.

For a patrol ship to get within 300 yards of the Carriers without being detected would mean they have sailed right past all the cruisers and gotten so close to the carriers you probably wouldn't be able to SEE THEM from the flight deck!
