where did you get the rare weapon that you have? i have infection and have beat it multiple times, but i was wondering if you could give me the locations of some really awesome rare items?
Wonder why everyone seems to be having a hard time with Skeith. Never played Infection, but from Mutation and on the bosses were challenging but never really deadly like this one apparently is.
Are people just underleveled or is he just ridiculously overpowered?
I don't think this battle is really hard. Just long. Buy 99 Resurrects, Antidote, and Restorative. Give 33 of each to your other two party members, hack and slash until dead.

I broke my controller as I wracked with fear, and when I heard the static that accompanies the game over cue, I collapsed to the floor and closed my eyes, struggling to shut the TV off. I didn't touch my PS2 for months. It was traumatic, and I still remember it vividly to this day.

This game holds a special place in my heart. the storyline is great and the boss battles are awesome as well, especially the skeith boss battle,it's tough but fun.
That was the only problem with IMOQ, the battle system being too menu driven. Which GU managed to get right, but thing is with GU, it did the exact opposite. Great Combat system, mediocre story.
IMOQ is better than GU though, simply cause of the storyline being that much better.
i was considering this because i watched the anime and thought it would be fun, i won't harass the graphics or storyline. But really? I would kill myself using a battle system like this....

I mean, the moment of Aura's death left me stunned, THEN the fight against Skeith, which I actually expected WAY back in the beginning when Orca was data drained, but right now it happened, I don't know what hit. @ContradictoryLilac My 2 Cents: Granted the graphics are dated but I felt the games were worth it for the engrossing storyline and crazy battles. The game does consist of alot of menu driven commands and to get your characters to fine tune their attacks during difficult battles. I wouldn't go out of my way though if the games themselves command outrageous prices. Getting all four games might be difficult. I had to comb ebay for the fourth title when i first got the series six years ago.

if u look at .hack infection u can clearly see that its much more menu oriented and because of this reason u lose the feel of the game. if u switch this battle around, in .hack gu vol.3 haseo vs kite u can see what i mean. and the avatar awaken mode was simply out of this world, skeith changed into its third form i bet everyone's jaw was wide open.
@artiste45: You could consider the Parasite Dragon the "final" boss in the game. However, it isn't mandatory to defeat it unlike Skeith, unless you want the strongest Twin Blade weapon in the game (I gave mine to Kite) for when you move on to .Hack//Mutation. It really helps. You can get the weapon by Data Draining the Parasite Dragon.
Aura: "Oh no... I'm being attacked... Guess I should just stand here and look pretty. Remember me for my brief cameo in Legend of the Twiliiiiiiiiiight.... Ack."
i was in lvl 12 when i entered first boss the flyin dragon thing then i just run around all for myself and cast spells and scrolls and healed myself lol took around an 15-30 mins to take him down
i used the same team as you cept i used all the potions to up all my attack and defense... man those were the days.. game not need have superb graphics but an excellent story line..
I liked the old dot hack games more altho i like what they did in the new one with emial and the forums I did't like the guild thing for some reason the old one where lot harder I was 34 it was a tough fight with skeith but thanks to Mistreal i won
yeah this ssucked i went in first at thirty and he killed me and i lost all my weapons and stuff and came back at 33 he was still hard but after data drain it was easy i was using aushurou though and i use black rose and piros whenever i can
To anyone who is having trouble with Skeith, since its a pain to get past level 33, before you fight him or when you know your getting close to fighting him, buy around 10-20 Blood pots (because you have to rebuff your characters if they die)to buff your characters, i found him so much easier to fight with the buffs on :D
spoiler: haseo character in this game was corupted by skeith. he was but into a comma for 7 years. his parents never told him that he was in a comma. and he never remebered skeith or the world. but when he made haseo. agian he became skeith but this time no comma. and no aura

Heh, I was at level 30 when I did this. I was the healer though, and I had kite using all the attack items I saved so he wouldn't have to get close to Skeith
Yeah, that way I was sure that if I stayed back far enough I would be able to keep my HP high, and the scrolls did slightly more damage than my attacks, so I made Blackrose and Elk go all out

I agree with you. This battle was very difficult. Not meaning to brag or anything but i took the time to level up to level 36 before fighting him. I am currently on the last battle in Mutation but I got bored of leveling up so i quit for awhile. If you fought the boss in Mutation then what level do you have to be at at least? When I was playing .Hack// G.U. Vol. 2 and 3, I thought this game sucked because of the graphics. Then I came across all four of them in one store. Luckily, I've got the money with me at that time. Now, I really like this game even though I'm still playing part 1. I completely forgot about the graphics. I only focused on the awesome game play.
My two cents - I have played both series through and feel that GU has the better graphics and a very compelling storyline, but it loses most of the challenge factor found in the original series.
Case in point - On GU I was able to beat each major boss without losing once, which kind of disappointed me. However, on the original series, I felt a real sense of accomplishment the first time I was able to defeat Skeith, the very first major boss.

Shoot you guys are right, They are hard to find because I'm missing part 2 & 4...CURSES!!! I believe I was at 33 or 34. I would just bring someone who is strong against physical attacks and someone who is strong against magical attacks in your party. Skeiths a pain in the ass - but I found that if I kept my distance and pelted away with magic he is not so bad.
Who are the best people to have in your party for this? oh yer and how much of a piss of is going through that 4 or 5 lvl duungeon before u vs him DAMN IT!

I would think that if they were to create an online version of this game today that it would do pretty well or at least be super fun.

I ended up tearing his house apart, and putting it back together.
No lie.
His room was completely empty except for the bed, TV, TV Stand, and Dresser.
I finally found his game. It was INSIDE of the wall of his room. How I found it there; I'll never.. ever.. know.
I only know it was there because I busted the wall open by accident. <- Ended up not getting in trouble for that.

However, it isn't mandatory to defeat it unlike Skeith, unless you want the strongest Twin Blade weapon in the game (I gave mine to Kite) for when you move on to .Hack//Mutation. It really helps. You can "break" regular enemies that you find in the world or dungeons and data drain them. They pass out A,B, and C virus cores on the delta server.
Just got to an area where you won't kill the enemies with a single hit and data drain a few.

Skeith is a pain in the ass, I hated him in the original games. He one-shotted me with his staff all the time.
Haseo's Skeith avatar is cool though, I like the change it makes when you fight Cubia in GU

Heh, I was at level 30 when I did this. I was the healer though, and I had kite using all the attack items I saved so he wouldn't have to get close to Skeith

Yeah, that way I was sure that if I stayed back far enough I would be able to keep my HP high, and the scrolls did slightly more damage than my attacks, so I made Blackrose and Elk go all out

I agree with you. This battle was very difficult. Not meaning to brag or anything but i took the time to level up to level 36 before fighting him. I am currently on the last battle in Mutation but I got bored of leveling up so i quit for awhile. If you fought the boss in Mutation then what level do you have to be at at least? I would really appreciate it tf you would tell me. Thank you.

very fun games. Tho, I have to say, 'Punishment' is EVIL. Terror of Death indeed.
At least it doesn't pull a 'Drain Heart' like Corbenik does in the last one... Bleh, instant death to EVERYONE.

When I was playing .Hack// G.U. Vol. 2 and 3, I thought this game sucked because of the graphics. Then I came across all four of them in one store. Luckily, I've got the money with me at that time. Now, I really like this game even though I'm still playing part 1. I completely forgot about the graphics. I only focused on the awesome game play.

My two cents - I have played both series through and feel that GU has the better graphics and a very compelling storyline, but it loses most of the challenge factor found in the original series.
Case in point - On GU I was able to beat each major boss without losing once, which kind of disappointed me. However, on the original series, I felt a real sense of accomplishment the first time I was able to defeat Skeith, the very first major boss.

I think they are both OK but the orginal series also have books wich tell the story from another point of view (called .hack//another birth)

Shoot you guys are right, They are hard to find because I'm missing part 2 & 4...CURSES!!! I will eventually get the remainder of the games ^_^ These games are fun as hell but they are rather challenging if you ask me...I got my games used at a gamestop and they were in very good condition...Try to find them if you can b/c I'm hunting them down too...lol

Not bad but if you use Pure Water it cuts the damage received from Judgment in half. Which is rather handy~

I believe I was at 33 or 34. I would just bring someone who is strong against physical attacks and someone who is strong against magical attacks in your party. Skeiths a pain in the ass - but I found that if I kept my distance and pelted away with magic he is not so bad.
