  • sampras is not wearing nike clothe???

  • Safin using a dunlop...?

  • not sure why, but i'm under the impression that nadal would beat the hell out of pete if they were both at their primes.

  • @locopatadita24 With the amount of spin Nadal gets on his balls, he would pass Pete at will. Pete would have to play quick tennis and be very sharp all the time. Of course if it was a fast surface, Sampras would have the advantage for obvious reasons.

  • @locopatadita24 That's because your too young to have seen Pete in his prime. If you did, you wouldn't have said that.

  • @locopatadita24 I agree with khemistry; You need to watch more Sampras matches.

  • @locopatadita24 you're an idiot.

  • Sampras AAAAAALWAYS the same ... serve and rushing to the net ... God bless Federer´s game u.u

  • @MattyOyola21 that was the game back then..idiot.

a lot of players were serve and volleyers only because the racket technology did not allow for such angles on the ball as today.

    grow up dumb fuck.

  • @cj397 Dude, don't believe everything you read. Technology for the pro players today is just as it was in the beginning of the 90s. Sorry to break it to you but nobody uses "ncode" or "cortex" or "youtek". They all use pure graphite racquets, lots of lead tape, luxilon and gut hybrids and mostly MP sticks. The technology allowed for such angels in the 90s (gut gets as much spin as luxilon and other polys). twu.tennis-warehouse (.) com/learning_center/stringmovement.php

  • @DestroyerAlexandros it's not everything " i read."

the newer strings really bite into the ball more than they used to, allowing for such spins

  • @cj397 Dude you don't know what you are talking about. The "poly bites into the ball" is commercial bullshit. Look at the playest I sent you in the previous post. "String material makes no difference to spin." The benefit of using luxilon is that it's stiffer than other strings, deforming the ball at contact and making it lose its energy.

Besides, polys have been available since 1995 so they aren't new at all.

And Safin uses full gut in that video

  • @DestroyerAlexandros The racket thing is hilarious, 90% of top pros today use 10 even 15 and as old as 20 year old rackets. Safin was using the prestige classic 600 here as he did his whole career.

  • @MaratSafinVideos Yes that's right, most pros use 20-year old models. Keep in mind though that Safin didn't use the PC600 throughout his whole career. In 2008 and 2009 he used the pro stock Microgel Prestige. You can tell this by looking at the code on the inside of the throat. The pro stock code for the PC600 is "PT10". The PT10 and PT57 (pro stock Pro Tour 630) are made in Austria. But Safin's post 2007 sticks said "TGK237.1" which is the pro stock code for the Microgel Prestige Mid

  • @DestroyerAlexandros Yeah I'm aware of that but I'm not 100% sure, he said in 2008 a couple of times that he uses the pc600, including once in that bag check for the tennis channel where he said he's won a couple of slams with those rackets. Kind of hints towards the PC600. The other was in a small interview where he said he couldn't imagine playing with another racket. If he was using the Microgel I've no idea why, the PC600 is a much better racket and I've no idea why he'd consider changing.

  • @MaratSafinVideos He did change, I can link you to a picture. But trust me bro, PRO stock Microgel Prestige and Prestige Classic play very very similar. Once they are up to his desired specs, it's the same ballpark.

I think Head made Safin use the 237.1 because they are switching all their pros to China-made pro stock and closing the Austrian factory, so they found it convenient to experiment with the retiring Safin.

  • @DestroyerAlexandros Interesting to know, thanks for the info. I've hit with pretty much all the Head rackets since the PC600 and I did like the Microgel Prestige much better than the Flexpoint Prestige (which I thought was a nightmare). The MG is a much better feel racket compared to the previous two lines. Recently bought a youtek Radical because it was cheap, but I'll always use my PC600's. What do you hit with?

  • @MaratSafinVideos In my opinion the Youtek line scored with the Radical but failed on the Prestige side. I hit with a Wilson H19 which is practically a Prestige Classic for Wilson-sponsored pros.

  • Watching these two playing is the biggest of joy for me..; i don't even care that Sampras was past his prime here..; they both play very risky, essential, mostly flat and paced tennis..to a level that is so rare to see now and then.

  • The biggest shocker is not that Safin lost this tournament, but that he never won Roland Garros; 2000, 2002, 2004: he was a favorite in each of those years.

  • @ActionRadar886 2002 was inexcusable losing to Ferrero like that, but in 2004 he had 13 blisters spread over both hands, he pushed Nalbandian close but there was no way he was going to win with this problem. And in 2000, I would have had Kuerten as favourite.

  • Safin should of easily won this tournament, fell at the last hurdle though. That whole year he had consistent results throughout and said himself that he absolutely regrets not winning the Australian Open and Roland Garros in 2002. I don't blame him for saying that, cause that could easily of meant 4 gs instead of 2 overall in his career, oh well.

  • points dont last very long when sampras is playing

  • @quest8899 hey first thanks,..you're a great tennis uploader if I'm not wrong. Then, you're right! He either hits the winner or the unforced error, risky tennis which I like!
