How do you go from the first boss (after the O in Round 3) straight to another boss? I can't figure this out. It always takes me to Round 4 after that boss. Or is this edited?
I am still pretty sure it's all linked to fighting the bosses. They're optional, but I think that's how you GET the option to kill him. Otherwise, there's the ending where he kills you (fail the attack sequence completely) or your brother dies (fail to get the final hit in).
I still think this game, like so many other Taito games, is incredibly MEAN. The combination of elements required to get the true ending is, like in so many other Taito games, so difficult as to require a damn miracle.
@kntain: Because some vertical scrolling Cave shooters have really weird prerequisites in order to get beat the game: Ketsui, DoDonPachi, DoDonPachi Dai-ou-Jou and DoDonPachi II all had some crazy (sometimes flawed) requirement the player needed to fill in order to get to the true/actual final stage/boss thus really get the true ending. In comparison, Taito had Raimais and Syvalion.
I've played this on Taito Legends 2 and thought it was a cool game but only figured it was another simple arcade game. This footage proves to me that it isn't. It's actually about something.

@underthepale: I think the latter statement's more appropriate for a vertical scrolling Cave shooter.

@clownjeans: Not sure why you'd even bring that up if you don't plan on explaining why that's the case.

Good game. I played that in 1988, in arcade machine, in Chile. I never knew how to kill the old man. Now i know.

What a strange ending, compared to the rest of the game.

How did you get the good ending of Raimais?

Is this ending of Raimais in the European arcade version of Raimias or does it have a different ending instead?

the euro version (which is also in the US version of Taito Legends 2) has a different ending.
