Flying an airliner means putting in data into the flight computer, doing a takeoff and turning on the autopilot. Actual hands-on flying is done only in exceptional situations. Flying an airliner is more about knowing and monitoring information than it is about piloting skills. Still, it should be an amusing challenge to someone who doesn't have a clue about piloting one of these things.
i agree with everything except the hands on flying i know a delta airlines pilot who flew from 14k ft till touchdown and there was no exception it was a normal flight except it was hand flown pilots are not forced to leave on autopilot until approach its just based on the pilots preferences
I flew the USAF B52-G simulator @ Minot AFB back in 1997. I was in 2nd grade. My Uncle (Maj. ret.) worked the rudders while I operated the yoke. I was landed the bitch, i was on almost on glideslope. Twas a blast.
Great simulators, Hopefully one of the full motion ones will be in New Zealand not in so distance future ! There is a great market here for jetliner simulators.
how about an f-18?

I dont see how some people become pilots. I love flying, and yes, I have flown Heavy Widebody aircraft. They are a lot of fun to fly.

I don't think we want you flying one of these if your willing to kill someone for the chance to fly one.

okay well, in science american... if you have a cockpit setup for fsx, then you could fly a jet airliner... just not a good idea (:

I don't have any interest in heavy flying. I love flyin' the ERJ and maybe will promote to 737. Need more experience first. Great video though!

Sure I can. I took off and landed a full motion sim of a 727, and I had only 22 real flying single engine hours at that time.
plsniper 2 years ago
i would be able to take-off and land the 747 like in the vid above, i have had experience with FSX and so on.
