I saw this musical in the 80's and loved it. Have tried to buy the soundtrack ever since unsuccessfully. Would anyone know how to get hold of it. I remember a song called Mama that was sung throughout ther performance would love to hear it again.
The soundtrack was never recorded but Stephanie did a CD called Marilyn The Legend. It had some songs from the show (not Mama), some Marilyn songs and Candle In The Wind. It was recorded in 1996, 13 years after the show ended. She carried a torch for Marilyn.
If "Marylyn" had been a success, I've no doubt Steph would have become a huge star. The show wasn't up to much, but she was superb and really caught the essence of Marylyn Monroe. She was also unparalleled as Eva in "Evita". It may be apocryphal, but I believe Hal Price thought her the best of all his Evitas.
This was the first show I saw in the West End,early 80's I think - she was stunning,I love her voice.A truly GREAT talent and a HUGE loss -God bless you Steph

Was there in 83, so fine a voice with such beauty, so sadly missed a true star.

Actually, there's a bit of Can You Hear Me Mama in the song That's Why, which is on the CD.

What a great introduction to West End musicals! I wish you could have seen her in Evita too. She was amazing.
