  • I like this video a lot. I like the way you use The D. O. C.'s classic single, "The Formula" in the background. Very creative!

  • josh looks very bored while playing that little match...

  • He wasnt. Josh and that dude had a great game...That dues name is Monk. He rolls with RZA and is tiiight on the boards...Josh and Monk build all the time. Dont mistake contemplative thought for boredom.

  • Sorry, man, and thanks for the information, that's a very nice work you got going!

  • sorry, man, didn't mean to be rude, that was a very cool event!

  • dummies, go to hell!

  • what the fuck has hip hop to do with chess????

  • A lot. Stop thinking you know so much and learn for a minute.

  • Seeing as everything in life can be seen from a chess point of view, it does, indeed, has to do with chess.

However, it's not something like music and dance. Maybe as an artistic manifestation or w/e.

Too bad we can not see any game going on on this clip. I'd like to watch one of those games.

    Regards

  • listen to Wu-Tang's Da Mystery of Chessboxin'

or Gza's whole album based on chess - Grandmasters

  • Yes, and don't forget his classic album, "Liquid Swords." Checkout the cover where he has martial artists battling it out on a chessboard. One of the best albums in Hip Hop, and it resurrected the East Coast Renaissance era in the mid-90s.

  • rza won, gza got second place! some good dudes, love them.

  • thats cool,I love hip-hop and chess too!great event,and D.O.C. men nice video!!!!!!

  • Is Qbert the only one who played vs Josh?

How good was the battle between Q and Josh?

    Just curious...

  • aaaaa uuuuuuzzzzz!!!!!

  • haha i can kick Qbert's ass in chess, but, kill me in scratch

  • haha now they finded something where they have to use the funny thing called a brain

  • use your brain to fix your grammer

  • hahha

  • Use your brain to fix your grammer

  • Use your brain to fix your spelling. (grammar)

  • eso es todo ¡¡¡¡¡

  • Honestly, the 2 go hand in hand. Hip-hop is a mind game, whether you trying to move the crowd or battling an opponent. It's the words you use, how you use them, the timing of the usage and even the inflection of your voice, all styled and maneuvered by your mind, and the one who's intelligence is greater will ultimately be the true victor. All these are chess pieces in the game of hip-hop, and this is a wonderful metaphor.

    Big up, ya'll da truth.

    one

  • YES!

  • Josh is the man, biatch!

  • Yeeeaah !

i Belive he real good at it Too..

  • nice event...and The DOC in the background sounds good...reminds me of the good ol' days! Peace

  • D.O.C. was one of the best ever!

  • nice one. i heard chess was invented in India, can anyone verify that? Keep up the good work, five stars.

  • The book "The Immortal Game" by Daid Shenk breaks it all down. But India is indeed the root.

  • Kasparov said that when Shatranj went from India to Europe about 500 years ago, that the current form of chess already existed in Europe. So it was just a coincidence that a similar game was already developed in India.

  • No one in the world has shown any European roots of chess. It came from India, went to Persia into the Islamic Empire of Spain and the Muslims of Al-Andalusia brought it into greater Europe. This is not to say that many people did not have chess-like games. The Egyptians had one, and other cultures did to. But chess, was not born in Europe. It was innovated and refined.

  • I don't know where Kaspy got his info, but if you are saying these other places are where it originated just because similar versions were there earlier, than that is a fallacy, because similar games could have developed in different places.

  • and Indian scholars themselves seem to believe that the actual date was considerably more recent than even that. It seems unlikely that there could be any mistake on this, because there is a wealth of literary material available in Sanskrit going back to 1500 BC. If chess had existed in the earlier history of India, it almost certainly would have been mentioned somewhere else.

  • Yes, chess was invented in India. And, the bishop in european chess was originally an elephant.

  • Yeah!
