I was there that night. 3:58 second row to the right of the guy in the white shirt. You can see my black shirt that says golds gym! that was a good night!
Hi - I am the current occupant of this building, and only just realized this was the actual building of Portland Wrestling back in the day, which I loved to watch on TV when I was a kid... These videos are GREAT! Thanks for uploading...
I love the excitement of the announcer once Billy Jack starts kicking everyones ass with the "Kendo Stick" I need to hire this dude as my own cheering section.
oh my god I remember this like it was yesterday!!! I was sooo pissed BJH was one of my favorites! It is crazy to soo how many the top guys came from Portland!
@aceldamahotel Ooops. I didn't even check the title of the video. The mullets threw me off. Looks like some good wrestling no matter what decade it was.
This is probably the pinnacle of Portland Wrestling's era. Some of the very best independent wrestling in the world at that time. Great wrestling every week.
Billy Jack Haynes. There was a wrestler that was misused by both the NWA and the WWF/WWE. At least the independent scene at that time took notice of Billy Jack's talent. I knew that bastard Vince McMahon would use him as a midcard grappler than a main event one.
As the name says, it was professional wrestling in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S., officially named Portland Wrestling. It was on KPTV 12 on Saturday nights (was it from 11pm to 12:30am or 11:30pm to 1am?).
from 79-91 is was on tape delay from 11 pm till 1230 am on sat nights. before that it was live until the infamous killer brooks buddy rose bloodbath. then kptv bumped it to 11 on tape delay.
besides kptv 12 there was a syndicated hour version of it broadcast in various parts of the usa and canada called "big time wrestling" as every sat night portland did a 2 1/2 hour house show the first 1 1/2 was portland wrestling the last hour was taped for Big Time Wrestling.

Anyone interested in reading emails sent to me by Billy Jack Haynes regarding his alleged witnessing of the murder of Oregon Corrections Director Michael Francke in January of 1989 can do so at my Free Frank Gable blog. A link to my Free Frank Gable website is available on
my YouTube page, and there you will find a link to my blog.
I believe Frank Gable was wrongfully convicted as do many others, including Billy Jack Haynes. Billy's emails include comments about his failed gym in Oregon.
I remember this!! wow you can find anything on youtube. i was in high school then and would tape it to watch again with my friends every monday after school. great memories, back when wrestling was cool. i always wanted to go watch them wrestle but my mom wouldnt let me because they served beer there. thanks a lot mom.
if it wernt for politics and if nwa was smart he would have been their answer to hulk in the 80's not flair boy they sure missed the boat. billy could have been closed to as big of a hero for the nwa in the hogan days.
now who was the ignorant coward who gave me a thumbs as billys attitude might have ruined it but anyone who disagrees with my scenario doesnt know shit about how wrestling was then and has their head barried in their pathetic ass.
Okay I am wrong no one would have liked billy he was a real bust in all the northwest cities nobody went nuts for him. everyone give me a thumbs down.... I was wrong billy was a bust...
I remember reading about this in PWI. Damn, this is a gem indeed! Crush in the younger days, Raven as well, and The Equalizer before that stupid Dave Sullivan angle in WCW.
I agree if Billy Jerk had made this heel turn years earlier he would've went very far indeed!
I wish he stripped some more and bounced those pecs. BJH will always be one of the sexiest men in wrestling...better than any of the plastic guys now.
I love the color commentary by Scotty The Body aka Raven. Equalizer would go on to WCW as David Sullivan, brother of Kevin and Bryan Adams would go on to WWF as the 3rd member of Demolition as Crush and would later go to WCW as Bryan Adams of the NWO and then Chronic with Brian Clark.
Typically speaking, I agree with you in theory. But in this particular circumstance, I think it was booked so that the "attack" from Oliver was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Whether that's what actually happened or not (even the announcer told Billy Jack immediately that it wasn't Oliver) was irrelevant. Those moments where he thought he had been turned on by Oliver had already awoken the monster sorta speak. There was no going back.

Portland wrestling looks like it was pretty good in the '80's.
piercdbruh 1 year ago
@piercdbruh OK, I say this mostly in jest, but I love how you decide how good Portland wrestling was in the 80's by watching a clip from 1990.
That being said, you actually are right. Was amazing.
