I have always been a fan of Johnny Ace,and whenever there is a radio station with requests I always request Pledging my love or the Clock by Johnny.I'm sure many people are interested in him,Please make a video.By the way I'm 78 years old and still love rhythm and blues.
HI BABY (TONY) I MISS U SOOOO MUCH I WISH I WAS WITH U RT NOW,I WISH THAT I WAS COOKING FOR U ..U ALWAYS SD WOW MY FAMILY WULD LV YR FOOD.BABE I MISS U SOOOOO MCH OMG I WANNA GO WITH U
The first time I heard this song was back in 1987 on Christine. It was the scene when Arnie was laying there dead in front of her. I never knew actually the singer was until about 22 years later in 2009 that it was the late Johnny Ace. The song kinda scared me back during that time. I was eleven years of age. Im 34 now but I still have some feeling about that song that I cannot really explain. Alot of sub thoughts.
MY favourite is BAD ARSED 'CHRISTINE'!!! I Just saw that BAD ARSED car, kill some BAD ARSED guys, who did some BAD ARSED shit on her bonnet. BUT she then regenerated her BAD ARSED-self. and later when her GOOD ARSED driver turns BAD ARSED, and tries to kill some friends of his, and kills himself AND CHRISTINE, she plays this BAD ARSED song.
This brings back a memory of mine from a hot, sticky evening in Mobile, Alabama in 1957 when I was a young boy. I remember trotting down the steps of our front porch and past the drooping willow in our front yard. The night was thick with winking fireflies and fragrant with the lilting perfume of blooming dogwood trees. This song came wafting across the deep, humid night air from a shiny Buick convertible lumbering down our street. I kept walking but the song has always stuck with me. : )
@meats0 wow when I read your comment.....I loved it, how you could remember every thing that day when you heard this song.... I like to sing it to my boyfriend I even have it as my ring tone for when he calls me.
As a young girl...i fell in love with this song....what memories it made my heart ache...i will forever love you the rest of my days.....thanks for the memories....keep posting beutifful music....great memories
I was a 14-year-old white boy in Minnesota, and I loved this song and what they called "race music" at the time. I used to listen to an R&B radio station out of Little Rock, Arkansas....
For certain one of the Greatest Voices that every graced a microphone and was tragedically lost. Johnny Ace accidentally shot himself in a Russian Roulette game. His voice stands beside Clyde McPhatter Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke Jerry Butler, Gene Chandler, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and other Great Artist he is sorely missed.
What a wonderful song "Pleading My Love" The whole album reminds me of my mother who I lost 40 yrs ago. And just being able to hear this music again made me forget of all the bad things going on in the world. Thank You vickyespinoza11
Johnny Ace forever. This great song is featured in a new novel titled "Dreams are Forever." It is the story of two teenage boys and captures the culture of the times and a small river town.
Johnny Ace deserved to be inducted into the hall of fame long before Led Zepellin, Beatles, Eric Clapton, U-2, and all the others that were inducted by commercial sales, not talen!
David Allan Coe covered this song on one of his albums. he told about hearing of Johnny's death while in the "boys industrial school" in Ohio. it was a moving tribute. a great song,, thanks for posting.
The version by David allen Coe has a slightly different ending than this one.. the tribute was supposedly found in Johnny Aces home after his suicide on December 25th, 1954 according to a wikipedia article he was playing russian roulette, with his Girlfriend and 2 other friends or possibly he was playing with the gun when he ended his life, Ace's funeral was on January 2, 1955, at Memphis' Clayborn Temple AME church. It was attended by an estimated 5000 people.
I just want u to know that this is a great song, had it not been for my 70year old mother asking me to find another song by Johnny Ace called the clock I would have never heard it. Once she heard this Song by Johnny called Pleading my Love not only did she remember it but she song the words to the song also! So thanks; and if U find the one called the Clock please post it. too!

Thank you 1957thunderbird312 for this post and yes I am definitely interested! I remember this song from when I was 8 years old and an aunt gave me her 45 rpm copy of it when I was 14. RIP Johnny Ace. I always especially liked the sax and vibraphone on the bridge.
i know this tune from the bad lieutenant ,harvey is out of his mind on coke and skagg when this plays in the middle of the film , thx for posting thunderbird its a cool song
Gosh, it was so long ago. I don't know which episode, but in a nutshell, these crazy deformed people (ala Hills have Eyes) drove around in this old 50's Ford coupe, and whenever they were going to kill somebody, 3 of them would sit parked in the car listening to this song.
I love this song. I first heard it when I saw Christine (1983) and again on an episode of the X-files. Thanks a bunch. Very interested. They don't make music like this anymore.
The X-Files? Johnny Ace??? I love this song and 50's Doo Wop, and I love the X-Files, but the connection sounds a little weird, but interresting. Please let me know wich season and episode it was. Thank you.

Also there was an independent movie, starring Harvey Keitel, named "Bad Lieutenant"(1990).
This song builds the closing scene, in which our bad guy is shot by somebody, whom our guy forgave him before.
