My wife, daughter, and I were at this game. In fact we were in the same section that this video was shot from. You could feel the electricity in the air as soon as he hit the ball. It was an amazing Sept. day, which also happened to be Jim Thome bobblehead day. The other cool fact was that I was able to see a player from my hometown play. His name is Chris Bootcheck. He was a pitcher for the Angles and got in the game around the 7th inning. He got hammered like it was batting practice.
Who else going to the USA vs Honduras World Cup Qualifier June 6th @ 7 P.M. at Soldier Feild? Im bringing like 30 of my boys with me..in support of our country kicking some ass......... i heard they already ahve 30,000 tickets sold.....still only 2 months away. Jozy Altidore and Freddy Adu 2 American Phenoms are gonna be dominating.
I have over 200 player cards of his. Im from Akron Ohio. He played for the Akron Canton Indians in the early 1990's. They gave away a player card of his to all the kids attending. I have 4 of them. The are very rare. I never thought he would amount to this. I hope he gets 600.
wow that's a awesome view of seeing it happen, i saw this on tv watching at home, and was in awe how Thome actually hit that ball a ton hitting it centerfield and won the game with that 3 run blast! IT's awesome, the winning runs, a home run, and his 500th homer, making him part of the 500 club...historic!
Nancy Faust also played That "NA, NA, NA.." tune when the opponent's pitcher was being replaced by a reliever...when they are doing bad...GO sox!
actually, i might be off about it being a 3 run home run, i believe there was a guy on second only and brought both runs instead of 3....to make it a 9 to 7 ball game ....
Another thing that was nice about that day...anyone notice Nancy Faust was there playing "Na, Na, Hey, Hey, Goodbye" after he hit that blast? For those who don't know, Nancy would play that song after every Sox home run when she played the organ at Sox games full-time. Now, she only plays at day games, and there's some really annoying recorded music in her place.
Thanks for the vid...Thome was willing to give the guy who caught the ball season tickets for next year along with a few other prizes. The guy who got it was in town on business from Austin, TX. So, when Thome and the Sox announced what they were willing to give, the guy said thanks, but he couldn't use the tickets...so he donated them back to Thome for his charity. But the White Sox will fly him up here next year for the Sox/Cubs series.
Man! 500 HRs. I was there in section 105 (right field) where i thought he would hit it near... but he unfortunatly hit it the left field bleachers. I was very happy for him and we also got Jim Thome Bobble heads, a souvineir card with a copy of his autograph. I was also unlucky that i didnt bring a camera! =(
That was so awesome! Big fan of Jim Thome's since he began his career in Cleveland. Bummed it wasn't hit in Cleveland but I am so happy for him and the Chicago fans!
sounded like he said 900!!!!
