  • I've worked the guy your tuned into several times, he has a very strange accent/voice, so I would imagine he would be hard to tune in if you're to SSB. He is in Italy, forget the call though.

  • Hi James

It seems that you have tuned the radio slightly off frequency to restore the SSB signal properly.

You do have quite a bit of noise in your location , you probably live in the suburbs where noise is high.

As the MP-1 is a portable antenna you probably have it mounted too low which is a disaster in a built up area.

....and it is a low performing antenna to begin with.

So with what you have there, I guess the results that you see are to be considered normal.

  • To be honest i was trying to tune to that guy talking but it was hard cause it sounded like he had a accent lol. Always had a hard time Tuning the dial to someone that has a accent. :(

True im in Center City Allentown,Pa so yea even when i turn off my wireless network and computer i still get alot of noise with any of the indoor antennas i have including the MP-1.

Either next month or in January ill be getting the Titan DX,cant wait :-)

  • Oops forgot somthing :)

  • @JamesJB32 That noise sounds like it's comming from an electric motor of some sort, or an lcd television, or a cfl light bulb.

  • @OH2FFY The other thing that should me mentioned here is that any verticle antenna more noisy than a dipole or a loop.
