  • I have no experience with soldering or anything with computer parts. What project would you suggest for a beginner that wants to get into making portables?

  • Join my forum and we can help you!

  • that bugs bunny game is awesome

  • "ive gone from nowhere to now here" :)

  • u should sell it u will earn millions!

  • what about a into play 2

  • It would be way better if u painted it in black

  • you are awesome

  • really one of my favourites out of all your accomplishments :P

  • yeah cuz everyones gonna carry that with them on the street...

  • too large since there's a way to play ps 1 on psp and surely will be on ps vita

  • Of all the PS1 Games.........

  • @Lousypenguin hahahahahaha i thought the exact same thing. still cool though

  • Awesome choice in game.

  • some plexi glass will do fine in cd

  • wow, i mod keyboards and stuff but an entire game system, i think i could do it.

  • What portable out of the ones you have built do you think took the least amount of time or was easy to work with.

  • They all seem to take forever to make; all need a lot of time (and frustration) at making the casings.

  • Hell yeah bugs bunny lost in time.

  • wow I would definitly buy this its so cool

  • wouldn't it make more sense upside down?

  • It is for sale, offer me a respectable price and i'm sure we can do business. System is PAL format so will only play PAL games BTW.

  • lol this is awesome but everytime i watch this and you say "very easy to hold..very easy to use" i get creeped out lmao

  • Only you I guess, depends how your mind thinks I guess!

  • Just buy XPERIA PLAY and fpse !

  • lol

  • 2 years later the Wii U rip offs your design.

  • Hey, I love these home consoles into handhelds as much as the next guy, but to a certain extent, I think Sony beat you out in terms of sales. Playstation Portable anyone? Effectively can be a portable playstation one if you're willing to drop the right amount of cash. All that other troll esque crap aside, love the vid, love the concept, keep on doing what you love.

  • just cut the adapter and soder a car adapter on it :P

  • haha, bugs bunny travels in time, one of my first ps1 games :u

  • We would also like to know what chips there are and what they do and how they interact with each other, which is specifically information you could give us. Please we need a contact or we will fail the project.

  • I am a modder not a technical engineer so unfortunately don't know how the chips etc interact or work, only what they output to and some modding aspects. I don't have the expertise in the area of your interest and not sure who would; if you Google you might well find some technical schematic documentation as the system is about 11 years old now, and might be public domain. That's you best chance I think.

  • and once again we fail to see the back of the unit while it is in use, why so suspicious old man?

  • We were hoping that we could get some more information on the specific materials used to make the product as well as the reasoning behind the design. We would greatly appreciate if you could help us to get in contact with someone who can answer our questions. Thank you very much for all of your help.

  • We are in an engineering class called Engineering Design and Development. We are currently working on a “deconstructed” project where we are tasked with taking a product apart to better learn how it was designed and engineered. We have chosen to learn more about the slim PS One system.

  • Eh, these things are pointless now that we have the PSP & the Xperia Play which can play emulated PS1 games perfectly.

I was looking up portable ps2s, weird how there really isn't any. (as apposed to portable gamecube mods.)

  • There are some PS2 portables around, based on the PS2 Slim.

  • Can I buy the system already built by u and if so how much

  • If you're UK, i'd sell for £350 including postage; will need to modify the joysticks first though to better ones.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA I live in the USA and dont have UK money so how much would that be in american dollars

  • I'd rather sell this particular portable inside the UK, purely for the reason that I used a fair bit of hot glue in making this system, and consequently the temperature in transit to the USA is liable to melt/soften the glue and cause problems. I'm now making systems using super glue not hot glue for this reason, and therefore allow me to ship abroad no issues. No problem within the UK, but would be issues abroad because of the glue used!

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA ok also i looked up how much that would cost in US dollars and found out it would be over 400 dollars but i might consider getting the kit for it.

  • so i am attempting to create my own portable ps1 and while testing the ribbon under the disc drive got snagged and now when i power it on the disc drive spins 2 short times and stops. any idea how to fix this issue?

  • hey you can alredy play ps1 games on the psp portable console idnt you know?

  • Bugs Bunny Lost in Time

    MY CHILDHOOD.

  • I like the ps1 but it isn't my favourite console (new or old) by far, because the 3d graphics wobble. However, this mod of yours is the best looking console-to-handheld mod I have seen IMO. That's how good this is. Great! I would have made the CD cover slide like a van door but that's just details. Great plastic colour, great shape. Just excellent. Playing Heart of Darkness on this would be cool.

  • portable and disks will never really go together...

  • sega dreamcast portable that will be amazing

  • Made one, look at my IntoDream project!

  • ''heard of the psp''... HEARD OF SHUT THE FUCK UP! 1up that is :P

  • thumbs up for bugs bunny

  • tht looks awesome dude :DD

  • heard of the psp?

  • Obviously. If you'd played games on original hardware not emulation, you'd not me making that comment.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Oh yeah, slow load times ftw!

  • Why not just buy psp it is way better and it is the same as a ps3 sooooooo.... why make it!?!?!?!

  • @TheGilbert303 It's not like the PS3 bro XD And this is much better than the piece of shit PSP. Besides, not all PS1 games are available for the PSP.

  • @BananaPhoneBanana I have a PSP and I can have any PS1 game I want on it. ~_O

You could too if you knew what you were doing...

  • @d1sturb3d0ne sure, you can play it while it is EMULATED on PSP with no L2 and no R2, as well as a widescreen LCD that will stretch the image out of its native resolution. Have fun with that...

  • @Haunted360 The PSP doesn't emulate the PS1 classics from the PSN... They're redesigned specifically FOR the PSP. The PSP also uses the analog nub as the L2 and R2 buttons and it works out pretty damn good. As far as the screen...Each game has different settings for how you want it displayed, you can keep it original 4:3 or you can change it to one of a few other options. Most PS1 games have updated graphics when they're put on the PSP as well. Sounds like a pretty good deal.

  • @d1sturb3d0ne I am certain that there emulated. Hmm... I know on the PS3 they are emulated. They do not run on the hardware. Sure you can use the analog stick on the PSP, what good does that do? Yes. You can set it to widescreen or zoom, etc but the native PS1 / one resolution is 320 x 128. Even so, it would be better running it on a NON EDITED version of the PS game. Hence, running it from the CD-ROM would be better, and you can use your memory card in bacteria's design here.

  • @Haunted360 Yes but the PSP has one advantage over Bacteria's handheld... It doesn't cost $650+... You can get a PSP brand new for $130 and PS1 games cost $10 at most. Advantage = PSP.

  • @d1sturb3d0ne well, if Bacteria wants $650 + for this, then yes. Get a PSP :P Most people who buy the portables, want them because there are either special to them, or think it is really cool and worth that amount. You should check mine out soon. Should be finished by the end of this week ^_^

  • @Haunted360 I'm not saying that this portable isn't awesome, the exact opposite actually. This thing is sick as hell. I'd love to own it, I just don't have that much money to spend on a hand held system. I'll surely give yours a look when you've finished it. Is it also a PS1 hand held?

  • @d1sturb3d0ne It is sick as anything, but I particularly dont like this design. Looks like an egg kind of :P Yes. Mine is also a PSone Portable.

  • @Haunted360 Yes it does look a little bulky to hold. (That's why I prefer the PSP it's easier for me to hold since I was in my car accident). I friend requested you so that I can keep tabs on the progress of your PS1 portable.

  • @d1sturb3d0ne Oh. That sucks. Mine is in the shape of a PSP, so it makes is I guess a normal styled console. I am going to upload the 'PlayFree' (PSone Portable) once it is done, and have a assembly video of it :)

  • @Haunted360 That's cool. I've been thinking about making a PS2 portable (I've got like 6 PS2's [fats and slims] just laying around, some need lasers and some need other parts so I might as well just combine them with a screen and a battery pack). I just need to find the time to get to working on it.

  • @d1sturb3d0ne haha, you should. It is a good learning experience in electronics and plastic work. It takes time, but in the end it is all worth it :)

  • @Haunted360 Yeah. I've always been fascinated with how smaller electronics work so I'm always taking things apart to see how they tick.

  • @Haunted360 I subbed to your channel as well. If you have a PSP then my channel might interest you. I do PSP themes (creation and mostly mods) and I also do game play videos for just about any PSP game (per request first).

  • @d1sturb3d0ne Thanks! I added you as a friend. If I need to know how to do custom firmware, I will ask you (as it always puzzles me a little). Thanks! ^_^

  • @Haunted360 I can help you hack ANY Sony PSP made. lol there's a hack for every single model (and all but the latest 6.60 firmware [it should be completed within a week though])

  • @d1sturb3d0ne Cool. I will let you know soon. I had a PSP, sold it,, got another, sold it, had another a few days ago but it was faulty from EB Games, so I returned it. I will get another soon :)

  • 2 years later Wii U stole your idea...

  • how much will you sell it for

  • do you sell this consoles?

  • Still have this console, if someone wants to buy it they can, although the portables I will make and sell will normally be N64 or SNES for new casings.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA can you make a portable gamecube similar to the portable 64 (red case, etc.) how much would it be?

  • There are a few modders around that use a gadget to bypass the disc drive to make slimmer systems; I prefer original games rather than ROMS, so not gone that path.

  • Hey, did you use vacuum forming for the case?

  • Absolutely.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA nice. What was the mold made out of? wood?

  • No, because I don't have suitable tools for woodworking, so used clay instead.

  • how much? :P

  • Hey man build a time machine go back 10 years and build this and become fucking rich!!!!

  • The PS1 had some excellent games and very playable. Latest consoles does not equal the best just because someone who is selling it to you says that; retro systems have an excellent back catalogue.

  • what is it with sony and always makin slims of their consoles

  • make the annalogs on the bottom.

  • BUGZ BUNNEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How did you get the symbol of the headphone above the headphone jack? Did you paint it?

  • Printed onto a clear transfer and applied to the case.

  • Are you a genius? Because I'm going to call you one.

  • Ohh, I remember playing this game whit my friend

  • All I'd say is the control layout looks awkward, all the buttons are too far apart (think the original controller for the Xbox) What would probably work better is to move the buttons up slightly and move the sticks down below the buttons.

  • I bet You have alot of free time

  • I bet You have alot of free time

  • loved that game

  • this would have been cool back in the heyday of the ps 1, now as i have not seen any ps 1 con. in a few years it makes me not wanna get all harakiri on my first love so i'll just keep it in the box and show my kids a pice of history...omg if i just learned half as much as i played by now i should have got a nobel for something

  • i have an idea.. not saying ur product sucks but it kinda looks too big...so wat i think in order to make it smaller u can make it run on roms instead of the cd.

  • or you can put cfw on your psp and put ps1 games

  • oye traigalo por correo argentino

  • Is that a PS2 memory card? It looks alot like one because I have a red one like you!

  • PS1 memory card, I have a few of them!

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA But mine is PS2 memory card.

  • They could of made this 10 years ago, why not?

  • Indeed, perhaps not enough projected sales?

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Not good enough batteries . 11 years ago it would have been record-breaking technology.

  • Lots of wonderful memories playing the psone :)

I think it would have been much better and comfortable to use if the disc tray would close just like the psone, without having to hold it from the back from opening :p

  • The backing plate is held in place by magnets so doesn't need holding.

  • Oh ok...that's cool then!

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA how muck for the controller cause i need one

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA how much is ps1 lcd now ? and how long battery lasts ?

i have 2 ps1's (1 work 2nd parts 4 joysticks soo...) need it because i go on .. hmm.. cant say on english (unknown word) like vacation so BATTERY AND LCD price please if you know

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA hey, big fan of your videos. do you have a totorial video on how to make a portable psone? i so, please send me the link

  • On my Wordpress site (link on my profile) there is a section for the PSone you might find of interest.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA yeah i found it. thank you very much

  • nice can you swap it though?

  • I had that system but the little screen's screws broke now i wish i kept it...

  • I think I might get myself the kits sometime (if I got enough time to work on it.

  • I'm making one just for MGS

  • id deffo buy this but itd need to all be pal unfortunatley

  • Actually, it was quite crammed to get it all in there.

  • even tho that looks like its really well made i don't think anybody would pay even as much as for psp or ds

  • Would you take an offer of about $500, with the memory card. Very nice system. Thank you.

  • Yes. I need though to look at changing the joysticks for (expensive) MadCatz joysticks (cost about £25 for a pair) so as to improve the joysticks working, also some other tweaks too. Won't charge you more of course, i'll take the hit. send me a PM please if you wish to proceed; i'll take a deposit from you first (30% seems fair), do the modding work needed for improvements, fully test the system, then i'll get the remaining fee prior to posting - we can confirm details - send a YouTube PM!

  • Pity he never completed the deal....

  • @Elmofreak23

I have already said this to several people but with these old console you can just emulate them on your laptop and plug a usb controller in. the PSP can play PS1 games anyway. however this is very good work for however created it

  • ...Like you're making a stupid offer and wanting a reply to suit.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Looks ungainly. How's 35 bucks sound?

  • People like you just amaze me everyday, being able to do things like this...

    Just awesome.

  • is it for sale, if it is .. how much?

  • Make me a realistic offer!

I'll need to change the joysticks first to better ones, not a problem though.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Do you have any plans on portablized version of the PS2? If so, I would recomend the PS2 slim because it is much smaller and would most likely work with your cases.

  • could playstation 2 games work

  • Not on a Playstation 1 console, no.

  • @cool34ify You are a very smart person... I'd like to meet you and see what more brilliant questions you have left in that astounding mind of yours.

  • I remembered the old days that I'm using it with Gameshark ALL THE TIME. That's why I needed to replace the Optic Lens once per three months.

  • wait, if this could be made using the original parts, why wasn't the ps1 or n64 like this in the first place?!

  • or more importantly, why they didn't do handhelds of their systems when the systems became obsolete, to bring life back to the platforms again?

  • What if the disk drive gets dirty?

  • The disc drive outer parts are exposed, as they are on the PSone, so not an issue.

  • Does it skip-skip-skip-skip-skip-skip-skip a lot? I'd imagine a portable PS1 like that one would have all the same problems that the original portable CD Players used to have until shock protection came out.

  • CD drive unit works fine but makes noises quite a bit; the PS2 was far quieter.

  • Analog sticks should be downward, the whole video I thought you were holding it upside down

  • @LPsForNintendo - i agree!!

  • well the casting color choise reminds me of some toilet furniture for real , like a soap holder or something , otherwise not bad at all but pricy too

  • It's a fine colour, but, yes, a porcelain cream in colour. Price? Well, given the labour required, no.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Hey,i've got one of PSone contorller like in video! :D

  • Tell me the name of the bugs bunny game please.

  • @dthjunior Thats: Bugs Bunny Lost in Time

  • or just buy psp? hq, smaller, better?

  • PSP's aren't that great, I had one. Emulation is fine if you have a PSP you can run emulation on; and can have the hassle. Nothing beats real console gaming though.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA i wouldn't really ant to walk with that big thing though

  • nice case!

  • The Real psp

  • wow nice,i always wanted a ps1 portable, ps1 has my fovourite games

  • omg

  • Nice Moddings, you should do mods and sell you would make some great cash :)

  • Nice Gold Watch

  • Actually, it's a cheap watch, £50 at Argos - looks nice though! lol

  • This console looks like Gizmondo's fat Uncle.

    Awesome!

  • so u made this?

  • *duh*

  • i looked at the instructions and there is no way i can do that! is there any way i can buy one?

  • Sure, at a price. My time isn't giveaway!

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA let me know what price you want to sell it at

  • I'd have to change the joysticks to better ones before i'd sell it, looking £400 plus postage (£10 UK, £40 elsewhere).

  • awsome

  • I honestly don't get all the bad comments about how he should just get a psp instead of using this. Sure, bacteria could go and get a psp, but what fun would that be? He took the time and effort to construct this to his liking and it turned out great. so I think everybody should just comment on the portable and not how he should get a psp.

  • You should change the positioning of the analog sticks to be where the speakers are

  • i have that game

  • What a coincidence! So do I lol

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA How much costs a PSone screen froom you?

  • PM me with your country and I can quote price. My screens are PAL format not NTSC.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Romania,Bacau.(i'm romanian)

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Wow,you used a PS1 fat drive for this psone portable!I used this method too for repairing my PSone.I used a 11 year old PSX fat.

  • Actually, use a PSone not PSX. Could have used a PSX though, and also if i'd used the ribbon cable from a PSX I may not have needed to extend the connections by cable and could have used the longer ribbon instead.
